Sideboard

Enchantment (2)

Maybeboard

A slightly advanced version of the list I posted here yesterday. The point of it is to be a budget deck that tries to win by milling your opponent with Grindclock.

The deck is built around cheap counterspells, that while situational can hit really hard on tempo. One of the main "combos" of this deck are the interactions with Void Mirror, where any suspended cards get countered upon ticking down to 0, since they get cast for free. Thus cards like Delay and Suspend can work as hard removal, while it also denies any free cast cards our opponent might have, such as Force of Negation or Endurance. The deck technically has two win conditions with Grindclock and Elixir of Immoratlity, so we can fall back on the other, should one get destroyed.

The rest of the deck are simply cards that allow us to stop whatever out opponent is doing. Counterspell and Lose Focus are great answers to almost anything, Thassa's Intervention and Opt allow us to draw cards, while we are running a Baral, Chief of Compliance for the small discount, but mostly the looting to help us pitch lands. You ever only need so many lands in this deck, usually capping out at five or six, so ards like Jwari Disruption   and Lonely Sandbar give us additional options what to do with our lands, should we need to pitch them.

The other supporting cast are cards such as Dispel, which is invaluable for any matchups where the opponent has a lot of burn oe countermagic themselves. Narset, Parter of Veils is here to get us card advantage and stop our opponents from geting any, but is very prone to being sideboarded out. We also need something like Soul-Guide Lantern in case we start helping our opponent by milling them, so there is no issue in mainboarding it.

In the sideboard we have a slight anti-synergy card of Gut Shot, but if we ever run into Dragon's Rage Channelers or Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer it is more than worth to sideboard it in. Ratchet Bomb is here to help with wide boards or token strategies, Mystical Dispute to give us even more edge over control decks, Pithing Needle to screw with fetches or anything else and Dress Down to shut down combos, turn off infect or just play it to cycle it...

In the Maybeboard are cards that could be argued they belong into the deck. Hard Evidence and Devastation Tide both help against board-based decks, Mental Journey could be used to just draw cards if needed or just to thin our deck with cycling, Nix can act as an additional layer of protection in a similar way to Void Mirror, but it is possibly just overkill, Flashfreeze hits a good portion of the meta, but may be unnescessary with all the other answers at our disposal and Narset's Reversal can get us a big edge, but is extremely situational in when it is worth it... And last but not least, Test of Talents can help prevent a lot of threats before they are ever created and gives a lot of information.

One last thing... Thgere is a chance that Knowledge Pool could work as a win condition as well, since in combination with Void Mirror it prevents both players from casting any spells for the rest of the game. So, that could make sure that if the board is empty and we have a Grindclock or a Baral, Chief of Compliance, we instantly win the game. But that has the danger of being a little bit too clunky...
