Mightstone, Awakened

Legendary Artifact Creature - Golem

Other creatures you control get +X/+X, where X is ~’s power

0/0

Find a way to buff it and it buffs all your creatures. Play off of Mightstone and inspired by the new set, the Brother’s War.

Pick your favorite nonlegendary creature and redesign it so that it is now a legendary creature.

ShaDoWz_6677 thanks for your suggestions, however the concept I came up with is a little bit different. You could see the deck as Yawgmoth commanding an army of phyrexians, using his own personal devices and creations and everything the phyrexians are known for.

Powerstones were a creation from Glacian, not Yawgmoth and The Weakstone and Mightstone were used to keep Phyrexia away from entering Dominaria and more connected to Urza and Mishra's War and later Urza to keep him alive while being stuck inside his eyes, in the rest of the story. Glistening Oil may fit the theme a bit more, since it's what the phyrexians used to spread their corruption and to compleat other creatures into their own.

Phyrexian Portal looks cool flavorwise and would fit the theme but which card should I remove from my deck now?

You will also want the Weakstone and Mightstone since they were used as Urza's eyes. And a Worn Powerstone to represent the lore part of Gate to Phyrexia since a powerstone with the same charge as one in Phyrexia was used to keep the Gate open.

Phyrexian Portal is another card I'd look into.

I've seen the Hypnotic Siren before, and honestly if you're at 7 mana you've probably already got an extra turn, but will consider it. I also can't believe I missed Jace's Phantasm , easily turns on in most games. I saw the One with Nature in your list and am just trying to figure out what I'd cut for it, along with Hope of Ghirapur . Probably the weird old landwalkers, since you can't guarantee someone's going to have that specific land type.

I figured you were building on a budget, I saw the pretty significant price difference, that's what drew me to the commander in the first place. The reason I've got the fancy pants expensive stuff is because I was actively playing in standard during Innistrad, I still have playsets of those fetches from Zendikar, and I'm pretty sure I've got a full set of snapcasters and Time Warps from Pyromancer Ascension decks.

A couple budget suggestions for you. I saw the Signal Pest in your list, check out Contested War Zone , Mightstone , Gaea's Anthem , Murkfiend Liege and Thunderfoot Baloth . I ran a number of those at one point in time before I built all in around the extra turns. Unless you're taking multiple people out on the same turn the anthem's draw quite a bit of ire from the table.

So it turns out the creatures you have are pretty much the best you can find unless you're willing to go up to 3 cmc for those looter effects. However I believe you'll find either Lullmage Mentor or Orochi Hatchery to be far more effective than your Sharding Sphinx. I am hesitant to suggest the mentor given your relatively low merfolk count, and you don't run entirely counterspells either, but he fits extremely well into your idea of an oppressive blue aggro deck. Meekstone I would argue fits as well, but I wouldn't know where to cut for that.

Also, what do you think of a more casual aggro tokens variant of Tetsuko? Could it get away with Mightstone effects and probably with an artifacts subtheme?

Also, if you want some anthem effects, Mightstone, Veteran Swordsmith, and Massive Raid can all work well.

MagicalHacker on Official MagicalHacker Commander List Update …

Welcome, fellow planeswalkers, to the Official MagicalHacker Commander List Update (OMCLU) for Hour of Devastation!

If you are not aware, I have had lists for commander staple effects for a very long time now, and I have been updating them as new sets are released. Rather than showcasing individual cards that are being used, I instead use these lists to show all cards in categories that have proven to be advantageous to have in Commander. More specifically, these categories of staples are ones that answer certain problems a deck could be experiencing, such as having a hard time against control, not being able to play cards in hand quickly enough, or dealing with problematic commanders. (They can be found on my profile.)

The purpose of this thread is three-fold:

  1. To raise public awareness for these lists (which I know to be extremely useful since I use them more than literally any other resource online when building decks).

  2. To receive feedback about HOU cards that should be added/removed from lists.

  3. To receive feedback about older cards that should be added/removed from lists.

Hour of Devastation is now up on Gatherer, so its now time to go through the process of updating my decks!

In addition to a few of the cards that have already been mentioned, my own Fumiko the Lowblood deck uses Hero of Oxid Ridge, Homura, Human Ascendant, Instigator Gang  Flip, Moonveil Dragon, Contested War Zone, Mightstone, and Thunderstaff.
