Removed:

Stranglehold -Great but didn't forward the deck.

Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre -It was good because the deck was under preforming.

Reaper from the Abyss -'cute'

Hoard-Smelter Dragon -Fun but mana intensive/off target.

Batterskull - Basilisk Collar does the job better and makes Lyzolda a kill spell.

Ashes to Ashes -So much removal.

Silence the Believers -You don't need to personally deal with every threat.

Breeding Pit -We've all tried this bad card, it's bad.

Barrage of Expendables -redundancy with your general is the point of a general, and it's bad.

Molten Primordial -It's bigger than it needs to be.

Added:

Corpse Dance

Dawn of the Dead

Basilisk Collar

Nether Traitor

Corpse Connoisseur

Zealous Conscripts

Netherborn Phalanx

Undying Evil

Grave Pact

Brood of Cockroaches

Update 1

Yamgrenade, 11 years ago

Added Sideboard, considering Azorius Charm and adding another boardwipe, possibly planar cleansing.

Major Changes

slovakattack, 11 years ago

Welp, as much as I loved the previous version of this deck, it just wasn't viable competitively. Or casually. Or anywhere, really. There were a bunch of changes, but overall the deck has been simplified for the better.

More updates

Mojangles, 11 years ago

Trying to find a good balance between land and creatures. 26 creatures sounds like a good number, but I don't really want to run Satyr Wayfinder. Without the Satyr Wayfinders, my deck might have a hard time drawing land, so I think I'll give 23 land a try. This runs an additional land compared to the Satyr Wayfinder build.

Figured I was running too much dredge, as I drew Kruphix's Insight quite often when I didn't need it. Keeping 4x Commune with the Gods since it is an important turn 2 play. Added 3x Horizon Chimera to keep the creature base at 26, took 2x Kruphix's Insight out since 3 mana is a bit late.

I'm gonna experiment with Fated Intervention and see how it works for me. It probably will end up in the graveyard too frequently for it to serve a real purpose. If it's not working, I might mainboard Primeval Bounty back, or add another copy of a creature like Boon Satyr.

Updated - Added Courser of Kruphix, Banishing Light and revised the sideboard. Built as an Idea for Courtney43

Card switches

VileVulture, 11 years ago

I found against control because you play aggressively and they counter what they counter and nuke my field, if i put Underworld Cerberus in my sideboard and board him in and get him on the field especially mid-late game he can really help me get back everything countered earlier because he is a threat himself they have to deal with him. and he counteracts elspeth's +1 because he has to be blocked by 3 or more

Play testing

Nelstone, 11 years ago

Play tested the deck last night. My friend played this deck while I ran Tap'em and crush'em - U/W Midrange. Man, when this deck doesn't get mana screwed, it works well. Wicked well. Dare I say I may get brave enough to run it at an FNM sometime.

Back to Mono-Green!

canna12, 11 years ago

G/R devotion wasn't working out, so I thought I'd try mono-green again. I like the constellation mechanic and Eidolon of Blossoms, so maybe now I won't get stuck with no cards in hand after turn 3.

Added some Maybe's

TenthDoctorMatt, 11 years ago

Put a couple things in the Maybeboard. I'm thinking Mana Confluence might be better than Mutavault since it would help ensure I always had the right mana. Not sure though.

Also maybe a couple of Bile Blight in the sideboard or something to help deal with Pack Rat, but that might be redundant since I have so many other options.

Update

Valentine35, 11 years ago

I have updated the deck with a few cards that i had not been able to get hold of until now. Recent additions include Thragtusk obvious, Spellbook (a replacement for Venser's Journal), Dissipate, (i found myself hoping for a very occasional counterspell), Glen Elendra Archmagei like to bounce around after i sac her to get rid of her counters and keep countering. Selkie Hedge-Mage came back in since she saved me a few times comboing with the Closet. Edric, Spymaster of Trest i opened in a Conspiracy booster and figured why not. Overrun i found my lack of trample disappointing, Ghostly Flicker, an instant speed closet, AEther Adept, a continuous bouce spell on legs, Trygon Predator, a beast, and Buried Ruin to go get my closet back from the dumpster. Fathom Mage will probably be the first to be replaced. Probably by almost anything in my maybe board. Mostly looking for a Mystic Snake, to replace her though.
