Post Game-day

asasinater13, 11 years ago

so just finished my first tournament with it, pleased with how it ran. Went 2-2, winning vs american control and green aggro, losing to american control and R/G monsters

round 1, went 2-1 against an american control deck. Was very grindy, and his deck didn't play well the first game. started our game three with 5 minutes left, and I played out as aggressive as it plays for a win.

round 2, vs mono-g aggro, was against a friend of mine, won 2-1, getting in Whip of Erebos for a win game one, and the same way of lifegain game 3. after how well it played I traded for a second whip to run

round 3, really good american control, I played through 2 jaces and an elspeth game 1, but after many Sphinx's Revelation, keranos, god of the storm proved too good for me to handle. I need to get some Unravel the Aether to handle keranos in these decks

round 4, played against R/G monsters. Game one I lost to a xenagos planeswalker and missed a couple land drops, specifically the black kind. couldn't hero's downfall until after he ult'd, and after hitting 7 permanents with it, too much damage to live through. Game 2 I got a win through doomwake giant and then using pharika to make 3 snakes in a turn, wiping all the sylvan caryatids he had. Game three, there was nothing I could do against two ghor-clan rampagers, a polukranos, and two stormbreaths. I also forgot to side out Abrupt Decay and drew both of them, ending in two dead-cards after a mull to 6. not my best play.

all in all, I know I need to get more Hero's Downfall, get some Unravel the Aether for sideboard, and get a second whip to fit somehow. should be fun. any other suggestions would be appreciated. It was a really fun night.

Rough draft performance

timmyxv, 11 years ago

I played a rough version of this deck off of things my lgs had at fnm today. I ran some pretty bad stuff. More card advantage, birds of paradise, no paths, and all basic lands. Needless to say, the main problem was the mana base. I think if I put a lot of money into the mana and buy some paths it could go undefeated. I went 2-2. -- Two people were running enough removal to kill midnight guard every time, and one of them combo'd shortly after killing it. The other two never saw it coming and were absolutely destroyed. -- What I really want to do is make the deck red/white and run splinter twin over presence. Less mana problems, and I need splinter twins for a competitive deck I'll be making eventually anyway.

Down to 100 but not sure if I should swap in some things from the maybe board. Particularly thinking about [Custodi Squire] and [Trostani's Summoner] since one provides broad recursion and the other can help overwhelm defenses by blinking and putting in more tokens. Haven't had a chance to play this deck yet so no idea how it works out.

Added: Gaea's Cradle. Cut: Forest.

Tournament #15: Top 4

sylvannos, 11 years ago

Trying around some new tech today with Spreading Seas and Cyclonic Rift. The difference between casting those and Mishra's Bauble/All is Dust was negligible, so it wasn't too hard on the mana base. It was refreshing to have instants for a change. Spreading Seas into Karn Liberated is absolutely devastating to people's mana bases.

I still need to do something about the aggro in my area. It mostly has to do with not having red for Pyroclasm.

Round One: Big Zoo-- 1-2
Round Two: Bye
Round Three: U/G Infect-- 2-0
Top 4: Burn-- 0-2

Pre-FNM Update!!!

pigeoniscoop, 11 years ago

I took out the Jarad, Golgari Lich Lords and 2 of the Doomwake Giants and put in a playset of Hero's Downfall in the mainboard and then 2 Drown in Sorrow in the sideboard so that I can have some instant speed removal and can side in against aggro decks.

FNM #5 A glorious comeback!

spyroswiz, 11 years ago

After a while going to FNM's with different decks, I decided to play my old White Weenie deck. And It wasnt a bad choice. I've managed to go 5-0 and placed my self to the first place. My winnings was 1 FNM Promo Dissolve and 5 booster packs.

Working on it

ramonthebadass, 11 years ago

There are some cards out there that i need to make this deck more competitive and i will get around to it and i will fix it up but in the meantime im just enjoying the deck. As of right now this deck is 13-3. 8 of them 1v1 and i won 7/8 and 5 multiplayer and i won 3/5

scrapped

patsfan32189, 11 years ago

decided to scrap my last idea to make a deck around all these Minotaur I have. Only problem is I have so many and I cant decide which ones are worth keeping and which are worth removing.

Conspiracy update.

valek07, 11 years ago

Ordered some stuff from Conspiracy. Also a few things to help with my life total, as I get punched down without any decent way to recover.

Terminate

NDR700, 11 years ago

This deck needed some removal, and Terminate was the card for the job! I had to remove Door of Destinies, 1x Dragon Fodder, 1x Skirk Prospector, and 1x Dragon Egg, but so far as I can tell, it's working.

Switched out 2 elvish mystic for 2 AEtherling

MagicalMuddie, 11 years ago

Went 3-0 in a local 1v1 Commander tournament. Opponents were: Krenko, Eight-and-a-half-tails, Omnath. The deck performed exceptionally considering that the french ban-list was not in effect and nearly everyone had some kind of degenerate turn 1.

Jund Wolves 2.0

-Sylex-, 11 years ago

I removed 4 Immerwolf and added 4 Golgari Charm instead. Also, I added the sideboard. Lightning Bolt and Blightning are useful when you want to put additional pressure on your opponents and to get rid of early threats like Tarmogoyf. Gnaw to the Bone is good against aggro and Ancient Grudge is a great removal spell against artifacts.
