The deck is alot of fun to play by itself. Although it's kinda slow and easy to counter, when I play multiplayer games and they do the mistake of leaving me alone for the first 2-3 turns, the deck becomes a real threat. Still taking ideas for improvement !

Update #3
The Messian, 13 years ago
Swapped the Grave Titans for Bloodline Keepers. He should have some nice synergy with Sorin. I can also cast more easily, the Titan was sitting in my hand to often.
Gideon Jura
Godzbreath, 13 years ago
I'm going to test out Gideon Jura in the sideboard in place of Elspeth Tirel. Elspeth always felt really weak, and I couldn't ever think of matchups where I'd want to side her in. My hope with Gideon is to add him in when playing the control matchup, because in the control matchup generally the board wipes become largely irrelevant and are sided out for more threats. (Hero of Bladehold being the biggest one at this point.) I figure that Gideon forces them to have more answers, which is what I desire in that matchup.

Out 1x Might of Old Krosa and 1x Fling. In 2x Mimic Vat. Creatures are so precious in this deck, so Mimic Vat is what I need.Tinkering

Been testing out some different options. Decided to pull Honor of the Pure and go for Hamlet Captain instead. Since I have quite a few humans in the deck, it should help keep Blade Splicer alive while also giving tokens from Gather the Townsfolk a boost. I tried out Doomed Traveler, but it made my mana tough to figure out since I have 2 green 1-drops in Birds of Paradise and Avacyn's Pilgrim. Not sure if I need that much mana production, so I'm open to other options. Also, I'm not sure about how to work my land situation out since I have green 1-drops and 3 cards with a double white mana requirement, the first being Hero of Bladehold on turn 4. HELP?!

well i think ive made a huge improvement to this deck, feel free to make any comments or suggestions about it

SideNote:
tetsuga3, 13 years ago
Not so obvious sidenote. If you have access to 20 mana, which is fairly easy, and an eye of ugin, you can take infinate turns. the catch is your opponent cant have instant speed graveyard hate. anyways. here it is. make 20 mana eye for 7 pull emrakul cast for 13 on extra turn, swing make 20 mana eye for 7 pull emrakul cast for 13 both die due to legendary (thus the graveyard hate comment) trigger shuffles them back take extra turn, because you DID cast it. rinse and repeat.
Improvements

I've made some attempts to improve my deck, I noticed it was lacking higher end creatures to finish the game off. The Reaper from the Abyss and Sheoldred, Whispering One help. These also made the Birthing Pod work since there is now a creature for each mana cost. Another Skirsdag High Priest and Prey Upon added because they're fun to use. One Devouring Swarm removed for a Wakedancer because using the Birthing Pod to pull a Devouring Swarm is no fun at all.
May add another Birthing Pod since the deck seems to be revolving around that at the moment

Modernify
Jimlad, 13 years ago
Took out Mother of Runes and added in another Student of Warfare to make the deck Modern-legal. I got four Isamaru, Hound of Konda the other day and I'm looking to add them, I'm just not sure where.

Through the newest update to this deck, it has strayed a bit from it's original design. However, it packs one heck of a punch later game. An unblockable creature that gets stronger with practically every card you play on the field? Heck yeah. Now, it has some added effects through cards like Finest Hour. It isn't terribly original. But, I like the idea of it being unblockable.

i changed a few things around, i subbed the corrupter for a skaab ruinator and changed the molten-tail masticore to a wing splicer, also i swapped the wurmcoil for a frost titan to test it switching two sunpetal groves to hinterland harbors to make up for the blue changes.

Deck Update
ArchVile, 13 years ago
This deck stands to be redone a bit, I'm debating having it become my primary pain deck by loading it up with better cards such as Lightning Bolt, Lava Spike, Gut Shot, Destructive Force, and Leyline of Punishment etc.Increase in quality

More big changes. I needed more mana, so I stole the Mana Vault from my Spirit of the Night Deck and added in a Thran Dynamo as well. To make room for the mana rocks, Dread Cacodemon came out (it costs a billion) and War Elemental too, because it's never as good as you want it to be (that quote courtesy of Rhadamanthus). I also replaced one of the basics with a Molten Slagheap.
I managed to snag a Mondronen Shaman Flip, which fits beautifully. I also got Spiteful Visions, Temple Bell and Bloodgift Demon to help out the card-drawing subtheme. As anticipated, Skullcage didn't make the cut. Syphon Mind, as much as I love it, is counterproductive here. Deathcurse Ogre is pretty lame too, so out he came. Urza-s-Armor came in to help keep me alive long enough to burn everyone else out, so I pulled out a Syphon Soul. It hurt, but it's just a one-shot damage/lifegain spell that I can cast every turn with the Urborg Syphon-Mage.
And finally, I knocked out the Breath of Darigaaz in favor of a full-on Earthquake, because being able to scale that seems much better than only having 2 options.

Went 4-1 and didn't make top 8.
Round 1 - B/U zombies. I had better field control, and it ended up being a comfortable 2-0 for me.
Round 2 - Solar Flare. This guy netdecks without even understanding the purpose each card has in there. An easy 2-0.
Round 3 - B/W Tokens. Intangible Virtue so good! Especially when you have 2-3 each game. Not even my Ratchet Bomb could save me when he had flashback capability with Lingering Souls. I lost 0-2.
Round 4 - B/U Heartless Summoning with Grand Architect and a bunch of powerful artifacts.
Game 1 - Got mana flooded, but I had Mortarpod and a Gravecrawler so I was able to deal 3 dmg per turn, and I ended up killing all his key creatures.
Game 2 - He pulled off a turn 4 Wurmcoil Engine, nuff' said.
Game 3 - Opened the game with 2 Distress, managed to pull a Heartless Summoning and a Wurmcoil Engine. He ended up playing another Wurmcoil Engline but I finally drew my Phyrexian Obliterator for the first time all night, and he ended up saving the day. Won 2-1. Closest series all night.
Round 5 - 4 Color Heartless Reanimator
Game 1 - I kept a 1 land hand with 1x Fume Spitter, Tragic Slip, Diregraf Ghoul, 2x Gravecrawler and a Phyrexian Obliterator. He used Whipflare twice early on and then I was mana screwed on 2 lands for the next 4 turns. Somehow I made the game go on for 15 more minutes, but I ended up losing.
Game 2 - Olivia Voldaren stole all his creatures. I won.
Game 3 - I had a really fast hand while all his lands were coming in tapped, a quick victory for me.
Unfortunately the Token guy that beat me went 0-2 after that, so I got 12th out of 61 :(

Should be noted that the Scepter is just for place holding cards you would rather not get rid of (Caress or Whip). After many plays with this deck found it to be quite annoying to hold onto too few cards. Also if playing Winds of Change take cards back into your hand if worthwhile.

MOAR FNM results

I went 2-2-0. Made a bunch of silly plays and suffered as a result. First 2 rounds go well(though I've forgotten what they were) 2-1 wins for both but then I play one of the guys who is top of my new local meta and he's playing wolf run. I fail the first game with a good fight and manage to pull of the 2nd game but then 3rd game I start making all these silly mistakes like not blowing up his threat with my hellkite because I think 'oh, I've got a wurmcoil, it's all good' he wolfruns me for the game. Last round I lose 0-2 but again all detail has escaped me. Sorry.

This week I went 4-1-0 I don't remember many of the details though being as I was medicated after having my wisdom teeth removed. I do remember a particularly fun (for me) round where first game I got a turn 4 wurmcoil and badgered him with it for 3 turns before dropping a second. He played for another 5 turns or so but ended up scooping as he had no answers. We side board and hit game 2, I manage to drop a turn 3 Wurmcoil followed by a turn 5 metamorph copying wurmcoil. He scoops as it hits the board.
