Win Con for Gruul Enchantress?

Commander Deck Help forum

I'm building a Radha, Heir to Keld enchantress deck, and I'd like to find some good enchantment related wincons. I don't want to go the aura/voltron route, so I was wondering what you all thought?

First, I am not sure you commander is all that great for an Enchantress deck. She's effectively a Llanowar Elves in the Command Zone since her attack trigger is going to be largely irrelevant for many enchantment types.

You are also going to have a fair number of problems due to the lack of White. White gives you access to a number of powerful payoffs, including a large number of enchantresses, strong enchantment finishers like Sigil of the Empty Throne and Ethereal Armor , and removal in the form of Darksteel Mutation and exile enchantments.

Red in particular suffers from a lack of great Enchantment synergies--as a color, it is designed to be rather uninteractive with Enchantments. So, outside of combat shenanigans (which you said you did not want to do), you are in a bit of a bind.

The only real enchantment-related wincon I can think of that has synergy with your commander is Helix Pinnacle . That at least provides you something you can do with mana from attacking. But that is still a minimum amount of counters per turn--you would want to increase that amount substantially. Cards like Doubling Season and Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider help with this some.

You could use various Green enchantments that stick on lands and increase their output-- Dawn's Reflection , Utopia Sprawl , etc.--but those leave you quite susceptible to common land removal like Strip Mine . You would then want some sort of big finishers that are mana intensive (such as hydras with Doubling Season, large X spells, Helix Pinnacle, etc.) you can sink the mana into.

I was thinking that same thing. Helix Pinnacle is gonna be your most straight forward wincon that's not combat based. I'm not good with combos but maybe theres something good with Pattern of Rebirth . Maybe Tooth and Nail can grab 2 of the best creatures for the deck. Idk I'm not into combos that much but I know a few. Like Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker has a bunch.

To build on what griffstick said, there are a number of two-creature combos with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker ... and you can use the enchantment Defense of the Heart to tutor the entire combo into play.

Kiki + Great Oak Guardian is probably one of your better options--not only will it give you infinite Great Oka Gaurdians, it will allow you to swing with infinitely large enchantresses on the turn you execute the combo.

Right. And either one of those 3 cards can tutor Godo, Bandit Warlord witch will tutor Helm of the Host into play then attach it to him for infinite combats for the win.

On-topic for what you're planning, you can use Ancestral Mask and Nylea's Colossus to get something really big before you rumble in. There's also passive damage you can stack up with Overabundance , Mana Barbs, Sulfuric Vortex , Court of Ire , et cetera to whittle people down. Sandwurm Convergence makes a lot of beef. It's mana intensive but Pyrohemia and Rite of Passage means you can have a thing that lives while you keep pinging everything. There's also the aforementioned Helix Pinnacle if you're looking at having a lot of mana.

Of course, if you think some thing demand a more personal touch, you could slam a Form of the Dragon and off someone yourself.

A finisher in some Legacy Enchantress decks is Words of War . I haven't played EDH Enchantress, so I don't know if drawing the critical amount of cards per turn is a thing they can do or not. I too am a little surprised that you didn't include white, if only for Serra's Sanctum . Though again, I am only familiar with Legacy Enchantress, which is a GW deck with occasional splashes so minor that it isn't even GWx.

(holy cow, didn't realize how expensive sanctum was getting.)

I'm dabbling with an idea for a Gruul group slug enchantress deck led by Klothys, God of Destiny , to flood the board with staxy and punishing enchantments like Price of Glory , Titania's Song and Citadel of Pain , but the reason I'm dabbling and not building is because I'm not completely sure how viable it is, mostly due to the points Caerwyn already mentioned in the first response.

To make the flavour very Gruul, how about Rampage of the Clans ? This could beautifully be combined with Creeping Renaissance and/or Storm Herald if it somehow isn't enough.

Hey, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker has already been mentioned and he's a good source of combos because if not comboing then he can copy Enchantresses especially Eidolon of Blossoms . Purphoros, God of the Forge or Impact Tremors can be win conditions with Kiki combos.

Dockside Extortionist + Temur Sabertooth + Purphoros, God of the Forge or Impact Tremors . Dockside + Sabertooth makes infinite mana with treasures by repeatedly bouncing and casting Dockside which makes Purphoros or Tremors the win condition. Eidolon of Blossoms can draw into your library until you find Purphoros or Tremors since after you make infinite mana with Dockside then repeatedly bounce Blossoms with Sabertooth.

A budget combo: Rhythm of the Wild + Aerie Ouphes + Impact Tremors since Aerie can sac itself then it can repeatedly return to the battlefield with persist because of +1/+1 counter from Wild.

Combine that with Epic Struggle

You know a token enchantress strategy might be pretty strong. Beastmaster Ascension for the win.

There's plenty of mono-green enchantresses out there (and red can always copy them if needed), plus red and green have a lot of draw power on their own. Green has all of the enchantment ramp, and green and red both push damage. I see this as a totally viable strategy.

There's always the tried and true 'find some pesky thing to voltron up' strategy. And there's a lot of good suggestions in this thread for options ranging from group slug to combo-aggro. I like it :)
