So on the most basic level is to have Lich's Mastery out Axis of Mortality get your life to 0 or less and upkeep swap life with the opponent and win.

The only issues with this is getting to 6 mana with the right colors and not losing in the process. This is where the rest of the deck comes into play which I will cover more in depth under "card breakdown" but the genral idea is to use various kill spells and lifegain to stay alive while mana fixing till the combo is out, then from there Arguel's Blood Fast   is the most simple way for life loss.

Lich's Mastery

the mana cost isnt much of a worry since 3/4 of the deck is black having this combination is not much to worry about.

Legendary Enchantment

legendary enchantment means that i only need 1 of them but i still keep it as a 4 of, this is because it is not only vital to win with the combo but the dedck has alot of inbuilt lifegain the abuse it and as soon as it comes the deck begins to shine. having more then 1 in a game can be avoided (or not feel as bad to draw) as there is lots of card draw and filtering, also once one is out it can be exiled to its 4th ability.

Hexproof

this would be unplayable without this ability this also mean you can have no fear about discarding or exiling any other copies as this one isnt going anywhere

You can't lose the game.

we can have less then 0 life did you say hmmmmmmmmm.

note: this doesnt stop Approach of the Second Sun from winning the game but that is rotating out at the end of year and i built this deck so only a few uninportant cards rotate

Whenever you gain life, draw that many cards.

Renewed Faith , Moment of Craving , Orazca Relic all these draft chaff suddenly become rediculously op that fit into the deck nicely adding immence card advantage

Whenever you lose life, for each 1 life you lost, exile a permanent you control or a card from your hand or graveyard.

the deck is built so when this enters play you should have a cozy buffer on averge of about 10 cards and be able to explode with lifegain or atleast scrape through till upkeep to win the game

When Lich's Mastery leaves the battlefield, you lose the game.

a the moment the only way this can happen is from the previous ability, sorry commander players Reverent Silence , Back to Nature , etc

Axis of Mortality

its pretty greedy of me to only have 2 plains in the deck but will all the draw and fatching effects, its not often that you will lack the colour to cast this

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may have two target players exchange life totals.

Pretty simple, 0 life, swap win.

Note:this effect does target the player so with Shalai, Voice of Plenty in standard we need removal before we swap

note: the effect of swapping life basically means the opponent loses or gain life to become equal to yours and vise versa, so with Lich's Mastery out if you can't win swapping life totals if you are behind will let you draw a bunch of cards which is quite nice

Arguel's Blood Fast  

nice and early for a easy mana investment, probably the lowest priority on the 2 mana slot however, Treasure Map   needs to get working as fast as it can and the 2 drop creatures clogging up the board to get Settle the Wreckage value should be done as fast as they can as they provide instant value

, Pay 2 life: Draw a card.

this is how you get your life to 0 preferably, its the best card as it digs for combo early game and late game, in responce to Axis of Mortality trigger, tap 2 land, 2 life, sac the land you tapped, repeat. and also compard to an alternative like Adanto Vanguard its more controlable. like if you dont want to sac the land you have just drawn cards that if they arnt of any value can just be exiled instead

At the beginning of your upkeep, if you have 5 or less life, you may transform Arguel's Blood Fast.

the flip side is pretty bad with the creatures but this is a MAY ability meaing that you dont have to transform if you dont want to which is quite nice.

Vraska's Contempt

this card is very good at answering cards that my deck struggles to beat like The Scarab God making a massive board, Gideon of the Trials requiring removal before i can win, Hazoret the Fervent smacking face, Chandra, Torch of Defiance ultimate, ect. however all of these massive threats that Vraska's Contempt kills so easily are rotating out. the lifegain is very nice but the price tag on a card that I dont "need" is a bit much.

Shalai, Voice of Plenty

this is a mabey, depending on what decks arise with domineria and eventually core 2019 if any deck gains traction that involves burning the face or osmthing along that line Shalai, Voice of Plenty might become a solid SB card but at the moment its kinda usless

Isolated Chapel

this will replace Aether Hub when it rotates out, im currently using Aether Hub because i have a playset from my previous jank combo deck laying around and Isolated Chapel is sitting around the $5 mark

Karn, Scion of Urza

this card is good in alot of decks and might even see moden play in my opinion but dure to budget reasons this card will probably not end up in the deck any time soon

Ritual of Rejuvenation

the closest to Renewed Faith but it is kind of a in between, another card to consider as it draws

Healing Grace with Lich's Mastery out this is a better ansestrial recall but the power of Renewed Faith draws cards before Lich's Mastery comes out and helps dig for combo and when it is out its a draw 6 but Healing Grace is only a draw 3 so I may have to dedicate 4x slot for it insted of just 2x

Sanguine Sacrament

this is another lifegain card that will be a strictly worse version of Renewed Faith as mana efficeny wise to draw 6 is so for this card to become better than Renewed Faith the ammount of cards is would end up conincidently drawing will be restricted by the ammount of cards left in the deck.

Inspiring Cleric

its like Ritual of Rejuvenation but can be conditionally better depending on the match up, i havent playtested it but putting up a chup blocker or pressuring a planeswalker seems like a decent alternitive to drawing a card and a 3/2 for isnt terrible...

red black agro

a bunch of casual games against a friend whos deck is basicly mono red agro but cutting a few bits and adding stuff like cut//ribbons and Unlicensed Disintegration . my deck having the edge of lifegain MB and with enough removal i was able to slow him down enough for all the games bar one when he won on his turn 4 my turn 3 and i had Settle the Wreckage in hand

8 wack God-Pharaoh's Gift

a super cool deck with Skirk Prospector to use Gate to the Afterlife and reanimate Combat Celebrant and some high value goblins. game one: he got his turn 6 God-Pharaoh's Gift into Combat Celebrant into goblin putting me down to -4 life, next turn i slam Axis of Mortality with Renewed Faith mana and Arguel's Blood Fast   and there was no winning through that. game 2: he nut drew and turn 3 God-Pharaoh's Gift with 2 Combat Celebrant combo. game 3: got super close as i ended up chaining 2x Orazca Relic cracks into Renewed Faith and upkeep won with -30 life and nothing in hand or graveyard and on the ballefeild 1x Axis of Mortality and 1x Lich's Mastery

GW tokens

a fairly casual tokens deck with a mix a servos and saprolings. game 1: she swung in for lethal on turn 4 and i Settle the Wreckage for 8 land and she hand 1 card in hand and i had 6, proceded to 1 for 1 with Arguel's Blood Fast   on the feild, flipped 2 Treasure Map   and after 3/4 of my deck i finally go the pices to win. game 2: started with a harsh mull to 5 which i proceded to duress and screw up her draws for the next 5 turns due to color screw, did the beat down game with 1/1 and 2/2 while having removal for every card

UW aproach (finals)

net decked generic, game 1: Approach of the Second Sun wins through Lich's Mastery so with low hopes it was draw go and drew every removal spell i had, Approach of the Second Sun into Approach of the Second Sun gg. game 2: Gideon of the Trials came down emblemed (ie, doesnt die to Axis of Mortality) and my small creature count was calmy controled as he worked to Approach of the Second Sun into Approach of the Second Sun and i didnt draw a single of my 4x Duress . i didnt take the loss too hard and i am awear that it is my worst match up by far espically in the curernt meta
