Nissa, Interplanar Harvester

Oathbreaker GU (Simic) Multiplayer

Nissa, Interplanar Harvester Deck Overview

With the Oathbreaker scene growing at my LGS I looked into what I could put together and ran across my Nissa, Steward of Elements . While I believe she was my first planeswalker, she is the spitting image of "meh" in a format that looks to run flashy leaders such as Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God , Gideon Blackblade , and Brothers Teferi ( Teferi, Hero of Dominaria , Teferi, Time Raveler ). I knew those decks were what I'd have to build to beat and set out to do the best I could, hence the Simic Combine's very own machine of war.

Gameplan

Nissa, Steward of Elements is a massive value engine contained in a 2 CMC card in your Command Zone. Her +2 helps churn through the deck and the 0 ability cheats mana costs if it hits, and is especially good when you have the ability to know what is on top. My signature spell of choice, Nissa's Triumph , allows for insane value the moment you can cast it, and why would we search for three mana when we have the ability to fetch seven?

Nissa is extremely important to land on turn two as that provides for almost no reaction time from our opponent(s) to deal with her after going up to three loyalty before the next turn. As a result, an opening hand of one blue, two green, and a turn one ramp creature is the best start we could hope for (even more so if Summer Bloom is present). Following a turn two Nissa, cast a turn three Triumph and enjoy the disgusted faces as you reveal the Urza trio.

(It is important to note that while this deck could be built to favor large Eldrazi creatures, I was working more or less with what I hand on hand and opted not to use my Titans. If you enjoy that route more than Simic goodness, I encourage you to go for it!)

Once Tron is in hand the goal is to play it out and continue to tick up Nissa unless you have Vizier of the Menagerie or a similar effect on board to begin using her 0 ability without the chance to wiff. The deck begins to shine when the third piece hits the field and we can start casting big spells as early as turn five or six. A combo I'm still seeking to pull off is Avenger of Zendikar + Rite of Replication + Kamahl's Druidic Vow . The potential to have six Avengers on board and a two or three land hit of Vow would lead to a fairly quick resolution of the game. Another combo is Finale of Devastation + God-Eternal Rhonas . Cast Finale with X=/>10 to fetch Rhonas and your board gains +20/+20. When the going gets tough and you can't swing through with smaller utility creatures, Ghalta, Primal Hunger + Hadana's Climb   + Thassa, God of the Sea ensures a 95% chance of winning 80% of the time.

Conclusion

TL;DR- Nissa, Steward of Elements + Nissa's Triumph leads to quick games where casting big. answer-demanding spells typically come too soon for opponents to have any kind of defense or answer present. If mechanical advantage and raw power are things you enjoy, the Combine's Interplanar Harvester may be just right for you.

The overall polishing of the deck is still a WIP. I plan to snow-out the rest of the basic lands and include Ice-Fang Coatl when MH drops. I'm building 40 more cards around the deck to create a Momir Vig, Simic Visionary EDH deck and may look into swapping some of those cards into this Oathbreaker list, such as Frilled Mystic or Mystic Snake . If I've missed any kind of combos or interactions that would improve the flow, consistency, or power of this deck, let me know! If you yourself deign to build and play this deck, or a variant of, I'd love to know how it goes!

As always, many thanks to everyone who offers help. Aro
