Bioessence Hydra Discussion

Bringiton4 on Hydraponic

Thank you for your feedback! I agree I need more ramp I’m liking Utopia Sprawl instead of Bioshift . Bioessence Hydra was one of the reasons I decided to make the deck so I’d like to keep it in if I can. I agree adding red isan’t the right way to go.

If you change your deck to Simic you could try Bioessence Hydra and Growth Spiral .

I like the option of having 3 different planeswalkers out that can benefit from any proliferate triggers. My choice for the 3rd planeswalker would be Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter . Once Evolution Sage is proliferating, use his -1 ability each turn to both boost your creature's power and give you an extra mana-ramp option. Putting 3, +1/+1 counters on Bioessence Hydra almost every turn could end up being fun.

Vivien, Arkbow Ranger may be better, but my focus would be on lower cmc cards played earlier in the game to set things up for later (not that 3-drops are really early game cards).

If you can then ult Nissa you should be more-or-less set.

With so much focus on Bioessence Hydra , it would be great if you could work in an extra planeswalker and Evolution Sage . It may take a while before you have Gargos, Vicious Watcher effectively enabling you to summon a 8/9 Voracious Hydra for , but this would be deadly in the late game. I would be sorely tempted to split my strategy between Bioessence Hydra and Evolution Sage as a mid-range strategy and fewer copies of the other hydras for the late game. The early game against aggro decks will remain a bit of a challenge.

I would get rid of the Bioessence Hydra is only worth it with a lot of Planeswalkers. I would add in instead Pir, Imaginative Rascal and his buddy Toothy, Imaginary Friend . Also Sphinx of the Guildpact has nothing to do with your strategy better add Thrummingbird . Thicket Elemental is also something to consider to get rid of and instead run Vigor . Omnibian is also something i wouldn't run --> Deepglow Skate is better. Bloom Hulk also is not really something you would want to run Inexorable Tide is miles better.

If you can get a hand on Pongify and Rapid Hybridization that would be really good.

Looks a lot like the planeswalker deck I just built. I agree it’s a shame about not having red, but I think the commander is worth it. I have a lot of cards with proliferate in mine, and mostly focused on planeswalkers that produce tokens and +1/+1 counters. You’ve got some good cards in here that I hadn’t come across yet, too! You might also consider Bioessence Hydra or Spark Double . Looks good, definitely stick with the 4 color.

This post is better than some of your other ones, but there's still a lot of superfluous text. Don't take this a negative response, but as some constructive criticism. You're far, far more likely to get the deck help you need with a shorter, to the point post. I realize it might be tough for you, but it will help increase the chance that you'll get the responses you're looking for! Most people will see a wall of text and just click away from there.

Always start with a link to the decklist if the questions are about a specific deck.

I'm going to refine this to show you how concise this post could really be.

1) Which combo is more effective in this deck?

2) Is Urza, Lord High Artificer worth a card slot in this deck?

3) Which card draw card is best in this deck?

4) Is Oath of Gideon worth a card slot in this deck?

5) Are there any Gideon planeswalkers worth running in this deck?

6) Are there any Nissa planeswalkers worth running in this deck?

7) Does running Nexus of Fate require running a tutor like Liliana Vess to be effective?

8) Is Bioessence Hydra worth a card slot in this deck?

This concise form is less than one-fifth the size of your original post to ask the same questions. The key to remember is that people are lazy and far more likely to assist someone if it takes less effort on their part.

Going forward, carefully consider each sentence in your post. Ask yourself, "Is this vital to the question I am asking?" if you even hesitate when considering a sentence, leave it out.

Remember the old adage: "Less is more!"
