Say hello to the beta Nicol Bolas Curse deck

Unlike a lot of Bolas decks, this deck isnt particularly concerned with trying to get Bolas out for the W. The Bolas spells are more of a sit-back-and-relax until I really want to wreak havoc. Ive always had making a Bolas deck in the back of my mind and with the HOD set I decided it was finally time to buckle down and try to make one. Curses really appealed to me and Im a theme-over-function type of deck builder. I figured it was really in-character for Bolas to go direct-to-opponent and aim for the player directly in some fashion.

Looking at it as a whole, this deck is a little everywhere but playtests more or less have it functioning quite well with some plays top decking by turn 6, which is impressive imo for a deck that isnt 60. Overall, the deck falls short on lands and creatures...you know, two of the most essential parts of any deck...

The synergy is good overall but the entire thing falls apart if you dont hit your third land drop on time. Having an opening hand with a gem and 3 Lands is ideal but drawing into these things by turn 3 or the Trophy Mage works too and it happens a half-decent amount of times. The gem basically gets rid of the land problem and the Nest of Scarabs gets rid of the creature problem thanks to spells like Venom and Agony, and the creatures Festering Mummy, Ammit Eternal (Opponent casting a spell = insect), Plague Belcher, and The Scorpion God (1RB = insect).

All in all though, the priority, like with any curse deck is getting Bitterheart Witch cast and dead (maybe with your own killspell or Belcher) or casting Misfortunes asap. Theres figuratively 5 of them to draw into since theres two of the Curses and 3 Witches

Overwhelming Splendor is in there because it creature wipes when comboed with Deaths Hold and the idea is to hope to never draw into it and misfortunes/witch it out. Just in case you do draw into it, I put Cascading Cataracts in there to give the deck the ability to hardcast it.
