Non-Bloodbraid Ponza [UPDATED]

The deck starts off pretty basic with your standard green ramp of Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl and Birds of Paradise; usually either 2 or 3 of the latter, I prefer 2.

Next comes your basic land destruction suite with a full set of Mwonvuli Acid-Moss, Stone Rain and the now available Pillage. To that I add three BloodMoon, with a fourth AND a full set of Trinisphere at the ready in my sideboard. I've found that you really want to have both available because each wrecks different kinds of decks.

For removal I add a Scavenging Ooze, 2x Bramblecrush (great for Planeswalkers, among other things) and 3x Bonfire of the Damned. Now for some, Bonfire is a controversial choice, but its always served me well - well enough that I keep a fourth in the sideboard. Some would prefer Lightning Bolt or Anger of the Gods rather than rely on the 'miraculous' appearance of Bonfire, but I don't see it that way. With this deck you get enough mana ramp to be able to hardcast Bonfire effectively, and the truth is that its mana-dorks, swarms and other relatively weak creatures with powerful abilities that this deck tends to worry about; Bonfire cleans them all out while leaving yours safely intact. Meanwhile ScOoze has saved my bacon so many times I ALWAYS maindeck at least one when playing green, especially when I have fetch cards like Primal Command.

For the midgame I have my aces in 2x Chandra, Torch of Defiance, 3x Tireless Tracker and a full set of Primal Command. Chandra and the tracker give you card draw and some alternate win conditions, but its the Command that's the true gem of this deck. Lot of tricks you can pull with it, but its most common use is bouncing a land to the top of your opponent's deck while tutoring up one of your finishers. Don't overlook its other abilities though because they can be situationally game-changing.

I usually main deck a pair of finishers - the infamous Inferno Titan and the terrifying Carnage Tyrant. I keep a pair of others in my sideboard - a Stormbreath Dragon and a Chameleon Colossus which might be a little less terrifying but can still be brutally effective depending on what I'm seeing across the table.
