Homebrew build. Fun build to play Two headed Giant with. This deck has great card synergy throughout. Take a look and enjoy. This deck is a work in progress...again. ""Description is NOT up to date. Deck is currently being revised.""

Illness in the Ranks

Cut and dry you need this card to win. You also have Virulent Plague to work with but a turn 1 Forbidden Orchard followed up by Illness in the Ranks IS your best T1 play. Off that you can start to sap life away from your opponent with the likes of Blood Artist and Trespasser's Curse.

-Forbidden Orchard + Illness in the Ranks . Almost everything works well with this combo. Rainbow mana and the token will die when it enters. Pairs well with Blood Artist, and Trespasser's Curse.

-Hunted Troll and Hunted Phantasm Cheep nasty beaters with no drawbacks, so long as you have Illness in the Ranks out.

-Mercy Killing Now there is more to this card than a decent kill spell, more on that later. But it will kill almost anything and with the right card combo out it will result with a decent bit of life loss for your opponent.

-Thoughtseize Tried and true discard.
  • Surgical Extraction Most people wont run this card, but completely removing a card and its copies will go a long way against decks that center around one card. Getting rid of something like Karn Liberated, Grapeshot, Amulet of Vigor, or Blood Moon has a good chance of putting you in a place to win the game. Now this usually goes in have with playing another spell like Thoughtseize but if you target the right card it gives you allot of advantages.

-Infernal Tutor fetch a second copy of a card you need or tutor a card if your hand is empty. It is useful.

-Sylvan Scrying ideally you only search for 2 different land with this. Forbidden Orchard and Ghost Quarter, use it to mana fix if you need to.

-Turn to Mist This is a ''win more'' card but it can do a little protection. Basically after you drop one of the 2 Hunted creatures you can flutter it then and have the ETB effect trigger twice or wait til after you attack the next turn and then flutter it.

-Serum Visions For a bit of draw and the scry adds a bit of consistency to your plays.

-Abrupt Decay The kill it and be gone with it card. Will get rid of most treats.

-Ghostly Prison I saw this card run in a different build that had a large focus on white, their reason for the add is the same as mine. This deck has little to no defense against aggro decks. Landing one of these will slow aggro builds down allot. Also this will allow you to use Forbidden Orchard a bit more freely if you haven't landed either token hate cards. This is your defensive plan if you need more time.

Now there is a variety of ways to deal damage in the deck but almost all center around tokens.
  • Light damage- This can and will be done with the simple combo of Forbidden Orchard + Illness in the Ranks and either Blood Artist or Trespasser's Curse. Mercy Killing can do light damage as well using Illness in the ranks and either vampire.

  • Heavy damage- This is what you are going for! When this hits it will deal large amounts of damage and the more pieces you have in play the higher the damage will be. The most basic can hit T3 like this, Blood Artist + Hunted Phantasm + Illness in the Ranks . This set up will play out like this, Cast hunted phantasm, It clears, 5 1/1 goblins enter and die via the state based action of Illness in the ranks, Blood artist will trigger 5 times; netting a loss of five life for your opponent, and a gain of 5 life for you. With a second blood artist or a single copy of Trespasser's Curse will double this to 10 loss of life for your opponent. Hunted Troll Will work out the same way. You can catch most opponents out of the blue with this kind of play.

  • Alternate damage- Both hunted creatures are strong beaters to use but you will need illness in the ranks or Virulent Plague out to deal with the tokens. Mercy Killing has potential to be a decent boon now with the coming of the Large eldrazi like Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. If your Illness in the ranks and at least one vampire are spared from the ETB effect you will be able to remove the threat and deal a good chunk of damage. Also Targeting your own Hunted troll wont be a bad option either if the game could be ended via the live loss.

-Hurkyl's Recall and Natural State is your Affinity match up cards. Natural State Will be needed to be sided in for Bloom titan just to help you slow titan from going off.

-Vampire Hexmage is your answer for tron and other planeswalkers. It is also useful against affinity.

-Spellskite This is a simple enough card to explain. Useful against Burn, Boggles, and the like. Just redirect some of those troublesome spells so you can buy yourself a little bit more time.

-Engineered Explosives main reason i added this is to help on the Boggles match up. There are other uses you will find but Boggles seemed to be troublesome enough to warrant a specific card.

-Ghost Quarter Tron, Tron, Tron, and a bit of Black Eldrazi. for reasons im sure you can see.

Updates Add

So Improvements are being made but I'll be honest the deck record isn't the best. Trespasser's Curse was a homerun add for the deck. But after 3 different game nights at my local shop, more than a few issues were noticed in the deck. Mana was a issue, and i think i fixed that with 2 Lotus Blooms added to main and 1 or 2 changes to lands used. I got stomped by Delver so i'm looking into getting a fourth Cavern of Souls, for now the count has been upped to 3 with Reflecting Pool. If anyone has a good recommendation for a cheap counterspell that 1. fits the deck and 2. can take Sylvan Scrying's spot i would love to hear it. For now that's all for deck update. Im still working on a few issues in the deck but i will update when it is changed.
