Deathtouch (Any amount of damage this deals to a creature is enough to destroy it.)
Greater Basilisk only has 3 power; at 5 mana I want more than that. It's more of a defensive creature then an offensive creature. In terms of fatties I want to have creatures with 5+ power... opponents will be stuck with losing 5+ life per attacking creature or losing their creatures. Nyxborn Wolf isn't fatty enough, despite having the upside of Bestow. (It also won't trigger Packleader when you bestow it.) Vorrac Battlehorns is a maybe. Space is limited and I don't want to have too many slots devoted to trample enablers. I like Horned Helm because at instant speed I can equip it to whichever fatty the opponent decides to chump block.
In order to understand the power of the deck you need to see a joke Gruul deck a friend of mine plays with Jerrard of the Closed Fist . He runs only creatures that are 5-6 mana and are 5/5 or 6/6 vanilla creatures, and in Multiplayer Pauper EDH it is really fascinating how 3-5 creatures of that size attacking each turn can really dominate a game. Many times he'll swing at Control players who don't want to lose their utility creatures and they end up taking 20+ damage.
Nice deck, +1. What about Greater Basilisk ? Triggers Garruk's Packleader and is a great groundblocker. Nyxborn Wolf could be nice, too, due to bestow - you cast it as an Aura, then if the enchanted creature dies, the Wolf stays as a creature and triggers Packleader, too. (And you can cast him as a 3 mana 3/1 in a pinch.) There's also Vorrac Battlehorns . And I'd take out Maze Behemoth , its second ability doesn't affect any of your creatures. Well, these are my suggestions.
@jotjot: Rule 702.2b applies to damage distribution in combat. This allows a creature with death touch (say Greater Basilisk ) to assign only 1 damage to a creature before moving on to assign damage to the next attacking or blocking creature, or to the player if a creature has deathtouch and trample.
The first card that I really called my own was a Greater Basilisk . I made a voltron type deck with my friend's cards focused around it (I was kinda stupid, but it worked and kicked all of their asses while they focused on ridiculous stuff) and bought the deck off him for something like $10. It was sooo worth it. I got one of the Snake mothers from Kamigawa and a lot of decent equipments and auras. And so, that was how I got into Magic shortly before Avacyn Restored.
