Best ramp for edh? Best equipment?

For this deck.

What do you guys think are the best ramp spells for this format? I'm trying to make a really fast kill deck, and need CMC<4 spells that tutor and place lands on the battlefield, or something similar. I'm trying to avoid mana rocks, as my deck is equipment voltron and I don't want too many artifacts.

Also, what are some really swingy equipments I can run? I'm trying to make the deck more powerful and want to replace some of the smaller equips with heavy hitters.

If you run green, there's a slew of mana sorceries and a few isntants.

One of the better generals for the kind of EDH that you seem to want to build is Sigarda, Host of Herons . This puts you in G/W. G gives you ramp like Nature's Lore and Skyshroud Claim and W gives you stuff like Stoneforge Mystic and Stonehewer Giant .

I missed the deck link lol. After looking I can say you are in a serious need for Skyshroud Claim and Nature's Lore . Sylvan Scrying and Expedition Map are also useful. Farseek can even put you ahead.

I know it's equipment voltron but Endless Horizons is a good place to drop in an enchantment. As is Land Tax if you can afford it. Endless can allow you to search for the shockland and nab it when you need it.

What colours? What general?

Good ramp are things like Burgeoning , Exploration , Skyshroud Claim , Solemn Simulacrum (sorry last 2 are 4cmc). as for euipments, there are ton's. Sword of Fire and Ice and it's ilk, Batterskull , Loxodon Warhammer , Darksteel Plate , Fireshrieker , Mage Slayer , Quietus Spike , Strata Scythe , Sunforger , and Whispersilk Cloak are all the first ones that come to my mind

Do i get bonus points for suggesting a ramp equipment? (Explorer's Scope )

I didn't see the deck name either :/ That makes this all easy, I'll be in to comment soon.

Okay all, here is the link for the deck in cased you somehow missed it in the OP.

I have most of the cards that you have suggested, and I'm even running Sigarda, Host of Herons (@Ohthenoises).

I'm looking for larger effects than Rampant Growth -type effects (2CMC, search for one land.) I'm also looking for creatures that can ramp upon etb, and looking for better equipments than the ones I already have listed.

Things I like in equpment are the swords, Sword of Fire and Ice and it's brethen. Umezawa's Jitte is another, Batterskull can not go without mention, Fireshrieker is another good one, Lightning Greaves and it's counter part Swiftfoot Boots . These tend to be the best ones.

Ramp is available in many forms, from Dark Ritual and Desperate Ritual to greens mana dorks and search spells to white's Land Tax and the ever powerful (lesser used) Path to Exile on your own creature. Fetch lands (of all types) really help with fixing and if using Deathrite Shaman help ramp strategies. Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Cabal Coffers is bad ass ramp, adding in Crypt Ghast and Liliana of the Dark Realms . There are many ways to ramp without mana rocks.

Tutors are strong in white for artifacts/enchantments (thinking umbra's here with totem armor, like Spider Umbra and the above mentioned Stoneforge Mystic ), green has strong creature tutors along with land tutors. For example, Green Sun's Zenith and Tooth and Nail .

I concur a green/white one would be good, but I think you want a bant one, Rafiq of the Many and run with exalted triggers and equipment. Which also gives you access to Noble Hierarch for ramp. also Finest Hour is an awesome enchantment..

Saffi Eriksdotter is another good one. you want a cheap commander that gives you awesome abilities to be able to pull them out multiple times.

Good equipment will have a low cmc and a low equp cost.

To reply to some of these posts:

I might think about Endless Horizons , but the 4CMC really restricts it for me, as well as the risk to be blown out by enchantment hate. Land Tax is not good for me, since I'll be doing the hard ramping and will usually have the most lands on the board.

I would consider Farseek , Nature's Lore , Rampant Growth , and cards in that slot, I just want to know what other options I have. I would prefer creatures that ramp.

I also want bigger equipments, so that I don't feel like I have to drop all my gear at once. Also, every card in the maybeboard is something I've already considered and need to either acquire or find a slot for. Also, since I'm running Sigarda, Host of Herons as general, I'm restricted to G/W.

Krayhaft Do not over extend, it's a fundamental of game play as there is always removal and things you need to deal with. you do not have to drop your equipment all at once and you shouldn't Patience is important.

If you can run all 5 swords do so, he protection alone makes them worth inclusion, the extra abilities are just gravy.

In my experience, SoWaP isn't the best in my edh deck, because often both me and the opp. will have no cards in hand and its additional effects will be marginal.

The pro white/red still becomes relevant IMO.

I would consider SoWaP though, just because of pro-red. Sigarda already has protection from many kill effects (sac and targeted removal), but having pro-red would make her immune to red-style board wipes.

It depends. I run a Bant deck with the staple green ramp spells and it actually provides a lot of acceleration, but some spells are admittedly slower than others.

Nature's Lore and Skyshroud Claim were suggested earlier, and they're very strong. I like them more in tricolor decks because they provide more advantage when used with duals and shocks.

Krayhaft says... #19

The reason I'm hesitant on running Nature's Lore and Farseek is because in my G/W, Nature's Lore just looks for either Forest or Temple Garden , and Farseek only finds Plains and Temple Garden . I may stick in Nature's Lore if I find a space for it, since the etb untapped bit makes it stronger.

August 25, 2013 9:54 p.m.

They're better in tricolor. In bicolor, you can basically run most of the green ramp spells to decent effect. It really depends on the deck construction and how much ramp you actually want.
