Here is a shot at a Modern snow pile without Arcum's Astrolabe: a mostly Simic, 5 color Midrange deck. The goal is to swing with Abominable Treefolk or a Marit Lage's Slumber's token to win, so a total of 28 snow permanents was boarded.

With 1-2 lands and 4-8 spells each, the splashes are cheap and small: On Thin Ice, Dead of Winter and Skred. They form the deck's signature removal core, something Simic usually lacks.
