I've been thinking about building an Esper EDH, so I'll keep a lot of these cards in mind.

On a side note, that Sol Ring picture is VERY high quality.

+1 for esper artifacts. By far the best shard. ;)

I think Path to Exile should be in this deck alongside Dispatch instead of Doom Blade. Exiling is a powerful effect, and the more access you have to it, the better.

Regarding your sideboard, I'd like to see some Hurkyl's Recall to deal with Affinity, which is a very fast deck that could give you some problems. I'd also like to see Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas as a more aggressive finisher somewhere in your 75. Engineered Explosives is a cheap and versatile sweeper that should also be in the deck, since you can tune it to cause you minimal damage while wiping the opponent's whole board (it also means you don't need Glaring Spotlight, because it can kill the likes of Slippery Bogle or Geist of Saint Traft unassisted). Witchbane Orb is far too slow against Burn and Jund (the matchups where you being targeted matters) - consider Leyline of Sanctity instead.

Sun Droplet is potentially playable in the SB if burn is that bad of a matchup.

In the main, I'd consider some number of Mana Leak, Remand and Dispel. These are basically catch-alls if the opponent tries anything too fancy, and I think some combo of them are required for control. (maybe 2/2/1?)

I've been thinking about charms, and Dimir Charm/Esper Charm seem playable. Have you considered them? Also, perhaps try out a more 'aggressive' sweeper like Drown in Sorrow (black Pyroclasm :P)

Also with your land base, I think the Marsh Flats should be Flooded Strands or Polluted Deltas, as they fetch basic islands.

@ rothgar13 - Thanks for the suggestions, I'm not entirely sure where to fit Path to Exile in however in regards to the sideboard I've added Hurkyl's Recall, Engineered Explosives and Leyline of Sanctity in place of Glaring Spotlight, Witchbane Orb and Echoing Truth. I've also switched out a Cryptic Command for a Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas for the moment to see how it goes.

@ rorofat - Thankyou for your input! I've switched Doom Blade with a few copies of Mana Leak, I've never been a huge fan of Remand, and Dispel is already in my sideboard against those matchups where I really need it. I haven't really considered the charms before and I'm not convinced on Dimir Charm however I could see myself potentially switching Thirst for Knowledge for some Esper Charms simply due to their versatility. With my choice on Marsh Flats, it's there as black mana is sometimes hard to come by in this deck, if I'm desperate it allows me to fetch my Swamp however most other times it'll fetch a Hallowed Fountain. I can see that Polluted Delta will do the same thing AND give me the option of a basic Island if needed so I've made that switch. Thankyou again for your help!

Have you ever considered running Delay over Mana Leak it is cruel given that 3turns in competitive play is essentially the end of a game given how fast paced such play can be. Worst case scenario you've bought 3 turns to draw into a Dispatch or alternative answer, in case the game begins to stretch.

@ ArchFline - Thanks for your suggestion! If only modern had access to Counterspell or Mana Drain! In play testing the deck I've found that Mana Leak is effectively a Counterspell in the early game and if I happen to draw it later game the extra 3 mana the opponent has to pay makes it valuable enough to run. It's always been difficult for me to decide between Mana Leak, Remand and Delay however I lean towards Mana Leak as it's the only option which can deal with the spell for good. If I had to choose between Remand and Delay I think Remand would win simply due to the card draw factor. What are your opinions?

Delay is bad, dude. Don't play that. Remand at least gets you a card back. And you're right in thinking that Mana Leak is better than either.

Then perhaps to get greater use out of your creatures you could use Familiar's Ruse the downside of the card could actually be used as a hidden possitive.

I seriously like this deck... It's always good to see a competitive control deck that still keeps its flavour!

Have you looked at a copy or two of Sydri, Galvanic Genius to help you gain life/animate any top decked artifacts that are beyond their use (such as Chromatic Lantern). Just a thought, though honestly you might be fine without it.

Keep up the good brewing, and check out some of my decks if you are bored. :D

Looks good, but if you want, some single turn lockdown options could be used as you said earlier. For this deck, I feel you have more options other than just Silence; For instance, you could even use Grand Abolishers, Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, and even Render Silent. You even have some room for Isochron Scepter. It would go nicely with Mana Leak or even Boomerang if you really want to get nasty. There is no shortage of 2 cost instant spells for removal, countering, bouncing or single turn lockdown.

@ DevilsAdvocate - I hadn't really thought about Isochron Scepter in this deck, but imprinting a Mana Leak, Boomerang or even Silence would be brutal to watch. I'll switch the Dispatch for Silence for now and also maybe the Vedalken Shackles for Isochron Scepter and see how it goes for now.

As for Grand Abolisher and Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir It'd be interesting to see how much they would effect the rest of the deck. I've been steering clear of non-artifact creatures as both tezzeret's, the Mox Opal, Scourglass and Dispatch all favoured artifacts.

Probably shouldn't bother with isochron scepter. You only have 5 cards in total to put on it. Seems like it will be a dead card most of the time.

@ Loyalty : That's the trouble with lockdown decks, you cannot really see their performance until you test it real time, and you have to commit to it. I am still acquiring the cards for Sit down and shut up. When it is done, I will make many people angry at our new gaming lounge in town, lol.
