Sideboard

Maybeboard

This deck utilizes new ramp combo that Dominaria brought us: Sylvan Awakening + Harvest Season. Finishers in this deck are Sylvan Awakening and Nissa lands. This is the deck you have been looking for, if you have dreamed of a standard deck that can reliably get 10+ lands almost every game!

Synergies

Ramping

  • We run 4 copies of Llanowar Elves and Servant of the Conduit to get the ramp going straight away. These guys can also be your meat-shield against aggro.
  • Grow from the Ashes, Beneath the Sands and Spring work as our land fetchers, and they are essential to reach the crucial 6 mana.
  • Once we get access to 6 mana via lands and/or mana dorks, we can double our manabase by ramping 6 lands in one turn. First we cast Sylvan Awakening and then Harvest Season. If you get these cards after you have 6 mana, say you have already 8 mana, then we ramp 8 lands which is even better.

Drawing and mana sinks

  • Tatyova, Benthic Druid is so awesome in this deck. It has to happen only once, when she is on the board and we pull our 6+ land ramp. In addition to actually ramping 6 lands, we get to draw 6 cards and gain 6 life! If this combo resolves, the game should be almost over already.
  • Wildest Dreams and Pull from Tomorrow are nice cards that let you use all the mana you want and refill your hand. I especially like Wildest Dreams as it allows us to essentially draw Sylvan Awakening to finish the game, when the card was earlier used for ramping.
  • Spring let's us draw 2 cards with 6 mana, doesn't take space in your hand and let us ramp earlier in the game. Just great.

Planeswalkers

  • Nissa, Steward of Elements is a great walker because she works in every part of the game: we can cast her on turn 2 and start scrying and getting extra lands on the board with the 0-ability. Later on, we can cast her straight with 7+ loyalties and swing with the flying lands on the same turn.
  • Nissa, Vital Force can pummel our opponent with lands which this deck is all about, or fetch some permanents from our yard which is nice too. Even nicer is her ultimate, which is basically undying Tatyova, Benthic Druid. Pretty relevant.
  • Last but definitely not the least we have our underdog and so forgotten Gideon, Martial Paragon. His +2 is why we run him in this deck: when we have cast Sylvan Awakening, we can untap all our lands, which are also currently creatures! This can lead to very explosive turns. For example, if we have 6 lands and Gideon on the board, we can kick Grow from the Ashes, then play Sylvan Awakening, then use Gideon's +2, and attack with 8 lands that are 3/3. This results in 24 damage. To sum up, buffing our creatures and untapping them after using them for casting makes this deck a perfect home for our Gideon.

Currently the downsides of this deck are lack of removal and combo pieces not ending up in the hand early enough. I'm considering replacing all 2-drop creatures and maybe even some 3-drop ramp spells with counterspells, removal and draw/scry cards.

If you have any thoughts and ideas concerning main- or sideboard, don't hesitate to say them! Also, go ahead and leave a like if you like the deck.
