Conifer Strider

Creature — Elemental

Hexproof (This creature can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.)

StupidDroid on Can a creature with hexproof …

Hexproof can only apply to permanents and players. If your opponent plays something like a Conifer Strider , it can still be the target of spells or abilities before it resolves. Therefore, hexproof doesn't affect Perplexing Chimera .

As a side note, hexproof only says "This permanent can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control." (Rule 702.11b). Since Perplexing Chimera 's ability doesn't target, it could get around hexproof even if hexproof applied on the stack.

TL;DR: Perplexing Chimera can be used to take control of a spell with hexproof.

Awesome start. Here's some of my picks for that general theme:

Leatherback Baloth, Rancor, Alpha Authority, Archetype of Endurance, Carnage Tyrant, Conifer Strider, Mwonvuli Beast Tracker, Plated Crusher, Silhana Ledgewalker

and (sounding trumpets)....

Centaur Omenreader is Ghalta's secret love.

Some equipment:

Loxodon Warhammer, sword of fill-in-the-blank (some are pricey), Hammer of Nazahn <--- winner winner chicken dinner, Grafted Wargear, Shuko, Helm of Kaldra, Helm of the Host <--- My new fave equipment.

This deck looks like it's going to be fun to build. Let me know what kind of budget you're on, and I'll make a few more specific suggestions. If you're willing to throw $20 or $40 at this, you can probably make it very aggressive.

Picked this one up again. Added +1 Conifer Strider as a big beater win-con. (Went down a Llanowar Augur.)

Might do more hexproof, hitting lots of burn for some reason.

Did you know there isn't a single EDH deck with him in the lead on tapped out? He's oddly popular in tiny leaders though.

Perhaps mono green hexproof? Like instead of Voltron you play a bunch of hex-proofers like Conifer Strider and mass pump like Overwhelming Stampede and maybe stuff that makes it hard to block your stuff like Akroma's Memorial.

So bad tokens. But you blank all the removal!

If you wanna actually build something good, voltron is basically the best option. Don't forget the Loxodon Warhammer

4x Eyeless Watcher, 4x Beastcaller Savant = nearly guaranteed turn 4 Voldaren Pariah  Flip w/ flip, if necessary.

In Soviet Russia, Hammer Swings You is the deck I've been mostly working with. I don't know if it's straight up superior, inferior, or whatever, but it's easy to acquire and might give you some ideas. ;) I can let you know how I play it and all the little details if you're interested.

'Savants really help with the manabase for spreading into different emergers, and gives you a solid wincon to sb against Brisela Control: Altered Ego. For the sideboard, I think it would also be safe to suggest Rogue's Passage and some combination of Sphinx of the Final Word, Plated Crusher, and Conifer Strider to guarantee an unblockable and relatively fast kill once you reach that much mana.

Of course, you have also given me some ideas as well. I'll see what I can do with them. Good luck brewing!

If you need a sideboard option against control (Probably the weakest point of Awaken) I would suggest Sphinx of the Final Word and/or Conifer Strider, or perhaps even Plated Crusher, and 4x Rogue's Passage. If you can reach the mana to play them, they're very hard to get rid of and can be guaranteed to four-shot or less.

Against Red Deck Wins (Burn & Thunderbreak Regent/Embermaw Hellion, I actually found that Cryptolith Fragment  Flip refreshingly corrected and accelerated my mana, evened out damage, and eventually won each game I drew it in by the drain or the flip. Both hit very hard, and can end games in your favor if an opponent gets close to finishing you off.

Neat deck. ;) I don't know how it'd perform, but in any case I haven't seen anyone doing awaken in a while. Good luck!

In Soviet Russia, Hammer Swings You is the emerge build I've been working on. I think I've got it pretty much finalized, and it seems to work with brutal efficiency on an even lower budget. I have not actually been able to test it in paper, though; I can let you know if and when that happens.

I'm not sure what to suggest here because I can be nearly certain I have the best possible emerge-centric deck (in my own opinion, at least), but feel free to take what you want from it and suggest anything to me. I'd like to see what you think about it, BirdmanWhy.

I'm tempted to try the Void Winnower strategy you're touching on... Perhaps I can find a way to work with it. I probably need to make room for the sideboard Mockery of Nature you have. Thank you, AngelicCookies, for reminding me of Sphinx of the Final Word. My sideboard against control was Conifer Strider + Rogue's Passage, but Spell Queller could be a problem so I switched mostly to Plated Crusher. My friend reacted to that with Infinite Obliteration, so having yet another creature to dodge along with greatly increases my chances of winning. If I lose game 1, I switch to Plated Crusher and Conifer Strider if the deck isn't white, and game three I switch to Sphinx of the Final Word. Your mentioning of something that could come back from the grave reminded me of Marang River Prowler, which is an excellent idea for many purposes.

I think it's doable, I'm currently working on a Bant Bogles with Ancient of the Equinox  Flip as the main target, because Icefall Regent and Dragonlord Ojutai are expensive, Conifer Strider does not have a nice booty, and Insidious Mist  Flip can be killed by Flaying Tendrils and Languish, plus the treefolk can be brought back by Starfield of Nyx.

The problem is achieving delirium in three colors that don't exactly support delerium that well.
