Mockery of Nature

Creature — Eldrazi Beast

Emerge (You may cast this spell by sacrificing a creature and paying the emerge cost reduced by that creature's converted mana cost.)

When you cast Mockery of Nature, you may destroy target artifact or enchantment.

Have you considered adding more Eldrazi creatures with the Emerge ability? That can give you more sacrifice engines. This would include, but not be limited to, Abundant Maw and Mockery of Nature. I hope this helps. Happy Hunting!

Mystic Reflection

This card seems pretty wild, being kind of a preemptive (and non-Disenchantable) Metamorphic Alteration. If you foretell it on one turn, it only takes one measly mana to use it in response to something on another turn. What kind of tricks can you think of using it for?

  • Grave Peril-esque pseudo-removal, turning an incoming commander (including Lord Windgrace) into a random 1/1 token. (Like being elk'd, you could cure this with flickering.)

  • Force someone to copy an unpleasant creature, like Steel Golem. Sadly, no Phage the Untouchables tho

  • Most obviously, use spells/abilities that bring in a lot of creatures in one go so that they all enter as a copy of something strong. One awkward thing here though is that an opponent could ursurp the reflection by getting in something of their own at instant speed. -inclusive commanders I can think of that qualify are Oona, Queen of the Fae and Nevinyrral, Urborg Tyrant, plus Tana, the Bloodsower & Nadier, Agent of the Duskenel with an appropriate partner. (Note that e.g. The Locust God is AFAIK underwhelming here since its triggers are separate; you'll only get a copy out of the first token.)

  • Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer could use it as an inexpensive (if somewhat risky) way of getting a token copy of something that his other tokens can then copy in turn.

  • Kind of narrow, but you could get extra value by having creatures with on-cast triggers like Mockery of Nature come in as a copy of something with an ETB trigger, getting you both triggers at the end of the day. (You could also do something like having a creature cast from your hand come into as a copy of a Dread Cacodemon to qualify for its ETB, but you could do the same with any creature card Clone variant.)

Cards with emerge: Abundant Maw, Decimator of the Provinces, Distended Mindbender, Drownyard Behemoth, Elder Deep-Fiend, It of the Horrid Swarm, Lashweed Lurker, Mockery of Nature, Vexing Scuttler, and the best, Wretched Gryff.

Cards to go with emerge: Foul Emissary (expensive but useful for creating blockers), Desperate Sentry (same issues but can be big and also gives a creature when it dies), and all travelers/creatures that create value by dying (Voice of Resurgence anyone?).

Gotcha. When you said "from bulk" I thought maybe that meant cards you had laying around haha

Having 0 interaction or protection outside of creatures, you should def put in that Prowling Serpopard and Spellbreaker Behemoth . Soul of New Phyrexia protects all your creatures from a board wipe. Ruric Thar, the Unbowed punishes control players. Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip is a fantastic mana sink (as is Genesis Hydra ). Treasure Keeper and Woodland Bellower could be interesting? And Conduit of Ruin makes everything cheaper while tutoring for Decimator of the Provinces , Mockery of Nature , Nullstone Gargoyle , etc. Spearbreaker Behemoth and Stonehoof Chieftain also give some protection.

Boza, You're completely right. The more I look for actual demon cards for this build, the more i'm realizing there aren't any. I suppose I was imagining the "feel"/play style of a demon deck without thinking about the specifics and logistical issues. That being said, any thoughts on the previously mentioned combo, but focusing on eldrazi like Abundant Maw, Distended Mindbender, It of the Horrid Swarm, Mockery of Nature, and Decimator of the Provinces? If you Emerged using something like Brood Monitor then sac'ing its 3 scions for extra mana while grave pact is out, you could potentially drop one those eldrazi for "free", kill 3 creatures on entry, plus get their enter the battlefield effect. Decimator of the Provinces could also turn the otherwise "meh" scion producers and even scions into a solid push.

I really recomend tutors to fetch your summoning/myr, as you really need both to win. Shred Memory is a simple option. Grinding Station might not be as mana efficient as altar, but milling cards from the top of your library lets you drop a myr into your yard. Hoarding Dragon is a 3 drop tutor with a passable body. Indomitable Creativity/Molten Psyche etc let you try and reshuffle dead combo pieces to pick up more myr.

Sequestered Stash doesn't ruin your manabase and lets you look for more artifacts.

Red black is probably the least played colours for this kind of artifact combo because of the lack of tools to remove Rest in Peace or Leyline of the Void, which are in a lot of sideboards, so keep an eye on your meta. You don't want your best anti-enchant plan to be Mockery of Nature- if you can get a playset of Engineered Explosives and jam them maindeck to deal with those 2-drop 'no more graveyard' cards, do it. Steel Hellkite can do a passable impression, but at that point you might as well just jam Wurmcoil Engine.

Emerge is a pretty fun mechanic to play around with, and the synergies with undying is an interesting angle.

I'd add a playset of Ancient Stirrings as a powerful 1-drop that can grab your emerge creatures off the top or find a land you need.

You need to add some more early drops so you can be doing something for the first few turns. Young Wolf and Strangleroot Geist are powerful early drops with undying, so you can either block for a couple turns or pressure aggro, and synergise with emerge later on.

You could also add a couple evoke creatures so you can cheaply emerge an Elder Deep-Fiend. Mulldrifter seems like the best option, since it also provides card advantage alongside a hefty converted mana cost. By evoking it and flashing in the Deep-Fiend, you can cast it for only five mana.

For cuts, I would drop your more expensive undying creatures and chaff, so cut Frost Lynx, Primal Huntbeast, Relentless Skaabs, Wall of Frost, and the Woodland Patrol. I would also cut Mockery of Nature since artifact/enchantment destruction is more sideboard material.
