Updates Add

Everyone loves the Ooze! Right? — June 18, 2020

So, the full spoiler of M21 is here, and I have updated the list with new exciting additions of the new set! Here we go:

Scavenging Ooze: This card is super exciting for jund. Is cheap, powerful, and also serves as graveyard hate. So, everyone knows that this is an auto-include in this deck, and because of that I won't tell you about why to add it, but instead of what I changed in the deck to accomodate the Ooze. The Ikoria version played a full playset of Kroxa, since it was one of our best threats, and the manabase was very focused on being able to cast Kroxa with escape without any problem. The issue is that the Ooze is a card that needs an important number of green mana to work, so, I changed the manabase to support less Kroxa and more the ooze, and I cut 2 Kroxas from the decklist. Another point is that I added 3 Oozes instead of 4. I think that 3 is the right number, and the last time that Ooze was in standard, the decks that played it normaly played 3 copies instead of 3. But is probably that I add the 4th copy.
Radha, Heart of Keld: This card reminds a lot an old good card for midrange decks: Courser of Kruphix. The function of that card was to minimize the flooding, because instead of draw the lands you played them. Radha is better, because i don't gain the life that the courser gained, but with Radha you don't give any information to the opponent. I think that this card is a really big upgrade to the deck.
Eliminate and Grasp of Darkness: These are 2 great removal cards that let us drop the Heartless Act and Scorching Dragonfire, that didn't work with Chevill, but they were the best removals of the format. So, pretty happy with these.
Liliana, Waker of the Dead: Now, this is the most similar card that we have to the ol' Liliana of the Veil. Is a good card, and the other similar card that we have in this deck is Vraska. The upside of Liliana is that we make our opponent to discard a card, and that is great in some matchups where our opponent relies on card advantage. In the other side the second ability of vraska can kill a nonland permanent, and Lily only can desproy creatures, and vraska only can destroy them is they have a cmc of 3 or less, but Liliana needs the graveyard to kill creatures. The two cards have upsides and downsides, and actually for this version I will run 2 Vraskas and 1 Lily. But the real good news on this new Liliana is that we have a card to substitute Vraska when she rotates.

Sideboard:

Necromentia: One more time, we get and upgrade of this effect. This is clearly better than Unmoored Ego, because it doesn't require blue mana, and if we exile a card of our opponents' hand, they don't draw, but instead they get a 2/2. I think this will see play in almost every black deck (or at least in an important number of them)
Kaervek, the Spiteful: This card is great. First of all is a clear upgrade to Night of Souls' Betrayal, in the same way that Plague Engineer was a great upgrade to Engineered Plague. This is clearly good against mono R, since it kills all the 1-drops, the dwarf knight, and the tokens of Anax, also making the other creatures weaker. Another spicy interaction is with the cat-oven combo, because when it enters the battlefield, the cat simply dies, so Kaerverk is a spicy way to shut down the combo.
Massacre Wurm: If they have a huge board with creatures with thoughness 2 or less, this not only saves us from dying, but it can kill the opponent, or at least make him lose some bug chunks of life. The dilemma is: Wich is better, Massacre Wurm or Massacre Girl? Or a combination of the two Massacres? This question won't remain a lot of time, since the girl will rotate with Zendikar, but the two have their own upsides and downsides. I don't know the answer to the question, but I wantd to try the wurm. If the wurm is too slow I will return to the gril.

Other Changes:

The manabase plays one land more, becaue now the deck is more mana-hungry, with both the Ooze and Kroxa, but also because with Radha we won't be very afraid of flooding.
No more Bonecrusher Giant: Now we have best removal, and a shock for 2 mana isn't too exciting, and the creature doesn't fit really well in the mana curve of the deck.
Soul-Guide Lantern over Grafdigger's Cage: The two are great graveyard hate, but I prefer lantern now because is more flexible against some decks, and prevent us to dying to Zenith Flare. I say that is more flexible because if we play it against sultai to exile the Uro, and then there isn't anything more to exile, we can use it to draw a card.
Wilt over Brontodon: They remprinted the brontodon one more time... At some point I think that they want it to be an evergreen card, like Duress. This decision was easy: Wilt is cheaper, is at instant speed (you can consider brontodon also at instant speed, but you have to play it first as a creature, and the opponent will expect the effect, there is no surprise), and you can cycle it. Is clearly a better option.
