Missing my favorite Monk Cards. Have you considered any of these creature? Monastery Mentor, Monastery Swiftspear, Myth Realized , Mantis Rider, and Seeker of the Way(it dont say monk but come on look at the picture. Also a sweet card.)

Also since your going heavy on burn Soulfire Grand Master Could be fun in the side

ZorrosRage I did consider those cards, but in the end opted them out, sweet ass cards as they may be ;)

As for Soulfire Grand Master, i do want that in my deck, but i dont have the capital right now, and i know of only 1 at the moment. Jeskai Student is there to block minor creatures, and Jeskai Elder for a cheap creature/easy draw.

Soulfire could replace a Student/Elder or minor sorcery/instant card with ease, but as said, i dont have them atm. Good call though!

If you have more feedback i would like to hear it :D

Also, i will update this with news of Wins/Equal/losses and so forth later on :)

i think Seeker is just strictly better than Jeskai Student why choose to opt out?

is not including Monastery Mentor a budget call? $11 card can be tough but he is a game changer if unchecked especially with tokens getting prowess too.

ZorrosRage I think i should add in my explanation/reasoning that i have choosen those cards based on the "meta" my friends play quite often. it's either 2/2 creatures or 4+/4+ creatures. Student can block the lesser ones with no problem, while Seeker can't without ending in my graveyard. I do still consider changing this up. As for mentor, i think i will add him in my sideboard, so if i want i can change into a semi-token deck. It is a sweet ass card after all :)

agree Monastery Mentor is sweet in a caster build. Just tokens having prowess can be crazy. Him not having to attack and make them is great too kind of surprised sometimes he don't see much play outside of commander.

How often do you get the draw part of Jeskai Elder? He just doesn't seem worth the slot to me.

ZorrosRage You might have point there, i will greatly consider removiing him to open the slot to another one, perhaps Mentor or Seeker.

ZorrosRage How about changing to either :Nimble-Blade Khenra or Firebrand Archer or perhaps Kari Zev, Skyship Raider

as for Jeskai Student isn't Elusive Spellfist just better in a different color?

Possible Enlightened Ascetic for flavor in side if you see a lot of enchentments.

I really like Stratus Dancer in something like this too. its not really expected. Maybe in side vs slower decks. It's a good monk control card

Jeskai Infiltrator Just looks fun

I was just trying to keep a monk theme thought that is what you were doing

ZorrosRage Well yes and no, kinda became that since i love that set, but realy it doesn't have to be. I made a little change, does it look more symetric now? :)

i think the Firebrand Archer is too slow or don't do enough. If we are not worried about monk. I will highly suggest Dragonlord Ojutai as a 1-2 of as your finisher. Narset, Enlightened Master requirement to attack makes her really weak to removal, and bad with control cards.

Seeker in the Firebrand Archer is just a better choice with the life link. ALso still keep the monk theme for fun :-D

Electrolyze, and Negate are jeskai staples

I like Think Twice over Divination

4Lightning Bolt and 4Path to Exileif you can get it. Roast is a good budget burn card. Mana Leak good budget control card.

I also dont see any board wipe. You are building control and so much swarm is out there. Need a few Wrath of God type effect in the main

Goblin Dark-Dwellers and Pull from Tomorrow are both also good cards.

Also Wall of Omens is good for blockers if not worried about monk

Hi keyz,

Are you building this deck to a particular budget? If not, then you definitely have some sub optimal choices. Shock should be Lightning Bolt, Divination should be Serum Visions or Opt and Deflecting Palm is normally more of a sideboard card, given you have access to Azorius Charm, Izzet Charm, Boros Charm and Jeskai Charm. I'd probably swap Incendiary Flow for Pyroclasm and Cryptic Serpent for Bedlam Reveler too. Another thought is that if you ran Soul-Scar Mage then maybe Tezzeret's Gambit would be an interesting draw spell.

I hope this is of help, have fun brewing your deck.

A budget jeskai you can always go with Delver of Secrets  Flip, Grim Lavamancer and Young Pyromancer as creature options. Spell Pierce is also a great low curve card.

Almost forgot to suggest Lightning Helix, and Boros Charm those are also great low cost cards.

good side suggestions Anger of the Gods Izzet Staticaster Blessed Alliance

Hi again guys, thanks for quick feedback, atm i do build on a budget, many cards are placeholders, such as 2drop burn and declaration in stone(i want bolt and path there later)

same goes for many of your spell ideas(spell for me is=non land/chreature)

Mostly this is more of a template for what kind of cards i want in wich slot so to speak :)

I will add most of the cards you have suggestes later

Some other good control suggestions almost forgot. Logic Knot, Ojutai's Command(pretty good as a 1-2 of),

Thing in the Ice  Flip is awesome an awesome creature to block with since that is a concern. one of the best low drop budget control creature

Detention Sphere are also good if you don't want to go the burn route.

Another question

Are you looking to build around Narset, Enlightened Master? If so a burn heavy route is better than counter one. I like other finishers, but what is your end goal? Also 2 colors might be better budget wise so you can get a easier land base until you get the expensive ones. Land is the first struggle on a 3 color deck.

I didnt think of thing in the ice to be honest, great card :)

May 24, 2018 11:51 a.m.

ZorrosRage says... #18

The first think i would look at is land. The land base will cripple or help you. Can go 2 or 3 color but 2 is better on a budget.

Thing in the Ice  Flip is one of my favorite control finishers. It's so low to the ground then just destroys your opponent. My favorite ones to use generally are Thing in the Ice  Flip, Myth Realized, Gideon Jura, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Dragonlord Ojutai, Geist of Saint Traft, and AEtherling(AEtherling only if on super budget)

ZorrosRage I think il definatly go for a Thing on Ice, as for the other suggestions, they are good but i think you guys are a bit on the control heavu, i want abit more aggro than the usuall controll :)

ZorrosRage says... #20

How agro are you trying to be? Some control or strait agro like this? Sorry couldn't link deck it is giving me issues. not sure how to do brackets for whole deck link

16 LANDS 4 Bloodstained Mire 1 Island 1 Mountain 4 Polluted Delta 4 Spirebluff Canal 2 Steam Vents

28 INSTANTS and SORC. 4 Distortion Strike 4 Forked Bolt 4 Gut Shot 4 Lava Spike 4 Lightning Bolt 4 Serum Visions 4 Slip Through Space

actually i try to get a bit in between, so that i can start with a little aggro, switch to a little control, then finnish hard with Narsets free cardplay kinda.

Dont know if it will work out, its a trial and error kind of thing. Trying to create an original i guess. Otherwise i play the burn deck i have listed and a control deck with enigma dragon that i havnt listed yet same goes for my B/U discard hand deck :)

May 24, 2018 3:46 p.m.

ZorrosRage says... #22

Makes sense. Its tough to get a middle ground. One of my favorite decks i think that hits both is Martyr Proc. Can build it agro and control.

I hope some of the suggestions we did help you. Please take a look at my decks and tell me what you think.
