New Top Lists Update!

Basuldur, 13 years ago

Thanks everyone for boosting this to the top list on Tappedout!

Originally I had created this, tried it on Cockatrice, gotten stomped and threw it away. Now that I see all the love it has gotten, I will put more effort into it. As of now I've added in and removed quite a lot. Here's what I did.

1) Decided that I should stop kidding myself and build a B/W tokens deck that splashes red. With this in min Gut Shot left. I think that with more definite forms of control(aka Doomblade) I can do a bit more, plus I should out-race regular U/W humans. The Inkmoth Nexuses of Wolf Run could be a problem though.

2) I really, REALLY like Bloodline Keeper  Flip, so I'm going to play with him. Also, him + Sorin, Lord of Innistrad = sex.

3) I'm thinking Wurmcoil Engine/Grave Titan in here somewhere. I'm going to try this deck out tomorrow and see if I need a more definite win con.

Give me more suggestions and +1s :D I really appreciate it. Sideboard help is always nice, and U/W humans are running rampant...

Added a Sideboard and made a few changes to the deck, Help is always appreciated.

Moved the Sword of Feast and Famine to the Sideboard giving room for 2 Phyrexian Obliterator Mainboard. They may not be Zombies but I needed a 4 mana drop bomb to give it the aggro feel it needs.

Flashfreeze feature for U/B Zombies Aggro

I've switched spelljack to a draining whelk! Draining Whelk became Mana Drain. Overwhelming forces became a disk. We'll see how this works, but this is a change I'm optimistic about. I have far better ways to get access to a disk. Jin is under-performing for his cost. dropped an island for maze of ith. Maybe OStone instead of disk? The CIPT nature of disk just killed me AGAIN.

Name Change

KorApprentice, 13 years ago

I found a name that I like for the deck, but mostly this update is to get a new page of comments. Anyway, I made some minor changes to the build, the main change being the removal of some of the ramp. I have play tested this deck hundreds of times, and the ramp that I had originally works more than well enough to make the added ramp unnecessary. This made room for some of the new cards coming out, so I'm rather content with the changes. Comments are greatly appreciated, feel free to throw out any suggestions you may have!

Did a complete overhaul to the deck adding many new cards from DA bringing the deck back to the power level it was at before Innistrad Block.

mana fixing

ikotz94, 13 years ago

hopefully the mana-fixing gets better in the next few sets but it's still a quite consistent deck with major threats that all provide card advantage. the goal is pretty much to drown your opponent in card advantage using cards like huntmaster, strangleroot geist, and of course primal hunter at the top end of things. If the messenger had less restrictive cmc because it would easily become the go to utility card in the set like kitchen finks. so even though the mana needs fixing, once a threat gets dropped it needs to be answered almost immediatly or the opponent most likely will not be able to deal with it

i have also noticed that getting things like double green and double black is quite difficult even with evolving wilds now in the format

Second FNM

Ajpalda, 13 years ago

Took 1st place undefeated. First match vs BR with splash W. Both games played out the same, locking creatures down with Skinrenders and Tributes while swinging with my own. Second Match vs GW. Titan Forges got o-ringed or naturalized both games, but Geth and Twins came through. Third Match vs Grixis Control. I was lucky enough to draw Liliana by turn 3 both games and get her on the board while mana leaking his Liliana. First game won via Titans and counters, Second game won via Jace/Drownyard Milling, which he largely helped with due to tons of draw spells.

The basic idea here is to swarm with boosted tokens and spirits. Splashed in blue for the obvious Drogskol Captain, Geist of Saint Traft, Moorland Haunt and then control and draw ability. Added Call to the Kindred to fetch the Drogskol Reaver's, Drogskol Captain's and Geist of Saint Traft's. The 2 Isolated Chapel's are for the Lingering Souls flash back. Not necessary required, but helps and in my opinion just a better play than just adding Midnight Haunting. The instant speed of Midnight Haunting is nice, but that's what Moorland Haunt is for.

Adding Money

Jace, the Mind Sculptor

Force of Will

Invoke Prejudice

In: Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Force of Will, Invoke Prejudice, Riptide Laboratory, Graceful Adept

Out: Terrain Generator, Magus of the Future, Breaking Wave, Everflowing Chalice, Sage of Fables

erstes Update

Folgende Karten konnten in der Praxis nie Ueberzeugen: Citanul Flute, Explore, Journeyer's Kite, Seed the Land, Defense of the Heart.

Folgende Karten haben es jetzt ins Deck geschafft: Dosan the Falling Leaf, Horn of Greed, Recycle, Nim Deathmantle.

Diamond Valley, Miren, the Moaning Well, Sapseep Forest und Avenger of Zendikar suchen noch ihren Platz.

also, its like anti-spot removal. nearly everything as either undying, is indestructible, or has hexproof. need suggestions on how to deal with mirran crusader. maybe add white for o-ring or blue for counter/control?

Drkchaos, 13 years ago

Got another Snapcaster! Threw in a Frost Titan as an alternate win condition, and switched out the daggers for runechanters and a cleaver. Also, switched out negates with psychic barrier, as it seems more effective in the current meta of fast low cost monsters. Basically, Vapor Snags and Aether Adepts to continously bounce until stalker with equipment or Frost Titan shows up to come in for the kill. Also added in a sideboard!

Also, I'm currently working on a sideboard and considering using Steel Hellkites for added protection but still not certain.

FNM

djgunn, 13 years ago

Had the opportunity to bring this to FNM this week. Actually performed pretty well, when I wasn't making silly misplays. I unfortunately didn't get to stay for the entire tournament because of work -- 5 rounds, and I only got to play in 3.

First match was vs a Blue/Black Surgical Extraction/Memoricide deck. Which, I've built before, so I understand how it works. Went 2-1. He won our first game, and I came back and won the second two. I never sideboarded anything in (mostly because my opponent -- a guy I regularly play with at our local shop -- wasn't sideboarding either, and FNM is mostly for fun). For reference, Attack the mind, then the heart was my stab at the combo, and I went esper spread with it. So it's functioned a little bit differently. Might give it a go again, now that I saw it operate in just blue/black. Unfortunately, the deck is so dependent on that combo, it never fires on all cylinders.

Second match was against my roommate, irgsaber, and we've both been playing the decks that we brought to FNM against each other for the past two weeks. He was playing a Blue/White Humans/Spirits Aggro deck. I expected to lose, because I helped refine his deck to the point where it was consistently beating mine. Once again, I won 2-1. Same scenario, he won the first game, and I came back and won the second two after sideboarding in 3 Day of Judgments against his aggro.

Third match was against another regular opponent of mine. This week, he decided to bring a Blue/Black Control deck. Our first game was fun. I flashed out a Snapcaster Mage EOT turn 2 when he passed turn, and ended up hitting him for 10 damage with the little sucker before he could successfully take care of it. Then, I unfortunately ended up sitting at 5 land for quite a few turns, and couldn't play any of my bombs, while he was dropping Grave Titans to the field. Game 2, I ended up being able to pop Venser, the Sojournerfoil's ultimate, because my opponent thought that it just gave me an emblem that made my creatures unblockable. Ouch. Into game 3, I was fairly rushed, because I was running out of time and I was making misplays all over the place. I ended up conceding the game to him, because I had to leave and get myself to work.

TL;DR

Deck performed rather well, out of the 3 matches I played, I went 2-1. Wish I would have had more time and been able to play the entire night out.
