Monday night Standard 3-1

Went to a crowded store that pays out horribly, but i wanted to get more games in with the deck.
First match-up against mono-black.
My opponent went on the Pack Rat plan. Plan foiled by Palukranos on the first game Second game he tried again, and had the removal to support it. Went to a third game and my deck simply manhandled his, he was a turn away from a Gray Merchant of Asphodel which may have helped him stabilize, but i landed a Garruk, Caller of the Beasts and it stuck 2 turns, so that was it...
1-0
Second game was against Rakdos Aggro. First game he got me down to 2, but landing a pair of Courser of Kruphix i was able to crawl my back up to 10 life to stabilize, build my board and win. Second game after some careful play with Simic Charm i was soon the aggressor.
2-0
Blown out by Gruul mid-range. First game wasn't a game, i mulled to 5, didn't draw very well, so i just hung on for as long as i could for him to reveal more cards. Second game he blew me out with a great hand full of Planeswalkers and topped it off with an overloaded Mizzium Mortars. He was kind enough to run a third friendly game so i could better see the matchup. i won that one, and i the decks really are on similar planes. So it sort of depends on who monstrous's their Palukranos, or overloads their sweep first. But if none of those factors hit, then my deck is superior by far in the deep water.
2-1
Last match against Rakdos Burn. Really good tempo play, but his deck main-board had no answer in a single card for my larger threats. First game i was able to control the board, eventually land a Garruk, stick a Nylea, God of the Hunt, which likely would have won the game with trample over his army of 1/1 elemental tokens, but i scryed a Cyclonic Rift which i knew would be a guaranteed win next turn. Second game he drew all the right cards and nickel and dimed me to death. Kudos for the final point of damage coming from Deathrite Shaman, thought i'd seen the last of him after his modern banning... Final game came down to variance. He had numbers and more cards, i was top-decking and in need of help. Peeled a Garruk that stuck for 2 turns, and he started drawing lands... That was it.
3-1
Glad to get the games in, led to me deciding to move Boon Satyr to the main. There were just 2 cards i had a hard time filling the slot. Sylvan Caryatid game me protected guaranteed ramp, but sometimes left me hollow in the mid-game with less threats. Burning-Tree Emissary provided explosive draws and good devotion, but really isn't as good synergy wise. Considering card in the 4 drop slot or over puts me in danger of stumbling out of the gate with a higher curve. So Boon Satyr fits well, giving me option to play it early and i certainly have the mana to bestow for a nice combat trick later...
So far i don't have a bad match-up, but i would like to test against control more...

Changing the deck to Orzhov
meulaven, 11 years ago
After the way this deck performed I have decided to drop red. I have never had luck with 3 color decks so I am going to go back to one I have done well with before.
PubertyPanda, 11 years ago
Added Nighthowler and Agent of the Fates, and put Undercity Plague in the sideboard… Undercity plague might be a bit top heavy but I'll see from testing.

Other tweaks
RamziJuve, 11 years ago
The list is decked out with Zombies and Wizards now. Still trying to acquire some stuff. The sideboard is the stuff I'm definitely getting eventually.
Tutor, Altar

Replaced Disciple of Griselbrand with Carnage Altar and replaced Opal Palace with Plea for Guidance.
Major Changes
Magiclover318, 11 years ago
Thanks to ChiefBell I have drastically changed this deck and it is looking so much better.
My 2 drops look high but really it is at 12 2 cmc drops because Gatekeeper of Malakir is a t3 play.
My 3 drops are only at 12 with the Gatekeeper which I think is perfect

Modern Ready
Andavo, 11 years ago
Changed the whole flow of this deck from all buffing creatures to a little more versatility. (Pure buffs don't work so well.
Pauper
notan88, 11 years ago
Decided to do a modern pauper deck instead of the slower Livewire Lash deck I had before.

the Ancient Amphitheater was a place holder. Im averse to buying cards before I know they can be useful. I borrowed 4 from a friend for a week. Now that I know this deck has a chance to werk ok i'll git some Garrisons/guildgates. I already have found a few.
Encroaching Wastes
pthomas625, 11 years ago
If anyone's questioning Encroaching Wastes, I highly recommend it. I played 4 rounds last night at a competitive event, and I think I used the wastes a total of 8-10 times; a third of those kept them from playing cards (or cleaned up Underworld Connections).
Revamp
tundra_led1, 11 years ago
Completely revamped the deck based on what I have. I like this iteration better anyways. Any help with playtesting or making better is appreciated.
testing phase 1
The_Smurf_Be, 11 years ago
step 1 : use the elves for mana step 2 : green sun's zenith = search for arch druid step 3 : play genesis wave to increase mana pool and some elves step 4 : elixir of imortality and emrakul keeps the library full :) step 5 : play genesis wave for a lot of mana ^^ so those dirty eldrazi's kan ruin the opponents day :) step 6 : i'm currenly building this deck :) probably testing it this weekend !!!

Basically Dropped 2 AEtherlings, 1 doom blade, 2 dark betrayal, 1 jace, memory adept, and 2 sphere of safety. added 1 more ashiok, nightmare weaver, 3 underworld connections, 1 jace, architect of thought (managed to get one) and changed the land base. and changed the sideboard to help out against all types of decks.

What do you guys think? How else could I improve this deck? Or maybe I swaped something that I didn't needed to? I'm open to suggestion's :))

so Hero of Iroas is awkward. I don't really think he speeds the deck up. sure, he makes auras cost less, but he takes the spot of an aggressive two drop. I put Spirit of the Labyrinth back in. The risk does seem small, and if I sorely need the card, ill play Chosen by Heliod before I play the spirit. I also took out Hopeful Eidolon. its a four costing aura that I would rather have Gift of Orzhova for the same effect. I don't really like lifegain so I think both is unnecessary.

Sneaky_Chicken, 11 years ago
Thanks to Schmukey's suggestions, I've added in Whip of Erebos, Commune with the Gods, Elvish Mystic, Drown in Filth, and pulled all of my unnecessary creatures. Now I just have to get Drown in Filth, Whip of Erebos, and Commune with the Gods in real life!
Ryuu7i, 11 years ago
Added in 3x Leafcrown Dryad and put 3x Hopeful Eidolon in the sideboard
