More mana elves?
Kornjunky, 11 years ago
I'm thinking about taking out some cards for Quirion Elves, Fyndhorn Elder/ Greenweaver Druid, and Fyndhorn Elves or any combination of them. Comments?
Possible cards

With what has been spoiled so far from the new set I am thinking about putting in Launch the Fleet, Godsend, and Ajani, Mentor of Heroes into this deck. What cards would you suggest I replace them with?
And even MOAR EDITS
8BitNecromancer, 11 years ago
Revamped the entire deck with more of a focus on Obzedat's Aid which has turned out to be pretty powerful in the deck, with turn 4 Elspeth, Sun's Champion or armada warm being a very real, very dangerous threat. I'll also be clearing out the comments with this and my past updates just to de-clusterfuck the entire page. Please provide feedback and up vote.
Change of Gods

I'm going to take out Karametra, God of Harvests *f-etch* and replace it with Heliod, God of the Sun. Heliod is a way better option as a mid-game threat because of his passive abilities.
I am removing Elspeth, Sun's Champion and 1x Indestructibility for 2x Celestial Flare in my sideboard to eliminate protection from white threats.

Plot Twist!
Spootyone, 11 years ago
I've changed my mind after seeing Pheres-Band Warchief We are now in Centaur town.
I'm currently deciding between running Experiment One or Elvish Mystic. I really like the smoothness that Elvish Mystic gives to my curve, but I understand how good EO is in an aggro deck like this. Thoughts?

Silverfist, 11 years ago
Faced a guantlet of red aggro for last weeks FNM. So decided to cut elvish mystic for centaur healer, hopefully will give me the extra turn to swing back into them. Also cut 1 fanatic of xenagos for a 2nd mainboard polukranos.

found it kinda hard to get the required mana still at my last tournament, so i took out 2 forests and 2 plains for 4 temples of plenty. also switched up some of the cards, i put in 2 voracious wurms and 2 divine favors and took out the 2 haunted plate mails and 2 soulbonds, they are nice if your opponent cant stop them since you can get super buffed monsters, but at the cost of 4 mana i normally either found better options to use my mana with or they would just destory the enchantment/monster before it got big enough to do anything.

So I decided to take out 2x Grisly Salvage for 2x Courser of Kruphix. After extensive play testing with Courser of Kruphix and the addition of Temple of Malady. Deck manipulation is at levels of awesome, allowing for higher consistency.
Journey Into Nyx additions!!!
Deck has 6 months left to live. :( Come rotation this deck looses 18 out of 20 creatures, and the majority of other spells in the deck as well.... ...a new Golgari deck will raise from it's corpse.

first EDH match-up!
canterlotguardian, 11 years ago
Went 1-1 in a commander pod tournament yesterday. It went as follows:
Game 1 vs pauper Krond the Dawn-Clad, Braids, Conjurer Adept group hug, and Sliver Overlord slivers: Won on turn 10 or so by combo'ing off with Grimgrin, Corpse-Born, Rooftop Storm, Gravecrawler, and Vengeful Dead to finish everyone off at the table.
Game 2 vs Kaalia of the Vast, Karador, Ghost Chieftain, and Sliver Queen *oversized* with surprisingly no slivers: Was the second one eliminated after the Kaalia player. The guy playing the Queen deck went on to win in a surprisingly close match-up.
No prize support awarded, but points were given towards the next week's event, which will end the month's point spread and then prizes will be awarded. Should be fun.

Minor board-tweak:

Dropped Ranger's Guile in favor of Apostle's Blessing.

Fixes: 1. Mizzium skins may be more worthwhile than dissolve to protect my attackers once spells are used to buff flamespeaker/nivix. 1.2. Dissolve requires 3 mana, which is too much at turn 3 or 4, and forces me to wait another turn to get my combo running. The 1 scry may not be worth the flamespeaker buff. 2. Nivix cyclops may be a dead draw mid-game, if the flamespeaker combo is utilised prior to it. However, flamespeaker will still be useful mid-game if Nivix combo is utilised before it due to constant scrys from Sigiled, Thassa, Aqueous and Stormcaller. 2.2. May reduce the number of Nivix's from 4 to 3 (possibly down to 2 or removed altogether, depending on playtesting). His only use is ensuring I have at least 1 combo card in my starting hand, and fizzles out afterward.

Journey into Nyx — THEROS 3/3
I know what I like, and I like what I see.
- Hypnotic Siren - Awesome 1-drop flyer with great end-game utility.
- Mana Confluence - Enters untapped and produces any color = sweet!
- Triton Shorestalker - Beast creature in the deck. 'Nuff said.

Deck Adjustments!

With some recent events and matches.. It seems as though Rakdos's Return was sided much more often then not. Typically where it was used, I would lose quite a bit of life or something else as a result of taking a full turn to cast it.
I remember using Rakdos's Return Tuesday to dump a R/W Burn's hand. He boros charmed me in response, and since Sylvan Caryatid and Elvish Mystic were tapped for mana he then followed up next turn with two mutvault attacks and a Lightning Strike off the top. Which hardly felt worth the use.
Since R/W Burn is a problem deck, I've decided to add a card that would really turn the match in our favour... and they have no answer for it! Bow of Nylea.
In addition to a complete cancellation of the damage from the likes of Lightning Strike, response to Skullcrack, Searing Blood, etc... It also adds some nice combo capabilities to our dear friend and eater of worlds.. Polukranos, World Eater.
Upon attack, Monstrous can be triggered to cause Polukranos, World Eater to damage some potential blockers before blockers are declared... With Bow of Nylea granting deathtouch, those creatures are alllllll dead without a preventative measure!
- Maindeck -
+1 Bow of Nylea
- Sideboard -
-1 Doom Blade
+1 Bow of Nylea

Intrepid Hero just didn't seem good enough and Cathars' Crusade is insane with Darien

I haven't looked at this deck in quite a while but i realize how much of a tower it was now. I cut it down from 80 to 60. I love this deck because it has so little mana cost.
Update 1
Esther, 11 years ago
Removed 3 Horizon chimera for 2 polukranos and 1 more prophet of kruphix because from playtesting i just was not seeing her enough. Removes 2 azorius charm for 2 Jace, architect of thought because he is a much better draw spell. Added negate to the sideboard to help ease the pain of playing against control :) Removed one fleecemane lion for a primeval bounty and also added one to the sideboard to side in against slow or control decks plus a fleecemane lion in the sideboard for when faced against aggro decks

3 wins : 1 Loss
Deck did superbly! and that was with -1 Pyromancer Ascension and -1 Past in Flames with 2 Lightning Bolt main (don't seem to have the cards)
First Match (loss 1-2) - was against aggro goblins, i obliterated him game 1, but the following 2 games I just couldn't manage to go off fast enough.
Second Match (win 2-0) - was against some kind of mono green deck (i think it was standard to tell the truth) she lost outright
Third Match (win 2-1) - Another monster deck that just couldn't end it before i went off.
Fourth Match (win 2-1) - Probably the closest of the last 3, it was a deck that was a bit like bottles, (hexproof battleships). just managed to go off on turn 5 and the last game on turn 3.
The Desperate Ravings did a fair bit of work tho they also caused problems here and there, but overall ok, it really hurt not having a 4th Pyromancer Ascension and the same go's for the Past in Flames

I think this is going to be the decklist for building. Will try it out and see how it works. As always, any comments and/or suggestions are welcome.
