Basilisk Collar

Artifact — Equipment

Equipped creature has deathtouch and lifelink. (Any amount of damage it deals to a creature is enough to destroy it. Damage dealt by it also causes you to gain that much life.)

Equip (: Attach this to target creature you control. Equip only as a sorcery. This enters unattached and stays on the battlefield if the creature this card is attached to leaves the battlefield.)

Oh yeah I totally forgot they made Naya Ulasht, the Hate Seed! Seems like a bunch of Ulasht staples like Mana Echoes might go pretty nuts in this. Skullclamp and Basilisk Collar also seem obligatory. If you have mana sac outlets like Ashnod's Altar/Phyrexian Altar plus your Ivy Lane/Blade of the Bloodchief this is a simple way of infing out, Ashnod's Altar seems especially good here since you net mana and Marath can already target players, if you have a counter doubler or mana filter it's an instant kill. One thing Ulasht has on Marath though is the ability to employ the all powerful Utopia Mycon :) Also Kamahl, Fist of Krosa animate all their lands and snipe them with Marath/Goblin Sharpshooter is pretty funny

Thanks for the suggestion, Balaam__. I don't think Basilisk Collar is worth it when I have so many other "nighthawks" but I'll keep in mind. RE: Aerial Responder - this creature is pretty widely known as "vampire white-hawk" as it's essentially the white value-town version of a Vampire Nighthawk. Have you not heard that before? Just curious.

I don’t see it in the deck or maybeboard, so I’m not sure whether you’ve considered it or not, but Basilisk Collar will ‘Nighthawk-ify’ any creature with flying. It kind of defeats the theme to add non-nighthawks and turn them into such, but I do see you have Aerial Responder already included so I’m not sure how closely you feel you need to adhere to the theme. It would open up a lot of options to be sure.

Never heard of PreDH, that's pretty awesome! I used to play Ulasht, he's/it's super cool and I am a fan of the janky fungus cards used to combo with it. A few recs that worked well for me in that deck:

Mana Echoes - just goes wild with mana

Ivy Lane Denizen - replaces counters on your ulasht and can go infinite

Goblin Sharpshooter - another good thing to equip with Basilisk Collar, also synergizes well as you are saccing your saprolings

Earthcraft makes a ton of mana and you even have Squirrel Nest already, or are you avoiding inf combos on purpose? EDIT oh earthcraft is crazy expensive now I don't remember it being quite so much XD

Wort, the Raidmother always felt great for the big boost to Ulasht count and ability to conspire say a GSZ to pull out multiple combo pieces

and I remember cards like Heroic Intervention being pretty important because the deck was so creature reliant and I even used Wrap in Vigor and Fresh Meat because green prot spells suck

Our decks look pretty different, I think yours is more midrangey and chill/casual with more cool on-flavor cards and less combo, which is totally valid! However if you are looking for a boost you could possibly consider a few of these. +1 for the cool oldschool format and commander

If you are looking to slow down opponents with a bunch of discard/hate bear/taxing effects then a commander you could consider is Alesha, Who Smiles at Death.

There are a lot of 1/1 creatures that make all of your opponents discard a card, and a lot of the hate-bear cards are in the 2 or less power range. Alesha giving you a way to keep bringing them back after they die or you sac them could be a useful effect in the command zone. Cards like Dauntless Dismantler, Inspired Insurgent, or Hammer Mage might help with destroying artifacts. Lurrus of the Dream-Den and Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle in the 99 could work as backup for your commander. Requiem Monolith gives you a card draw engine that can also kill your weaker ETB creatures so that Alesha can bring them back.

Goblin Sharpshooter + a way to give it deathtouch like Basilisk Collar, Onyx Mage, or Vault of the Archangel lets you repeatedly clear creatures from your opponents' boards.

Alesha's signature trick is to attack an opponents who has lost their creatures and bring back Master of Cruelties onto the board tapped and attacking (getting around the restriction of it attacking alone). The opponent won't be able to block the MoC, so their life total becomes 1, and then Alesha finishes them off. Cards like Break Through the Line can help creatures like MoC push some damage through.

There are a variety of combos that you could run as a finisher. If you don't care for combos, then cards like Cathars' Crusade and Serra Redeemer can help to make your creatures more dangerous threats. If you end up running a lot of discard and forced sac effects like Accursed Marauder then you could potentially run Tergrid, God of Fright  Flip as one of your game changers to steal your opponents' stuff and win with that.

Shattering Spree, Abrade, Volcanic Fallout (vs tokens), Basilisk Collar, Loxodon Warhammer, and Grafted Exoskeleton would be really helpful for this deck.

I think that Basilisk Collar is worth considering. It's another way to give Yusri lifelink so that you are free to call five flips each time, and it makes Niv-Mizzet much more effective at clearing out opponent's creatures.

Really love the deck speed.

is Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might  Flip something you thought of? Since most of the combo are non-combat damage, that could speed up things with Sharpshooter or Bombardment.

I also love to attach Basilisk Collar on Sharpshooter for life gain and board wipe
