Ways to protect Lich?

Now that we have Lich, Nefarious Lich, and Lich's Mastery, I figure I might as well draft up a Lich combo deck idea I've been tossing around. Unfortunately, only the new one has hexproof. What are the best ways I can protect these enchantments so I don't lose the game? The two that immediately come to mind are Aegis Angel and Greater Auramancy, both having advantages and disadvantages (especially when it comes to price). I might splash blue for counterspells, but I would rather have some proactive protection. The deck will likely be Orzhov, but the colors can change if necessary (although, being triple and quadruple black means I would like to be in as few colors as I can manage).

I would look at doing for colors. Maybe Anafenza, the Foremost so that your opponents will have to exile a bunch of things too? This will give you access to green so you can always ramp into the black you need and give you Sterling Grove and Privileged Position. I would also put Avacyn, Angel of Hope and other indestructible in the deck.

this link should help with ideas:

Due to the triple and quad black the only other things I would consider for commanders are:

Daxos the Returned- interacts well with enchants

Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts- there is a cost for hurting you

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet- similar to anafenza

Horobi, Death's Wail- if nothing can live long enough to attack you will never exile

Razaketh, the Foulblooded- always tutor what you want

Stopping damage or reducing it seems rather important to me for this kind of deck, otherwise these cards will just work against you. take a look at the pillows I use in Divine Decree some of them should really help.

Ajani Steadfast emblem and Palisade Giant would be great ways to protect you from exiling a bunch of things. I really like the giant because some people run damage that can't be prevented and the giant redirects the damage.

Don't forget Fountain Watch. I would probably never run this because it's exceedingly fragile and dependent on protection or you go bye-bye. You know someone will be gunning to destroy or exile it when you have it on-board, so it's probably for the best that you're going for the win after you cast it.

On the same note as Palisade Giant, Beacon of Destiny, General's Regalia, Oracle's Attendants, Pariah, Pariah's Shield, and Empyrial Archangel. Regalia and the Pariahs are great with indestructible creatures, so maybe have an indestructible commander

Also, Delaying Shield seems really good here with a lich on the battlefield. They only trigger when you are dealt damage, not when you lose life, so you can't be killed through their triggers.

Perhaps That Which Was Taken, Phyrexian Unlife, Blind Obedience, Soul of New Phyrexia, and Platinum Emperion.

I know you were hesitant to go into too many colours, but I would recommend you consider Oloro, Ageless Ascetic as a commander, one who gives you access to counterspells which will help with dealing withMerciless Eviction, Austere Command, Nevinyrral's Disk related effects, and already encourages a pillowfort strategy with cards like Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, Crawlspace, Maze of Ith and related effects to minimize damage.

Run Platinum Angel and Angel's Grace. Then who cares what happens to them.

First off, I would like to thank you all. As a newly blossoming Johnny (former Timmy), Lich has been my white whale as soon as I saw it in a stack of bulk rares.

I like the idea of Oloro, even if I lose access to all the hexproof support from . He is also synergistic with other cards I would already run with Lich (Well of Lost Dreams, Chasm Skulker etc). When I get the chance, I'll take a look at both Abzan and Esper as possible color combos. For anyone else brewing Lich, Sultai is also on the table since Horizon Chimera is currently the best 2 card combo with Lich I can find.

Drogskol Reaver > Horizon Chimera if you're looking to ditch Green. It doesn't go infinite, but it's on color and synergizes with what you're trying to do.

Might be obvious but watch out for overloaded Cyclonic Rifts casually killing you; I dunno if there's an easy way to protect individual permanents from it
