2nd EDH Experience, First Event —Nov. 18, 2017

Definitely a learning experience! I did great on game one, but when I thought I had it locked down for the win on the next turn, every single person (including myself) got Exsanguinated for 34! For my pod during the actual "event," I kept a 2-land hand (which I will never do again), then missed my 3rd-5th land drops; had to Enlightened Tutor for Sylvan Library, then draw/cast it T5, so got a land with it on T6.. already behind by 3-mana of anti-ramp lol. We all got destroyed by a deck very similar to my own. Game 3 I rocked the board & won. People in this play group seem to hate the Infect mechanic, claiming it is broken & they "refuse" to play it themselves. I think that is bullsh*t, since it is like Ultra-Commander damage that you don't have immediate access to & have to actually find in your deck, then use other spells/abilities to pump/evade, and all Infect creatures have very little power for their CMC. Also, the Infect means NOTHING if you lose that infect creature without dealing 10 poison, then don't have another infect creature- at least with Commander damage it also counts as regular damage! Everyone else hitting the same person doesn't help your strategy unless they are also running infect, which is unlikely- & since it doesn't go to the Command Zone for immediate re-playability, using more cards to make it hexproof/indestructible is very necessary. Infect is a very powerful mechanic, but far far from broken in EDH. People think whatever they always lose to is broken, when really they are just refusing to pack answers for a mechanic that they are losing to. Whatever- they might complain, but I think it is totally fair game to pack Infect as a win-con. I did realize I need more card draw/recursion to be able to hit land drops & keep creatures on the board for equipping. Also more reliable ramping. Made necessary adjustments to the deck. I am on the fence about possibly adding Sword of Feast and Famine & Sword of Light and Shadow; both make Arahbo, Roar of the World's Eminence trigger pointless unless another Cat is out, and I frequently have just one massive creature on board (other enchantments also become less useful with those swords in play, specifically Duelist's Heritage, Asceticism, Reconnaissance, Gift of Immortality, Rancor, Greater Good, & even Godsend, so the swords might get cut.

Howdy,I have been working on one myself too. These have been some good cards for me. I am assuming you are wanting to attack fast and powerfully. I think some instants and more card draw would be important to increasing your effectiveness quickly and protecting your creatures from removal once they know how much damage you can do with a double strike kitty. If you are not used to Protection from color cards... they are AWESOME. Useful for unblockability, targeting prevention, and damage prevention.

Powerup;-Forgotten Ancient, Overwhelming Stampede, Inquisitor's Flail, O-Naginata, Phytoburst, Larger Than Life, Mirror Entity(obviously only really good if you have a bunch of creatures)

Powerup Instants; Vines of Vastwood, Titanic Growth, Might of Old Krosa, Invigorate, Become Immense, Berserk

Card Draw; Rogue's Gloves, Mask of Memory, Infiltration Lens, (absolutely these 3) Hunter's Prowess, Momentous Fall, Rishkar's Expertise, Soul's Majesty.

Creature Protection/Unblockability; Mother of Runes, Gods Willing, Emerge Unscathed, Brave the Elements, Apostle's Blessing, Blossoming Defense, Heroic Intervention

Utility Card; Mirage Mirror, If you haven't used this card be prepared for its versatility. It is so good!

Also you may want to increase your amount of removal.

Cheers!

Muglacious_NiceFaceToad I was already considering Mirage Mirror, and after playing EDH a few times, I can think of many many times he would've been amazing. He was too slow for my Modern decks, but looks like an all-star for EDH- I am putting him in instead of Masterwork of Ingenuity. I really like Masterwork of Ingenuity, but Mirage Mirror seems much more flexible (copying Mirari's Wake sounds nice).. Infiltration Lens is interesting, but I'm not quite sold on it yet- it would have to compete for a slot with Skullclamp, & Skullclamp just seems better, even in a non-token deck- especially if paired with something broken, like Gift of Immortality & Greater Good.
