I originally built this deck with just what I had on hand and a budget of an additional 30$. Since then I've made quite a bit of trades, and gotten a lot of feedback from friends, opponents, and the tappedout community. I've made a few changes to the deck, and what you see is the current deck list. The list I'm working toward can be found at: SLAP THEM WITH YOUR BIG BLACK DECK

I'm keeping it budget conscious at the moment, and trying not to get too monetarily ambitious with new ideas. For example, I'd like to add Damnation, Thoughtsieze , Leyline of the Void, etcetera in here mixed between main and side, but they're a bit out of my price range at the moment. Given more time, they'll make it in, but I'm trying to tackle the small projects first.

The goal is to make it as competitive as possible for what's going into it. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Lately, the deck has been doing extremely well. I made it to the finals a few weeks ago and split with my opponent, and just last week I went 3-1, which is a payout at my local shop. I'm slowly building my store credit to be able to add more to the deck! The addition of Smallpox has been absolutely phenomenal, and won me many games. The cheatiest win I've had so far involved my opponent playing T1 land, Birds of Paradise, and me following with T2 Smallpox. They kept a one lander with dorks, and I won with my opponent having no permanents on board.

The biggest weakness for my deck so far is Bant Eldrazi, which unfortunately runs rampant at my store. Still haven't figured out how to deal with them. Any ideas??

Persist! Kitchen Finks seems to be a pretty common threat in my meta, be it in Podless CoCo Pod, Jund, etcetera, which are all prominent at my LGS. Additionally, lack of sweepers has been somewhat apparent in a few matchups. My budget won't allow for Damnation, so Black Sun's Zenith seems like a distant alternative, with some cute synergies. -1/-1 counters mean Geralf's Messenger will come back a 3rd time potentially, and Persist won't come back a second time (if it hasn't already).

Additionally, I get smashed pretty hard by Gifts Ungiven decks. Game 1 is usually close, but I typically lose to it anyway. Game 2, they just sideboard in Iona, Shield of Emeria, and I strictly lose. (I need to actually obtain the Relic of Progenitus). Additionally, seeing Faerie Macabre in the Living End Sideboard, it's worth consideration. I think Relic will hit more, however.

I've consistently been going 3-2 at local FNMs, dominating matchups against Affinity, and Zoo, matching up fairly to Burn and Podless Pod, and getting wrecked by Jund, Gifts, and Control. I think getting the rest of my sideboard cards will help considerably, but I'm still on the lookout for other ways to edge out some advantage in those matchups..
