Yeah, he's been in the Maybeboard for a long time, the main reason being that I don't often find myself attacking with a large crowd, so the additional damage he offers is pretty marginal.

How has the deck preformed?

It's one of my favorites, but sometimes I still get stuck with fewer "do stuff" cards than I'd like. Just last night I made a few quick substitutions in the direction of fixing that, and I look forward to the next chance I get to play. If I remember correctly, they were Jayemdae Tome ->Staff of Nin , Quicksand ->Desert , and 1xMountain ->Anger

How come you like the tome over staff and a mountain over anger? i can understand the quicksand

What I meant to show with the arrows was the first card in each pair being replaced by the second card, but I guess it wasn't as clear as I thought it would be.

Ah ok haha, makes more sense. You deck looks like alot of fun and looks liek it gives combo deck a hard time. which i approve of alot. My only EDH deck at the moment is an Omnath deck so i like to aggro.

Vicious Shadows could be interesting in the deck. Also i see the arrows now before i was just seeing the tips

What about Hellkite Igniter ? I don't think I've played a game that each player did have at least a couple of artifacts that would be worth stealing.

Also, I think you wrote an article a while back that led me to building my own Fumiko deck: You always bring me the very best violence. Let me know what you think.

I'm guessing you meant to say Hellkite Tyrant , and yeah that's an awesome idea, especially since I'm so artifact-heavy already. I haven't even taken this deck out of the box in a couple months, but the next time I do I plan on putting that guy in here, as I was lucky enough to get him in some prize packs at the Prerelease.

Cleaver Riot, baby. Not consistent, and a bit expensive, but overall it's absolutely hilarious when your creatures are guaranteed to get through. Also Generator Servant is veeerry nice ramp. Also, there's great synergy here with Five-Alarm Fire, since you'll get at least two or three blaze counters per turn. I'd maybe remove Orcish Oriflamme for it, since you've got a lot of similar effects and CMC 4 is by far the most common on your mana curve, which clashes with your commander. Actually, maybe try to cut down on 4 drops in general actually, and add something like Fire Diamond or Iron Myr in order to ramp straight to 4 asap. I also noticed that your land base conflicts a bit with itself. Valakut requires lots of mountains, and you're running Blood Moon, so I'd maximize the number of mountains you're using. I'd cut Dwarven Hold and Mercadian Bazaar, simply because they take two turns before tapping for even one mana, so they're actually far inferior to basic lands. Shivan Gorge and Temple of the False God are also subpar lands for an aggressive deck, they're too slow. Just having mountains around to fuel Valakut's trigger will likely deal more damage than shivan gorge anyways, and it also taps for red mana.

Came here to suggest Marton Stromgald. I've got Fumiko in my deck, and their interaction makes her all the more terrifying, and essentially turns all of your creatures into Fumikos.

I'd also suggest reworking your mana curve pretty heavily. You've got very expensive set pieces and especially creatures, with little to do in early turns. Red Sun's Zenith could come out for Forcefield, for example. You've also got a big CMC spike at four-drops, which is Fumiko's own cost. Red has a lot of potent options for her in the CMC 1-3 range. Some more mana accel and cheap colorless card draw can keep mono-red chugging along nicely.

Fun deck, though. I like the hyper-aggro feel.

Thanks for the comments. I've made some changes in the last several months to slim it down and give myself more early plays, but this list doesn't reflect them yet. I've been slacking off with updating my decklists here and I'd be surprised if more than half of them were actually accurate at this point.

In terms of good early plays: based on the last couple times I've played it, I think the deck still needs some more work beyond what I've already done. The trick is finding creatures at that cost with either a meaningful immediate board impact or some quality that makes them difficult to get rid of. Red's options for gaining or regaining card advantage are limited, and it's critical for a deck to have those capabilities in multiplayer and/or longer games.

I think one of my friends has a Marton Stromgald that I could trade for, but if not, it'll be easy and cheap to buy from somewhere. Forcefield... is another issue.

Here's a link to my deck if you want to look for ideas. There's a good bit of overlap in synergy between Fumiko and Marton.

Seems like you have no budget per card. What do you find your deck to be lacking in? Where is your draw? Maybe a Wheel of Fortune/Wheel of Misfortune/Wheel of Fate/Magus of the Wheel could help.

Mind Stone - Ramp on curve for commander and draw when it's not needed.

Ancient Tomb > Temple of false. You don't have enough draw to justify this IMO.

Experiment frenzy is too much IMO and should be swapped for draw or interaction like Deflecting Swat - Redirects targeted removal, draw, extra turns and more like "countering" a counterspell.

I feel like getting things rolling before too many turns pass is still the weak point. More ramp and/or early game plays would probably help. In terms of budget, I’m not looking to spend a whole lot on making more changes. The high-dollar cards that happen to be in here are mostly just luck from the things I’ve been able to collect while playing for almost 30 years.

Right now the draw is limited to the “impulse draw” effects like Outpost Siege, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, Oracle's Vault and Experimental Frenzy. I agree a wheel or two in here would help. I know I have a couple Wheel of Fortune in a casual goblin deck that doesn’t get much play. For some reason I thought it was banned in Commander. Do you think Elkin Bottle is any good or is it too clunky?

I agree with your suggestions for Mind Stone and Ancient Tomb. I’ll dig around and see if I already have any extras. I think a Fire Diamond might be good as well.

I think I’ll keep Experimental Frenzy. It’s great as a mid to late game Future Sight when I start running out of things to do.

Didn't see any mention of budget in the description, got you! Any $ per card? For example, Sensei's Divining Top is good on it's own, better with shuffle effects and best with Experimental frenzy (EF). I feel the only reason EF is useful to you is because you have no draw, thereby allowing you to use future sight without the handicap. I still feel it should be swapped out but I respect your decision. That being said, Top seriously makes EF worth it.

Elkin Bottle is not worth it IMO. Too much cost for what it does. Other options of draw include Skullclamp, Mask of Memory and Light Up the Stage are all good options for draw, particularly clamp. I would add about 2-4 more pieces of ramp, two of which being 2cmc (fire diamond/Arcane Signet and mindstone). You have a very high AVG CMC with little (particularly early) ramp to support it.

Thanks, I like the idea of Top a lot and I like all the other draw cards you just mentioned as well. I think I’ll prioritize Top and Light up the Stage since they’re my favorites, then see what opportunities I have for the others. (I also know I already have available copies in my collection, which is really the primary factor in my “budget” considerations)
