Maybeboard

Hello, and thanks for viewing.

This is a deck I originally put together some 20+ years ago. I recently began experimenting with many newer cards and possibilities. The deck has always been a blast to play and traditionally it has won more often than not.

As always, any constructive thoughts/ideas are most appreciated.

Plain and simple, this is a combat deck. While I would not consider it a weenie deck, the object is never-the-less to get a viable army on the board as quickly as possible and to locate, close with and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver.

With the exception of Mother of Runes, every creature in the deck is a Rebel and can be put directly into play from your library once you have a recruiter or two on the battlefield. Bound in Silence is a Rebel Enchantment and can also be recruited directly into play.

Recruiters:
Amrou Scout
Defiant Falcon
Defiant Vanguard
Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero
Ramosian Captain
Ramosian Lieutenant
Ramosian Sergeant
Ramosian Sky Marshal

THE SUPPLY CHAIN:
This deck is extremely dependent on creature (i.e. Recruiter) abilities. If you can get Thran Turbine on the board in the early game, it will pay huge dividends.

Once you have a few creatures on the battlefield, Gaea's Cradle and/or Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx can easily provide enough mana to feed the entire army.

While there are several useful Enchantments and Artifacts in the mix, the primary purpose of Idyllic Tutor and Enlightened Tutor is to get Coat of Arms and Worship on the battlefield.

ASSEMBLE THE FORCE:
Once you cast the first Recruiter or two from your hand, use them to recruit bigger and better Recruiters during the early game. You almost always want to save your mana and recruit at the end of your opponent's turn. This keeps your mana available if a "situation" arises and avoids dealing with summoning sickness during your turn.

Most of the Rebels in the deck provide various abilities and benefits - recruit those you need to meet the specific situation you face. You can recruit at any time you have priority!

Obviously, you will draw some Rebels into your hand. You have the option to either cast them in traditional fashion, or cycling them back into your library, via Scroll Rack, where they can be recruited later as needed.

PROTECT THE FORCE:
An important distinction is that your Recruiters do not "cast" a Rebel spell. Rather, they put the Rebel directly into play. This means that your recruited Rebels are immune to counter spells or any card which slows, stops, or alters a "Spell". For those creatures you do have to cast from your hand, Cavern of Souls can help ensure they make it onto the battlefield.

Mother of Runes is worth her weight in gold to help you survive until you assemble your forces.

Though it is an Enchantment, Bound in Silence is also a Rebel and can be recruited. Use Bound in Silence to neutralize your biggest threat.

Eiganjo Castle, Karakas and Kor Haven each provide force protection options besides their ability to produce mana.

As long as you can keep at least one creature on the battlefield - which is usually pretty easy to do, Worship makes it virtually impossible to lose the game.

FORCE MULTIPLIERS
The Glorious Anthems will pump your weenies into effective warriors. Brilliant Halo's return to hand ability makes it the gift that keeps giving as you build your army.

Once you have a few Rebels in position, Coat of Arms will pump the entire army into an insanely powerful force. If you have a changeling on the field, remember that it gains +1/+1 for EVERY creature on the battlefield. Most of the older Rebels and Mother of Runes have updated errata assigning them the additional sub-type, "Human"), allowing you to also pump Mother of Runes. Do use a little forethought before throwing Coat of Arms onto the table as it's ability may also benefit your opponent's creatures.

REINFORCEMENTS:
Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero and Ramosian Revivalist can bring Rebels back from the graveyard (to include Bound in Silence).

Ramosian Revivalist recruits from the graveyard. He is expensive to use, but it puts your Rebels directly back into play at Instant speed. Typically, I hold Ramosian Revivalist in reserve and only put him on the board if I need to bring back Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero, or to recover from a board wipe.

I am not aware of many combos which fit the theme and flavour of this deck. The deck was designed for battle, however I would love to hear from anyone with insight to any effective combos which would not require a major rebuild.

Cho-Manno, Revolutionary + Pariah

Cho-Manno, Revolutionary + Outrider en-Kor

Mother of Runes + Outrider en-Kor + any Creature
If Outrider en-Kor and the "other" Creature are both taking damage from sources of the same colour, protect the other creature with Mother of Runes. Use Outrider en-Kor's ability to redirect all damage to the protected creature permitting both to emerge unscathed.
