Desecration Elemental

Creature — Elemental

Fear

Whenever a player plays a spell, sacrifice a creature.

Plague Reaver

Tainted Strike would make a single hit from a Rotting Regisaur with 2 counters an instant kill shot. Or on the Lord of the Pit, Desecration Elemental or anybody the Blighted Agent has been working on. Really fun to cast that on an opponents creature to take out another opponent by surprise.

You might need more protection for your boss. I would be very tempted to just wait until you cast something horrible and then remove Irenicus with an instant.

Scourge of Numai is underperforming.

Should we replace it with Desecration Elemental or Flesh Reaver?

Acidarc safe was running creatures like Hypnotic Specter instead of Desecration Elemental. It gives a way to win regardless of the number of opponents but also feels lame and uninspired and doesn't really take advantage of donating them. Bouncing is a solid plan though. I was considering just more normal board wipes myself. Use something like Revel in Riches or Mortal Combat to win but I don't want to be overly reliant on just those either...

Great points, I'll have to pick up a Waning Wurm ... might consider Desecration Elemental while I'm at it.

@Gorbak, I'm not a stax expert, I'm just relaying what cards I've encountered that have made things challenging for me. Usually your focus is to hit your opponents hands and resources as well as their board-state. Alesha likes playing a lot of cheap spells, so those limited land-wipe cards would probably hurt a lot on your opponents without hurting you. It's important to know what disadvantages your deck can get away with more than your opponents decks and then once you figure that out you try to exploit it as much as possible.

A lot of stax decks I go against will usually stick to a synergy that really goes out of control if left unchecked. Synergies like: Contamination + Bitterblossom. Smokestack + Assemble the Legion. Chains of Mephistopheles + Anvil of Bogardan. Winter Orb + Stoneshaker Shaman. Desecration Elemental + Assault Suit. Rule of Law + Knowledge Pool. Creating any of the following locks can lead to the table easily losing the game if not answered appropriately. Getting those nasty locks usually requires lots of tutor effects like Demonic Tutor to maintain consistency.

Spine of Ish Sah will remove enchantments.

Phyrexian Dreadnought is a ridiculous sac target for creating zombies, and to a lesser extent Phyrexian Soulgorger, Waning Wurm, Hunted Horror and Desecration Elemental.
