Boon of Emrakul

Enchantment — Aura

Enchanted creature gets +3/-3.

Boon of Emrakul is similar to Mire's Grasp but you can also use it on your own lifelink-ers to get more life gain.

Make Obsolete is a weaker but faster Biting Rain that doesn't kill your stuff.

Subtle Strike could kill something, and can pump up one of your finishers if you draw it late. Boon of Emrakul has a similar effect.

Vessel of Malignity discards and gives you more enchantments for delirium.

When Aether Revolt rolls around, Yahenni's Expertise for another board wipe.

Oh, also, if you decide to go hard with two colors, getting a big payoff for the tribal theme such as Aphetto Dredging or Distant Melody should be at the top of your list. If you decide to get a payoff for going 5-color, Domain cards like Tribal Flames or Matca Rioters are powerful options. You could even go jund, as I mentioned above, and put together an enchantment package that uses Commune with the Gods to search up dragons or things like Exotic Curse (Domain!), Boon of Emrakul/Sangrite Backlash, Clinging Darkness, Dead Weight, Stab Wound.

I actually just decided to mainboard Dead Weight and Silkwrap. I was actually considering putting in Boon of Emrakul, but that seems like the epitome of a double-edged sword.

We have seen madness in every color, really. Even white (Frantic Purification). The "core" madness colors when madness showed up the first time around where green and blue. I don't find the idea of a UB madness walker that offensive honestly.

This looks, if anything, kind of underpowered. I think you are right in voicing perplexities about her +1 ability, which seems kind of unfocused to me. Unless this lives in a set where giving something -2/-1 and discarding a card are related in some way, having these two abilities cobbled together just feels vaguely discordant.

Considering this is a 5 mana walker in two colors with a low starting loyalty, I don't think it's crazy to make that +1 into something more powerful. Consider something like Ob Nixilis Reignited: his +1 is card advantage, his -3 straight up kills a creature, and he can afford to start with an even higher loyalty. I think you can do something closer to:

+1: Draw two cards, then discard a card

or

+2: Draw a card, then discard a card

(although if you go with the latter, the ultimate should be higher than -6)

You can move the shrinking effect to her -2. Instead of bouncing, you can Last Gasp a creature or Boon of Emrakul it or something like that.

Oletorpedo on Discussion: Archetypes of EMN Draft

Having only played the format three times, i don't have a full grasp on the format yet, but i'll weigh in on my first impressions.

The W/G humans deck is really solid when it comes together.Important commons include Crossroads Consecrator, Backwoods Survivalists, Prey Upon, Choking Restraints and Sigardian Priest. There are a number of uncommons as well. The deck is beat down, and is at its best when it can flood the board with potent threats early.

Red beatdown is also a thing, splashing one of the other colors. Does not rely much on synergy, but you could potentially go B for a more streamlined vampire/madness-deck or green for a werewolf deck.

(if you want to go full on madness, Olivia's Dragoon is a must have, preferably more than one.)

Delerium has also gotten a lot of neat cards with EMN, the big ones being Backwoods Survivalists and Boon of Emrakul IMO.

Have not yet seen a dedicated U/G emerge deck yet, and i suspect it being because it wants a lot of uncommons.

If UR Spells

Docent of Perfection  Flip x1
Convolute x1
Drag Under x2
Enlightened Maniac x1
Unsubstantiate x2
Vexing Scuttler x1
Wretched Gryff x1
Fogwalker x2

Brazen Wolves x2
Deranged Whelp x1
Falkenrath Reaver x2
Galvanic Bombardment x2
Impetuous Devils x1

Mercurial Geists x1

Emrakul, the Promised End x1
Cryptolith Fragment  Flip x1
Terrarion x1

Thoughts: This is a really fun archtype in this format. This particular pool is actually missing a lot of the cards that make this viable, namely Thermo-Alchemist and the "to the face" burn cards. You'd also typically want more bounce. I think played correctly this has the chance for some big turns, but UR Spells does seem to lend it self to chip damage. Other than the below, this was the only viable strategy that I saw, but I believe UB is the better direction.

If UB Control

Convolute x1
Docent of Perfection  Flip x1
Drag Under x2
Enlightened Maniac x1
Fogwalker x2
Unsubstantiate x2
Vexing Scuttler x1
Wretched Gryff x1

Boon of Emrakul x2
Certain Death x1
Graf Rats x2
Midnight Scavengers x1
Murder x1
Thraben Foulbloods x1

Cryptolith Fragment  Flip x1
Emrakul, the Promised End x1
Terrarion x2

Thoughts: This has pretty much everything you want in a UB control deck for limited purposes. You have a few different 'win-cons' in Emrakul, the Promised End, Chittering Host and the emerge cards. You have quite a bit of removal and enough instants and sorceries to make Docent interesting in this build, as well as enough types that will find themselves in the yard to get a discount on Emmy. You get Enchantment/Artifact/Creature/Instant/Sorcery pretty easily. It's also possible that discard outlet would help get land, however the difference between a 7 and an 8 costed titan are not significant enough to matter.

Unlike last time I had a very hard time picking between 4 colors and had to scramble to put something together after deckbuilding time was called.

In red was a Mirrorwing Dragon which is a nice bomb as well as decent 3 drops and 4 drops, and good removal on the low end. but to take advantage of the mirrorwing I needed good combat tricks and all I had was Distemper of the Blood and a few mediocre ones like Survive the Night in other colors. Red also had a total lack of playable 2 drop creatures.

White had Thalia, Heretic Cathar as well as 2 Ironclad Slayers a Courageous Outrider, 2 Fiend Binders, and a Subjugator Angel as a finisher.

Green had a Rabid Bite and Prey Upon, several good werewolves (that also count as humans) and importantly Hamlet Captain that would give me really strong synergy with the white humans.

Black had a Murder 2 Boon of Emrakuls (which my ironclad slayers can return), and a Certain Death, as well as 2 Graf Rats and the Midnight Scavengers for a sweet meld combo, and pretty decent playable creatures across the curve.

I hurryedly stuffed all the white and black creatures + black removal into sleaves so that I wouldn't keep my opponent waiting too long in match 1.

I lose match 1 because it went to turns from me sleeving and shuffling and we rolled for it an I lost (felt like I would have won :().

I get the bye and use the time to critically think about my deck and decide to switch to G/W humans (almost all my white creatures were human and that hamlet captain looked so sweet) but splashed black for the Boon of Emrakuls and Certain Death (had to cut murder because of the double black) using the very limited color fixing green gives in this set to pull off 3 colors.

I steamroll round 3, but I think the guy was on tilt, he dropped after.

Round 4 I get blown out by U/R spell slinger deck that efficiently removed my 2 and 3 drop creatures.

Overall had fun but I really want to know if I made the smart move with my deck, do you guys thing I should have build it differently?
