Silkwrap Discussion

okay! what you say about Welding Jar is right! i use it because i have some boardcleaner in my deck an i forgot it X)

Dispatch is the same like Thoughtcast: there are other cards doing the same but more consistant... in this case Silkwrap, Journey to Nowhere or classic Oblivion Ring.

before you reach the point where Tempered Steel becomes usefull, you need more than just Myr Battlesphere to get more than 1, maximum 2 myr each turn. for this reason Myr Matrix becomes much more interesting than Myr Turbine... Ring of Three Wishes or Citanul Flute are better (in my opinion) than Myr Turbine because you dont need to tap a lot of creatures which are needed for more important quests... and there are a lot more cards which let you search your library for a creature.

here is a small list of cards you should know and maybe you can make something awesome out of it ;)

Soul Foundry

Prototype Portal

Sculpting Steel

Ghostfire Blade

Myr Welder

Buried Ruin

Darksteel Citadel

i notice that there are not so much cards who throw out myr weenies other than Myr Matrix, Myr Turbine and Myr Battlesphere... or crap cards like Myr Sire

How to fix up this deck to be Modern competitive on a budget:

Remove an Anointer of Champions, and drop two of the Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip' then take out the Expedition Envoys, Declaration in Stones, Consul's Lieutenant, and finally the Gryff's Boons. (15 total cards)

Add 4 Soldier of the Pantheons (better than Expedition Envoy), 4 Champion of the Parishs (like Thalia's Lieutenant but is a one drop, and half the abilities), 4 Gather the Townsfolks ((For Champion of the Parish, and Thalia's Lieutenant)), and finally a Plains and 2 Windbrisk Heights (Card advantage).

Remove all Silkwraps, Plains, Pacifism, Lantern Scout, and Eerie Interlude (11 total)

Add 4 Fragmentizes, 4 Path to Exile, 3 Rest in Peace, 2 Stony Silence

If you want:

Switch Always Watching (doesn't affect the Gather the Townsfolk humans, more expensive, but has vigilance) for Honor of the Pure (Cheaper, works on tokens, but doesn't have vigilance, and won't buff flipped Town Gossipmonger  Flip)

Switch Gideon, Ally of Zendikar for Elspeth, Knight-Errant, Gideon of the Trials, Ajani, Caller of the Pride, Ajani Goldmane, Ajani Steadfast, or Gideon, Champion of Justice although I like Elspeth, all of them are great in their own right.

Zur as reverse santa always seemed pretty funny to me. And you get a present Banishing Light and you get a present Journey to Nowhere, and you get a present Silkwrap. You have been extra naughty so Nevermore.

Ooh that sounds fun, i can see alot of synergy there. Maybe I can replace one of the lesser cards in here with it like Silkwrap Thanks Redace878

I think mono white angels is asking for a high mana curve, though yours doesn't seem that high. I think you might benefit from instead of "trimming the fat", adding some removal to ensure your safety until you have your setup. If you want the angels/enchantment theme: Cast Out, Stasis Snare, Silkwrap, Oblivion Ring, Banishing Light, or perhaps even Quarantine Field might be fun add ins to your deck, especially with how few 3 drops you have. If you decided to do that, you could easily make it later into the game and drop your angels without worrying about speed. Also you might like Celestial Mantle for your lifegain :)

Thanks Darth_Savage !

I've replaced the Silkwrap with Journey to Nowhere, great idea. As for the Tutor, I'd use it most of the time to search for Hagra Diabolist so I opted for Brainspoil instead.Personally I'm not sure how I'd fit in Beastcaller Savant. I love the card and the fact he has haste is a big plus. But I don't really know what I should switch.. As for Captain's Claws, I'm sure to try it in the future. If Unified Front doesn't give the expected result, I will definitely consider it!

Some thoughts -

  1. Replace Silkwrap with Journey to Nowhere your in modern, no point adding a limit you don't need. Also consider Path to Exile or Fatal Push.

  2. Replace Diabolic Tutor with Dimir House Guard or Dimir Machinations the transmute card is useful in a push and a tutor the rest of the time. There are other transmute cards too...

  3. Find a space for Beastcaller Savant and Captain's Claws if you can, I'd replace the Unified Front personally.
