I think mono white angels is asking for a high mana curve, though yours doesn't seem that high. I think you might benefit from instead of "trimming the fat", adding some removal to ensure your safety until you have your setup. If you want the angels/enchantment theme: Cast Out, Stasis Snare, Silkwrap, Oblivion Ring, Banishing Light, or perhaps even Quarantine Field might be fun add ins to your deck, especially with how few 3 drops you have. If you decided to do that, you could easily make it later into the game and drop your angels without worrying about speed. Also you might like Celestial Mantle for your lifegain :)

I've replaced the Silkwrap with Journey to Nowhere, great idea. As for the Tutor, I'd use it most of the time to search for Hagra Diabolist so I opted for Brainspoil instead.Personally I'm not sure how I'd fit in Beastcaller Savant. I love the card and the fact he has haste is a big plus. But I don't really know what I should switch.. As for Captain's Claws, I'm sure to try it in the future. If Unified Front doesn't give the expected result, I will definitely consider it!

Some thoughts -

  1. Replace Silkwrap with Journey to Nowhere your in modern, no point adding a limit you don't need. Also consider Path to Exile or Fatal Push.

  2. Replace Diabolic Tutor with Dimir House Guard or Dimir Machinations the transmute card is useful in a push and a tutor the rest of the time. There are other transmute cards too...

  3. Find a space for Beastcaller Savant and Captain's Claws if you can, I'd replace the Unified Front personally.

Your mana curve is off (too many 2, 4 and 6 drops / not enough 1 drops) and you aren't running a play set (4x) of any card. If you want to make the deck more efficient then a few things should probably change...

For non-creatures I'd cut Silkwrap, Blind Obedience, Hail of Arrows, Angel's Feather and Chaplain's Blessing. Instead of these running 4xJourney to Nowhere and 4xAcolyte's Reward

For land since devotion is an easy sub-theme Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is almost an auto-include in mono-coloured decks. Also worth consideration is Emeria, The Sky Ruin, Drifting Meadow and New Benalia all offer some utility, you probably don't need more than 20 land.

Finally for creatures you have no drop creature, I would suggest 4x Perimeter Captain in that role. To make the space cut Staff of the Sun Magus and 2x Plains. You might want to look at Nyx-Fleece Ram, Hero of Bladehold / Archangel of Tithes (in preference to Aegis Angel) or if you want to spend money - Serra Ascendant!

Ertai as an enchantment control deck is very doable. You're going to want to have enchantments out the ass, and have other control elements as well. Have library manipulation like Index, Ponder, Brainstorm, Sensei's Divining Top, Long-Term Plans to find the enchantments you need when you need them (you could also have some miracle cards in there like Entreat the Angels for a win-con or Terminus for a board wipe). Have cards that like enchantments, like Ethereal Armor to make a creature big or Sigil of the Empty Throne to make angels everywhere (note that Sigil makes 4/4 angels no matter what the CMC of the casted enchantment).

As for some controlling enchantments and things, Curse of Exhaustion + Knowledge Pool will lock an opponent out of the game, or if you'd rather, you can use Rule of Law to stop everyone from casting spells. Note that Knowledge Pool lets you cast cards from anyone's exiled cards for the price of any one measly spell. You can even flicker the Pool to get more cards available to cast!

Enchantments you could include in Ertai: Silkwrap, Stasis Snare, Encase in Ice, Pacifism, Quarantine Field, Banishing Light, Curse of the Bloody Tome, Curse of Exhaustion, Rule of Law, Curse of Thirst, Curse of Echoes, you get the idea. Search on Gatherer for enchantments in esper colors and you'll find lots.

Fatal Push will kill it every time. Also, Abrupt Decay will get rid of it. Silkwrap, Journey to Nowhere, Doom Blade, good old Murder, Surgical Extraction to rip it out of his deck once it's in the graveyard, Nevermore, Pongify, Beast Within, Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Condemn, hell, even Jester's Cap will get rid of 3 of them, or you can use it to grab one, Surgical Extraction that copy for the other 3, then grab 2 other cards from his deck and possibly ruin his backup plans with yet another Surgical Extraction or simply by removing his alternate win-cons. If you want to be ridiculous, which I highly encourage, flash in Ambush Viper to kill it.

Basically, if his deck revolves around Walking Ballista, kill all of them. That's how you get around it

You don't need Mogis's Marauder because you don't have much balck permanents. I also suggest removing Heliod, God of the Sun and maybe add Fatal Push. You should swap Scoured Barrens for scry lands. I also suggest removing Angelic Overseer since you don't have much humans. I also suggest adding Silkwrap and Stasis Snare. Also Go for the Throat is an option. :)
