you could run Snow-Covered Mountains instead of regular Mountains then run Extraplanar Lens and Scrying Sheets

If Tormenting Voice and Wild Guess are good enough, is Cathartic Reunion also worth playing? Just to let you churn through your deck faster and more consistently.

Yeah, I plan on adding Cathartic Reunion. I just need to get it. Thanks for the reminder, though. +1 if you like the deck!

Hey there! I'm loving the deck, I've always been a big mono red fan myself. I'll be honest with you, I haven't looked at a feldon deck in a long time, and I think you're right about people not playing him that often. Come to think of it, I've never played against a feldon deck before. Shame isn't it. For my suggestion, I'd take out Dormant Volcano the OG karoo lands are just...really bad. At that point you'd be better off running a Mountain or Dwarven Mine . Other than that, this deck is sweet, hopefully I'll see more feldon decks in the future, they seem so interesting.

Can you get ahold of a copy of Dockside Extortionist ? Being able to reuse him a few times will ramp you hard.

I did have Dockside Extortionist in at one point. I took it out in favor of Fires of Invention , although I should rethink about putting it back in again. I've just wondered about its effectiveness since my meta doesn't run hyper competitive decks, but everyone has mana rocks. So thanks bushido_man96. I'll take out the Dormant Volcano , too Deadpoo111. Wouldn't the same reasing be true for Myriad Landscape ? Since it's a mono color deck, it's just a tapped land that somewhat ramps like the bounce land. At least the bounce land sometimes let's me discard a card for exceeding my hand size.

Lanzo493: The difference between Myriad Landscape is that you don't set your self a turn back on lands. It can also tap for mana and just etbs tapped. In addition it gets two red, Dormant Volcano only gives one red and one colorless

I overlooked the bouncing an untapped mountain part. Thanks for the advice!

Arch of Orazca - Repeatable late game draw

Commune with Lava - Late game "draw," can be used end of opponents turn as well

Hedron Archive - Ramp and card draw

Ignite the Future - Very good "draw"

Light Up the Stage - Almost as good "draw"

Mind's Eye - Expensive, but mid-late game draw is always nice

You have virtually no draw, just lots of looting which is fine for GY shenanigans but you will run out of gas quickly.

Gauntlet of Power - Ramp

Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Ramp, removal, draw and wincon all in 1

Outpost Siege - Draw

Stranglehold - Stops tutoring and land fetching

Sunbird's Invocation - If this sticks, it's GG

Strionic Resonator could be helpful to double etb effects and Cavalier of Flame is a wheel on wheels basically... other than that red isnt my strongest suit. +1 for ya.

Since you already run experimental frenzy, you might want to consider adding Sensei's Divining Top and an Ugin, the Ineffable. Top helps filter your draws and is always good. Ugin helps give you card advantage, cost reducing and it can help get rid of enchantments (among others) which red has trouble with.

With all 3 together, you can use top to draw a card, then with experimental frenzy, can cost top off of the top. Then ugin makes that cost for free, allowing you to draw your entire deck (should you wish). This will help you discard whatever you want (lands to the cavalier that the person above recommended) or big creatures for Feldon.

Thanks for the suggestions Profet93. I never though of using Ugin before, but he slots really well into this deck due to the enchantment removal, card advantage, and colorless reduction. I'm on the fence about keeping Experimental Frenzy, but we'll see how that goes. I'll add a top if I ever get to trade for one.

Any reason not to have a mana crpty

Other than the fact that it costs as much as a quarter of his deck? lol

Elfblooder, if I had it, I’d add it. The same is true for Rings of Brighthearth and Wheel of Fortune which I wish I had, too.

Hey, this is a bit out of date perhaps, but it's my Feldon deck. Please lmk what you think. Goblins... Why do they always come out Goblins?

Elfblooder, I did my best to make a no-budget Feldon deck. Here it is: Feldon: No Budget Couldn't Buy Happiness. The main changes to the deck were adding in better mana rocks and mana doublers as well as a couple of support cards and snow mountains. The creatures from this deck are already as good as they can get.

I'll take a look at your deck Ender666666 to see what suggestions I have.

A few thoughts! I'm a Feldon lover myself.

In my experience, Sneak Attack is absurd, surprise surprise. Your deck is full of powerful creatures that you wouldn't mind sending to your graveyard. I'm also fond of new purph for similar reasons, though obviously he's not nearly as broken.

Gamble is a super powerful tutor effect, and again, you don't mind when things go to the graveyard. It gives you better access to your kiki conscripts combo, as drawing 1 is common but both is harder.

Ruination is absurd in mono-red, enough said. If it's too mean for your tastes, that's fair.

Small critiques:

I think Mind Stone is better than Worn Powerstone. It's playable on t2 and doesn't compete with your 3 drop feldon, it carries less opportunity cost by making mana right away, and it cycles when you don't need ramp.

I think Tormenting Voice is better than Goblin Lore. You don't need a volume of cards in your graveyard, you need 1 or 2 specific targets in there. I would also give a shout out to 1 mana options that let you play feldon on 3, then loot and activate on 4, like Insolent Neonate or Merchant of the Vale, though admittedly these 2 options carry card disadvantage(although I think they're better than Rummaging Goblin). But I think TV is a pretty strict upgrade to GL because it will never mess you up by discarding noncreatures that you needed.

I don't think I see any graveyard hate in your list, and given the low opportunity cost of it, I think that's probably a miss. Obviously the premium option Relic of Progenitus hurts you somewhat, but cards like Soul-Guide Lantern or even Scrabbling Claws are sometimes very powerful, and when they aren't, they cantrip away at almost no cost to you. Anytime you can hurt an opponent while remaining card neutral for 1 or 2, I think it's a huge deal.

Thanks for the advice wisegreenbean. Each of those cards has been on my watch list to trade for and use in the deck. I wish I got gamble right after the reprint. I do like your reasoning for the mana rocks and discard. I’ve noticed it as well. I’ll bring in Insolent Neonate since it works well with being reanimated. I’ll have to think about what I want to remove for graveyard hate.

What's your thought on new Purphoros vs old, and running sneak attack?

July 30, 2020 1:54 p.m.

Lanzo493 says... #23

Personally, I would love to add Sneak Attack because it’s effectively a discard outlet with an upside. But the new Purphoros costs 5 to play and 3 to activate, which is a lot more. He is indestructible, but enchantments are hard to touch anyway. He’s too much mana for me. As for the old Purphoros, he does get a lot of extra damage in, but he doesn’t fit this deck perfectly. This deck goes tall, and not wide, so we don’t get as much out of him as we could. He’s still good, but he can be taken out of the deck if needed. He’s better than Torbran, though.

Awesome! I've been loving goldfishing this deck and I might try sneak attack in for fires of invention or Torbran and see how that plays.

Deflecting Swat - Counter counterspells, redirect (some extra turns), targetted removal, targetted draw, etc.... Very powerful. That's a nice swords to plowshares you have there, would be a shame if you exiled your own commander :D
