Kazierts on How Good is Atalan Jackal?
Here's actually something I disagree with wallisface. I don't think Wood Elves is much worse than Cultivate nor is marginally better than Atalan Jackal.
If we're talking about raw ramp, then yes, Cultivate is better because it can also set up future ramp such as Explore and Growth Spiral, but Wood Elves can get nonbasic lands such as Indatha Triome. I'm not saying it's an auto-include if you have nonbasic forest, but it's something I'd consider.
About Atalan Jackal, just look at its EDHrec page. You'll see roughly 4 types of commanders that play it.
- Warhammer commanders - I imagine this is because it comes in the precons.
- Haste commanders - Ognis, the Dragon's Lash, Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes, Deathleaper, Terror Weapon and Samut, Vizier of Naktamun.
- Combat commanders - Anzrag, the Quake-Mole, Mr. Orfeo, the Boulder and General Marhault Elsdragon.
- Very creature focused decks - Animar, Soul of Elements, Nikya of the Old Ways and Ruric Thar, the Unbowed.
These aren't the only commanders that run this card, but the ones that play it the most. They don't run Atalan Jackal because it's good, but because it actually synergises with the overall strategy. It doesn't enable the strategy, it is part of the strategy.

Action Surge (Karlach Extra Attacks)

NV_1980, That looks like a Xenagos deck! There's a player in my regular group that has a Xenagos, God of Revels deck, so I wanted to do something different.
There's a few differences in our two decks, and I think it comes down to your deck's focus on mana production as a means to use cards Aggravated Assault and Moraug, Fury of Akoum more than once, and admittedly, I forgot that card existed. I'll definitely be adding it to my own list. I'll also be looking at adding World at War and potentially Relentless Assault. There are a few other cards I may look into swapping out as well.
My deck above has a "cheat creatures into play" sub theme. This allows me to trigger extra combats by cheating in creatures like Anzrag, the Quake-Mole or Scourge of the Throne on the first combat. Then using the second combat to trigger another combat step or two. With Karlach, Fury of Avernus in the command zone, I also wanted to make sure I was playing other creatures that made more combat steps. Like the aforementioned cards and Combat Celebrant. Running Fury of the Horde and Savage Beating helps add to that, but shouldnt be this deck's primary source of extra combat steps.
Generating a ton of mana via creatures attacking is great value, and it works well to allow both our decks to play one or more large creatures ahead of curve; however, there are some differences that appeal to different play styles in both decks. Looking at your list has definitely given me some extra ideas, but all and all, I think both decks have different sub themes that may appeal to a variety of other players. Thanks for the comment!

straight up casual 60 deck (sorry I am an EDH player usually), but wouldnt 4 Birds of Paradise just be straight better mana dorks? Could also go with your classic Llanowar Elves and the such.
Embercleave to go over the top with double strike damage? Anzrag, the Quake-Mole for extra combat?

GBr Rigging Alara

I'm having a lot more fun with this deck than I thought I would. Super janky though. Far too helpless in the first couple turns. But if it hits on turn 4 or 5 it's got real juice.
Tinkered with it a bit. Virtue of Persistence and Toxrill, the Corrosive feel a bit disappointing when I hit them from an Etali or a Rigging. They're weak as control cards too so I felt like swapping in Chaotic Transformation that is also a weak control card but is better at using the underwhelming Insect or Blood tokens from Old Rutstein (and hitting a Portal to Phyrexia from transforming a blood token is a much better control payoff than Toxrill). I almost want two Transformations in the deck but I have a nagging feeling that Gix's Command is important and I don't want to cut one of the other permanents for it.
Liliana of the Veil feels a bit better as a control card. Usually I don't want to discard a card unless I have a Portal in play, but if I have the option of transforming Lili into a Nissa later I can stomach passing without using her abilities for a while if I don't want the discard.
I'm also testing out one Anzrag, the Quake-Mole. It also enables the Rigging trigger on cheap mana, and it's a unique angle of threat that can get bonus Rigging tokens enabled. Olivia, Crimson Bride likes Anzrag too. Atraxa loves getting extra attacks. But even with all that if it's stuck on its own it doesn't have an ability that gets you unstuck like a Sheoldred or a Bramble Familiar or even a Shakedown Heavy can. Could easily be not good enough. The caves work really well. Playing the Invasion of Alara Flip or hard casting the Atraxa is a bit hard but still consistent if you plan out your land plays carefully. Swapped out a couple Promising Vein for the Volatile Fault as the treasures are better for the deck than the basic land, and the extra ability to kill an opponent's man land is something that the deck might as well have as an option.
But overall this deck just wants to pull off a big Rigging play and then bully the opponent from there as hard as it can. If you need more than spot control to own the combats might as well concede.

King Stranger, Make Me Strong! *PRIMER*

Hi Profet93, appreciate your card suggestions, but I would prefer if you don't use remarks anmymore like 'IF YOU LISTEN TO ANYTHING' or 'DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS CARD'. This comes across as incredibly condescending; especially to a player who's been at this game since more or less its inception. I appreciate that you're trying to make decks as good as you can make them according to YOUR view, but please keep in mind that you're not the ultimate authority on MTG and that there are other views than yours out there. Suggest what you want to suggest, but if you're tired of people not listening to your advice, please vent your frustration about that someplace else.
All that being said, I think Greater Good is an excellent suggestion and would probably replace Shadow in the Warp; I like Warp but it's not really required in the deck as it's fast enough at casting creature spells without it and the damage it deals is fine but not impressive. I also like your Castle Garenbrig and Ancient Tomb suggestions for some additional mana advantage. Lastly, I think I'll give Guardian Project a shot in here as a replacement for Xenagos, the Reveler. As a sidenote, I've recently acquired an Anzrag, the Quake-Mole; he'll replace Combat Celebrant.
The additional suggestions (especially the sorceries) on card-draw you made are nice, but I think I'm now sufficiently covered on this front and I want to keep this deck as permanent-rich as possible. Thanks for your help.
