Local tournament update
DrMundo, 11 years ago
Played this deck today at a tournament at my local store. Every single one of my matchups were aggro or midrange (pretty much 75% of the people were playing aggro).
Game 1: Played against a Boros Midrange deck with assemble the legion/purphoros/heliod/tajic
Round 1 : Had to mulligan to 5 to get at least 2 lands... Never got more than 3 lands. Lost at turn 7 without being able to do anything at all, apart from casting 1 Magma Jet
Round 2 : Sideboarded Detention Sphere and Blind Obedience, never ever got a blue land. I had so many great spells in my hand (counterspells, Sphinx's Revelation Detention Sphere, Supreme Verdict and could never cast anything. Lost on turn 6.
Result : 0-2
Game 2 : Against Mono black devotion aggro
Round 1 : Got 4 lands on my opening hands with Azorius Charm, Magma Jet and Counterflux, great opening hand.
I burned a couple of his early game creatures and started installing my board with Ral Zarek. Dropped AEtherling on turn 7. He managed to drop Erebos, God of the Dead but I killed him pretty fast with AEtherling and Warleader's Helix. I win.
Round 2 : Similar, he never could install his board and I quickly dropped AEtherling again. Easy win.
I win 2-0
Game 3 : Playing against aggro Red Deck Wins.
Round 1 : Had to mulligan to 4... never had more than 1 land. Lost in 5 turns. Round 2 : Never got past 2 lands (which were in my starting hand), lost on turn 6.
I lose 0-2
Game 4 : Against B/R aggro midrange
Round 1 : Yet another aggro deck, I killed his early Rakdos cackler]¸with Magma Jet and bounced a couple other creatures. I put Ral Zarek on turn 5 after sweeping the board with Supreme Verdict on turn 4. He managed to drop a Stormbreath Dragon which I killed with Turn / Burn. I dropped AEtherling on turn 7, he then made his Stormbreath Dragon monstrous (dealing me only 1 damage luckily). He conceeded the next turn because I pulled a nice play with boosting AEtherling to 8 damage and giving him lifelink with Azorius Charm, I had 15 life and he only had 6 at that point.
Round 2 : Sideboarded in Blind Obedience, and Essence Scatter.
Started with 4 lands in my opening hand with Blind Obedience, Turn / Burn and Magma Jet. Great opening hand.
Basically went the same, destroyed his early creatures, he used Thoughtseize to make me discard my Blind Obedience but I drew an other one on turn 3. Blind Obedience won me this game because all his Ash Zealot, Spike Jester and Stormbreath Dragon would enter the battlefield tapped, giving me more time for a Supreme Verdict. He scared me on turn 4 by playing Slaughter Games and exiling my 2 AEtherling.
I then put Ral Zarek on turn 4 and then countered a couple of his spells. Then, nothing really happened until 5 turns later (I managed to pull Ral Zarek's -7 ability when he had 8 counters and got 2 extra turns). I cast a Sphinx's Revelation for 7 mana which made me draw both Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Jace, Architect of Thought which I both cast the next turn.
Then it was pretty much over, I had 3 counterspells in my hand and all my 3 planeswalkers were leveling up each turn. I killed him when I used Elspeth's -7 with 6 tokens in play to kill him with a whoping 24 damage. I could have waited 1 more turn to pull Jace's -8 too, it would have been pretty cool to cast all of my planeswalkers ultimate abilities in 1 round.
Pretty easy win. 2-0
Conclusions : The deck works fantastically assuming I am not mana screwed (which happened half the time but seems pretty athypical considering I have 25 lands...)
It was truly dominant against matchups that are commonly pretty tricky when you play control and definitely held it's own, when I started installing my board, things got very dangerous. The only card that I feel might be a good idea to drop is Steam Augury, not a bad card but I haven't used it once and still pulled easy wins without it, so I'm thinking upping the amount of other spells or putting Anger of the Gods in.
Final score : 2-2

Update 1
derposaurus, 11 years ago
Here's my list of changes, with explanations why:
Removed Slaughterhorn and added in 2 Ghor-Clan Rampager. I feel like ghor is a better card in general, granting 4/4 and trample for only one extra mana.
Added 2 Door of Destinies, they work perfectly when based around a creature-type deck. I might add more later.
Added 2 Primeval Bounty, spawning in a 3/3 beast with every beast I put down, and buffing a creature I have by 3/3 when I use an enchant or spell? Yes please!
Removed my 3 Lay of the Land and added 4 Voyaging Satyr. I was going to use elvish mystics, but I think satyrs are a better fit because they can untap forests or mountains, and aren't limited to green mana.
Removed Ember Beast. I just think it is a really bad card and it was only in there because it was a beast.
Removed a maurading malhorn and put another Kalonian Tusker in its place.
Removed my 2 Briarpack Alpha. They were pretty pointless except for a surprise bonus-damage thing.
Removed Spiked Baloth, because, yanno, it's illegal.
Removed Enlarge, because I felt like it was a pretty bad 5-drop.
Thanks for the help so far!

Updated the Deck

I have updated the deck to what exactly it is as of the moment. Thanks for the advise on this Rhadamanthus. You may now review the deck and provide me some advise on what should I remove and add on it to improve its fast killing/aggro. There might be as well some other goblin cards out there which has a great potential that I'am not aware of. Please do tell me the name of the card if you think that may help to improve my Goblin Deck. Thanks in advance!

First round of revisions
vicentil, 11 years ago
Taking the wonderful suggestion, I tweaked this and started playing. It's not quite where I want it to be, I'd love to throw Obzedat, Ghost Council in, but currently can't afford to pick the card up.
First game, went head to head against American Control...and won. We're changing the meta here folks! (Just Kidding)
I'm having problems vs mono-black devotion, specifically when someone (for whatever insane reason) is running Abhorrent Overlord and Shadowborn Demon. The Whip of Erebos is a slight problem, but I think the real issue is the lack of ability to deal with flying. I removed the Merciless Eviction but I'm thinking I may need some type of mass removal. Would love some thoughts regarding how to deal with fliers.
Will update this more as I play.

Monday Night Tournament
sylvannos, 11 years ago
There wasn't enough people last night to hold a tournament, so I decided to play this deck again to help start one up. **Round One: White Weenie--** 1-2 **Round Two: U/W Control--** 2-0 **Round Three: Mono-Red Devotion--** 2-0 **Top Four: W/R Heroic Combo--** 0-2

Threw up Meletis Charlatan on the maybeboard. I do like the idea of his abilities and it doesn't seem like it would cost TO much mana for 2xBreaking / Entering or 2xDivination.
Making my deck faster
Noctum_Excidio, 11 years ago
I changed a few minor things:
- I put out cabal therapy and put in 3x putrid imp
- I also put in rune-scarred demon to tutor whatever I need
- I also removed necromancy and put 4x reanimate
- I replaced urabrask with Maelstrom Wanderer
For the time being it is more flexible and faster on T1 but weaker in the late game. Necromancy and Living Death will remain in the sideboard as they are just hilarious against limited grave hate that only targets a few creatures in my graveyard.

A new focus on goblins
tehnewnew, 11 years ago
I removed Markov Blademaster, Anger of the Gods and Chandra's Phoenix to make way for Dragon Fodder, Krenko's Command and Goblin Grenade. The goal is to get as many creatures on the stack as quickly as possible using Memnites and Young Pyromancer in conjunction with Dragon Fodder, Krenko's Command and any lightning bolts if needed. Once you start pumping out a ton of tokens, wait for the right moment and overload Dynacharge and punch through your opponents defenses. If necessary, add Anger of the Gods from the sideboard to sweep blockers before your attack. When available, use Goblin Grenade with Reverberate for an easy 10 damage. (or with Lightning Bolt as a finisher) If playing against a blue deck, it's probably best to keep the Reverberates around to counter counter-magic so that they can't block Krenko's Command or Dragon Fodder.

Trying to start flickering some creatures with deadly 'enter the battlefield' effects, using Deadeye Navigator and Venser, the Sojourner

Major Change
cosmokai2000, 11 years ago
So, I changed this up majorly, moving some stuff to a different deck and other stuff to this one and changed it quite a bit. Also folding the comments in because it's essentially a completely new deck
Updated card list
yellodoodle, 11 years ago
A lot of this deck has been modified to include wish-list items: I'm focusing on spot removals until I can bring up enough mana to cast Obzedat or Elspeth. I also like the idea of forcing an opponent to top-deck at mid-to-late game, while I keep on drawing. I have a few questions that I would love to get help on: Is this a good strategy, or do I have too few of those two cards to meaningfully bank on them? Would it be necessary to include any enchantment removals, by the looks of the way Theros is shaping up? Is having 2 blind obediences redundant? I was mainly going for being able to draw it early, and even if it becomes less useful later in the game, I can still use it for extort.
