I have been playing Magic: the Gathering since the release of Eighth Edition in 2003, so I would like to believe that I am fairly skilled and knowledgeable regarding this game, but I have no problem admitting that I do not know everything that there is to know about this game, and that there are players who are more skilled than I am in playing it. There is always more to learn and new skills to develop, but, at the same time, I occasionally wonder if I have reached the level of skill that I should have, for all of my years of experience, since I do not win games as frequently as I believe that I should and I still occasionally experience difficulty with understanding certain concepts or strategies in the game, so perhaps I need to take a new approach to this game, so that I can be more receptive to new ideas and play with greater skill.
What does everyone else say, about this subject? Does experience with the game automatically translate into skill, or does skill require more than simply years of playing the game? I certainly am interested to hear what everyone else has to say, on this subject.

The problem with Mindwrack Liege is that since you already got to 6 mana, you can likely just hard cast the things your cheating in. If the liege is your top end, your likely to just be cheating in another one, but if it isn’t, you have a reasonable chance of hardcasting it, consider most of red/blues top ends are 7-8 mana.

Hey Niko9! Yes, I think End the Festivities is crucial in a deck like this for its ability to wipe out small blockers. When you’re playing a deck with small creatures and no evasion, taking out your opponent’s board can be the best way to get through. Cheers!

I like the general direction you're taking with the Girl. As far as wincons go, she's propably a pretty great voltron. To go a little harder into that aspect of hers, maybe try Tarrian's Soulcleaver and Blade of the Bloodchief. Also, you might want a way to re-use your Girl: Fake Your Own Death and similar effects combined with your sac outlets are a black way of blinking. Finally, some damage effects or other possible wincos that don't die to the Girl seem important. Bastion of Remembrance, Grave Betrayal and Revel in Riches seem pretty powerful for that.

The only opportunity for a trigger to go on the stack happened after both events are resolved. Just resolve tomb first and sacrifice second and it will work.

Demonlord of Ashmouth dies without a +1/+1 counter while I control Desecrated Tomb. It's undying ability triggers, returning it from my graveyard to the battlefield. A card has left my graveyard, so Tomb triggers, and Demonlord enters, so its ability triggers.
I want to resolve Tomb first and Demonlord second, so I can create a bat token to sacrifice to Demonlord's trigger. But, I'm unsure if I can do this. I do know if the timing of the triggered abilities was the same, then I could order them on the stack as I choose, but IS the timing the same in this case?

I haven't read the short stories for Lorwyn Eclipsed yet so I don't know what the current state of the story is. However, I did have a theory pop into my head back when I first heard that Strixhaven students were going to be the main focus characters for the Lorwyn set. I think that WotC doesn't know what to do with the MtG story anymore beyond their current plotline and that the planeswalkers have kind of run their course as the main characters of the franchise. Having a bunch of kids as characters that explore planes and get into trouble in a sort of Scooby-Doo type fashion provides a younger cast of characters to try to appeal to a younger audience and draw them into the game as new players. It would be in line with HASBRO's past experience with the kids cartoon format for selling toys. Who knows, maybe it would wind up as an actual cartoon.
I had this mental image of an MtG/Lego crossover where it is Lego making kits based around the adventures of the Strixhaven students on different planes.

Vicarian Trumpeting Carnosaur was printed 3 years ago. I'm not saying its a good thing, but 6 mana goes a long way these days. Tbh I feel like it is kind of balanced. 4 mana, and a weird extra cost, for a 4/4 with some extra stuff, always tough to say with this stuff but I could see it.

I read the planeswalker's guide and was disappointed with the set up. I guess portals from Lorwyn to Shadowmoor make it easier to justify one set.
However, I feel like there's too much story to push what are essentially two planes into one block.
Now for having Strixhaven students as the main characters does sound odd. There are plenty of legendaries already between the four original sets and we know a ton are coming back. I imagine the reason isn't so much for the story as it is to set up a return to strixhaven.
Personally, even though I generally dislike the gateway, they did first appear in Lorwyn (card-wise, not story wise). It could of been a fun tie in and a better one than off-brand Potter characters visiting.

I am very excited that the game has finally returned to Lorwyn and Shadowmoor, as the fact that those planes were not as popular as were several other planes meant that WotC has largely ignored them, before now, but I am rather displeased by the fact that the main characters of the story of Lorwyn Eclipsed are students from Strixhaven, because I would have preferred that the story be entirely self-contained, so I would like to ask the other users here how they feel, about that. Did WotC choose to have students from Strixhaven as the main characters in Lorwyn Eclipsed specifically to serve as surrogates for the audience, because it has been so long since the original Lorwyn/Shadowmoor block was released, and not all players may be familiar with that plane, and how likely is it that those students may be main characters in the upcoming Secrets of Strixhaven set?
What does everyone else here have to say, on this matter? Why are the main characters in Lorwyn Eclipsed students from Strixhaven? I certainly am interested to hear your thoughts, on this subject.

Vicarian Not exactly, per se? It's technically whatever fits the previous issued challenge, but some make what they want; if that's a fair or balanced card, fine, otherwise, also fine. Look through some of the previous pages, there are some that are more WOTC appropriate, and others not so much. Goal of the forum is fun, and if a by-product makes a good card, so be it. To each their own, as it were.

theNeroTurtle, they could cast stuff in response, but anything they dont use will be emptied out of their pool when mana short resolves. They would of course, still need stuff to cast at instant speed. Its essentially a lesser version of Silence, but in monoblue. I could even cast it during upkeep/draw to screw someone out of a turn

Good to hear; thanks much! I'm definitely going to go ahead and at least try to build her. Mostly just a bunch of X/1s to get the party started, and some BFSs for the aftermath (Votron package + a 4/4 with Menace + a nearly empty board = seems prettty decent, at least as a starting point).

That's a REALLY good point, thank you! I'll definitely watch out for that. I think it'll be fine ... Turn 5 board wipe is almost a tradition in my usual pod anyways, so telegraphing it louder will probably be just fine. But with that baggage in mind (plus to keep it from getting too same-y with my friend's Zurgo deck), I think I'll probably forgo any Blood Artist effects.
