Ixalan Block: Abzan Huatli Tokens

Block Constructed - Ixalan Tokens

Rzepkanut

I'm fairly certain the Ixalan block constructed format was only really played on the MTG Arena beta test (and it was a temporary format), but maybe this info is useful for something...whatever. In the final days of the format this became my favorite deck to play.

Interaction

Pretty minimal, most cards in the deck are token makers to combo with Huatli's emblem. Our plan is to overwhelm opposing creatures with pump spells and sheer numbers not destroy them with removal spells.

Mana Base

Crappy dual lands in this block. Flipping Itlimoc is easy in this deck, and hilarious with an emblem.

Creature Base

Tokens, tokens, tokens. And tokens.

Matchups

Its favorable against decks that don't wipe the board. So its great vs most (aggro) decks in the format...all except ones running Golden Demise, Raging Swordtooth or Fiery Cannonade. Tempest Caller can punch through the tokens for lethal, and so can a fast flying army too. But racing aggro with all these lifelinking creatures puts us in the lead usually. The only super hard matchup is sweeper heavy control.

Conclusions

I'm not updating this list again, since the format is not played on arena anymore. But it was a blast to play for a while!!!
