You're not using Omniscience ? Show and Tell + Omniscience = You win.

Hahahaha indeed zandl, indeed. Once I can get my hands on one I will absolutely put it in here and see how it works :-). Thanks for the reminder for sure. Next objective: get an Omniscience . Haha

But even more than Omniscience , I need a Eureka . It's hard to find :-(

Got the Omniscience . I accidentally discovered that it's an infinite combo in my deck with Greater Good ...definitely won that game. another game I wasn't so lucky. I Omniscience 'd t3 and then didn't draw any playable cards randomly. Lost that one of course.

You seem to just be using your general for its colors. Why not Child of Alara , or the Megazord himself, Progenitus ?

August 17, 2012 3:12 p.m.

ameuser says... #6

Indeed, not many 5-color generals are there for anything else (besides sliver tribal for the sliver lords, dragons for Scion of the Ur-Dragon , scarecrow tribal for Reaper King , nothing whatsoever for Cromat , and elemental tribal for Horde of Notions haha). Mostly, tho, I don't own a Child of Alara currently. I could certainly use child. Ok. Once I obtain one I'll give it a shot and see how he works. Also: Progenitus will absolutely not be my general because I'd rather get him out turn three by sacking Sakura-Tribe Elder to Natural Order after a t1 Sol Ring :-). Much more powerful than having to hard-cast it. But I will endeavor to find a Child of Alara !! :-)

Also, Sliver Queen is useful sometimes when I have a slow hand and need chump blockers until I get rolling

Sliver Queen gets it done most of the time. Chump blockers out the ass can definitely save you in games.

Not v/s mono green but v/s most everything else yea. Have you thought about adding Virulent Sliver to give your tokens a nasty bite should people keep killing your bombs?

August 17, 2012 6:42 p.m.

ameuser says... #9

Interesting suggestion Ohthenoises. Sadly, if I top-deck Virulent Sliver with something like Djinn of Wishes or Intet, the Dreamer , I would be greatly underwhelmed. The goal for my deck is to never have any dead draws whatsoever. It happens sometimes, but I'm extremely likely to draw a winning card or something that puts a winning card into play. while Virulent Sliver is good with Sliver Queen , I just don't play her enough to warrant the little guy being in the deck. If you playtest the deck (please do! It's actually currently my favorite deck to play in general--i like the concept) a few times, I think you'll find that by t5 or 6 I should have at least a few bombs out already.

Why Inexorable Tide ???

Also probably not Burn at the Stake : if I have creatures to tap, they will be vastly superior to a burn spell, especially this one, and I'll be attacking with them; however, I see the point of tapping a ton of little sliver tokens to it so that's pretty cool...if I played the queen more often.

OH! This just occurred to me. You have a lot of "reveal the top card of your library" stuff like Djinn of Wishes . card:Garruk's Horde might be super awesome for you.

August 17, 2012 9:05 p.m.

ameuser says... #13

Sadly, though, card:Garruk's Horde doesn't let me cast any creatures for free, which is the point of the deck. I may as well run futuresight since it's an enchantment and not on an easily-killable, otherwise vanilla creature. Running Call of the Wild would make me want to play card:Garruk's Horde more though.

Academy Rector can help you get out Omniscience or Sneak Attack .

Brilliant! Thanks! I totally forgot about Academy Rector ! I will get one ASAP and see how it works in the deck :-)

ameuser, I think Burn at the Stake is good enough to just run with Sliver Queen ... a few slivers and it becomes pretty huge!

August 19, 2012 8:47 a.m.

ameuser says... #17

True, but Burn at the Stake is a more token-centric card in the first place. If I was playing a Rith, the Awakener token deck I probably would put it in, but in this deck it would usually just be pretty dead. I also don't have many mana/land accelerants, so I usually don't have infinite or a ton of mana to make a bunch of tokens.

Long_Con says... #18

I think I'll have to try one in Royal Jelly then. :)

August 19, 2012 6:54 p.m.

ameuser says... #19

Heck yea! Give it a shot, I'm curious if it'll work in your deck.

August 19, 2012 6:59 p.m.

It seems like an interesting concept. I feel like you may have trouble with draw power; do you find that to be a problem?

Creatures I don't think are necessary:

  1. Avenger of Zendikar - If you're playing bombs every turn for free, this seems much less intimidating and it doesn't really have any added utility to it besides making chump blockers (but you should be outracing other decks' abilities to put fatties out anyway).
  2. Djinn of Wishes - Unless you're playing this card to cheat Omniscience into play, it doesn't really seem to belong. You'll be casting everything for free anyway.
  3. Intet, the Dreamer - See above.

I would need to actually play against this deck to give you better feedback; I'm not sure how you play it out and what cards you rely on more than others (besides the ones that cheat others into play).

So my goal, if I draw the right opening hand, is to put Omniscience , Blightsteel Colossus , or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre into play early with Show and Tell . I put in Djinn of Wishes and Intet, the Dreamer in order to help increase the redundancy of the "play this card without paying its mana cost" or "put this card into play" effects. But if you think I have a sufficient number of those effects already I'll make some changes in the creature base :-)

I suppose draw spells would be good, I'm not sure which ones would be better to take the place of other cards. I want at least 29 creatures in the deck to go with the theme of an attack-style deck, but mostly I want Lurking Predators to be viable in the deck. I could put Consecrated Sphinx back into the deck, but it usually just gets killed or passed around the table. Rhystic Study is great too, an I could put Dragon Mage in as well...Necropotence might actually work really well in the deck, and I can't find my Sylvan Library but once I do I'll put that in the deck for sure.

Also, Omniscience with Greater Good produces an effect similar to an infinite draw combo, just because of all the high-power creatures in the deck. This allows me to basically play my entire deck out and find Urabrask the Hidden and/or Maelstrom Wanderer , then attack.

Surprise Deployment is a funky way to drop in a creature with a useful ETB trigger or static effect, and then it goes back into your hand so you can use any ETB triggers again later.

Inkwell Leviathan is always a wonderful creature to cheat onto the battlefield, as are Bloodfire Colossus , Avatar of Slaughter , and Rune-Scarred Demon .

August 23, 2012 5:19 p.m.

ameuser says... #24

Wow! I'll definitely look into Surprise Deployment , it fits the theme perfectly I'd say :-). And Avatar of Slaughter and Rune-Scarred Demon seem like powerful creatures. I'll definitely try them out. Thanks a bunch! I didn't know a couple of those cards existed and I forgot about the slaughter guy. Thanks a bunch you're really helpful! I'll grab those ASAP :-)
