WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY SWAMP!?!

You would think this deck is a meme deck, and you would be absolutely correct. This deck has the closest thing you can get in mtg to Shrek himself commanding it. (I mean, Sol'kanar is the "Swamp King".) The deck also revolves around one of the biggest meme creatures in Magic. No I'm not talking about Storm Crow, I'm talking about Rat Colony . Now, besides for the memes, why did i put Sol'kanar aka Shrek in charge? Because Grixis (Blue, Black, and Red) just makes everything just that much more fun. Lifegain for every rat is also REALLY good.

Why Include Blue: Show

1. Counters ( Counterspell and Negate )
2. Cyclonic Rift to get rid of blockers
3. Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive to make blockers ineffective
4. Academy Ruins to get back artifacts our opponents may have destroyed

Why Include Red: Show

1. Fervor to give all rats haste
2. Hellrider to make blockers pointless
3. Sunbird's Invocation to get more rats
4. Experimental Frenzy to get rats out quicker
5. Mob Justice and to get damage in if an opponent has a pillowfort deck
6. Goblin War Drums for menace

Why Include Black: Show

1. Okay. Let's get this straight. You can't have a Rat Colony deck without Rat Colony , but if you need more reasons, they'll be next on the list.
2. Mana Boosters: Crypt Ghast , Magus of the Coffers , and Liliana of the Dark Realms
3. Recursion: Patriarch's Bidding , and Phyrexian Reclamation
4. Lifegain: Whip of Erebos and Exquisite Blood
5. Sanguine Bond (Which pairs real nicely with Exquisite Blood .
6. Blanket of Night (When you got Cabal Coffers out.)
7. Necropotence For when you need cards OR you have Experimental Frenzy out.
8. Tutors: Demonic Tutor , Beseech the Queen , and Diabolic Tutor
9. Marrow-Gnawer

The Rest: Show

1. Other Mana Boosters: Jet Medallion , Bontu's Monument (which is also a way to deal tons of damage and gain life), Extraplanar Lens , Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth , Cabal Coffers , Cabal Stronghold , and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
2. Thespian's Stage and Vesuva to copy Cabal Coffers , Cabal Stronghold , and/or Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
3. Thrumming Stone . This is the best card in the deck. If you can get this out and play 1 or 2 Rat Colony 's, there's a great chance you'll summon EVERY rat in your library, since the ripple 4 effects cast the rats, the new rats from the ripple 4 effect will ALSO have ripple 4. 'Nuff Said.

This deck surprisingly has a very consistent win rate, or at least on mtgo. Like I win about a third or more of the games I play with this deck. I once got up to a quadruple digit life total with this deck. I don't fully understand it either, but it works surprisingly well.
