The Gearhulk Revolution

This is a Mardu midrange, artifacts deck featuring Cataclysmic Gearhulk + Pia's Revolution + Reckless Fireweaver + a bunch of eggs.

In the early game, we're looking to get out Fortified Rampart and Reckless Fireweaver to stall out early aggro creatures.

In the mid game, we want Foundry Inspector to help us cast our artifacts (and I likely wouldn't run this at all if it wasn't for my gearhulks and Tamiyo's Journal) to trigger Reckless Fireweaver. Herald of Anguish fits in that midgame mold as well, being a big, evasive body that has an amazing passive ability as well as an artifact sacrifice outlet.

In the late game, we want to be casting gearhulks. I chose Cataclysmic Gearhulk because when your board is cluttered with artifacts and you have a Pia's Revolution on the board, you might as well call it goodnight. Where Cataclysmic Gearhulk is basically just a big bomb for the ultra-late game, Combustible Gearkhulk is our more stable and consistent threat. It just helps so much more that they are both artifacts. We also have a single Metalwork Colossus in the deck just because it has potential to come out for a really low cost, but we definitely do not want to over-draw this card. My main reasoning for 2x Cataclysmic and 4x Combustible is because we really want to have enough mana to cast artifacts that return to our hand after we lay down that Cataclysmic Gearhulk.

The general theme of our deck is to achieve static damages from artifacts ETB and LTB using Reckless Fireweaver + Pia's Revolution. With that in mind, what we like most is cheap yet useful artifacts that have their own self-sacrifice mechanic (aka eggs).

Lets start with the Aether Revolt Implement cycle. I feel like Implement of Combustion is our best option. Implement of Malice is also amazing. I would love to put Implement of Examination in but it's hard to find room for it. If we were running blue, it, as well as Reverse Engineer, would be auto-includes. Implement of Improvement is definitely a consideration if not just for the sideboard, and Implement of Ferocity is, I personally believe, our worse choice even though it's at 1CMC.

2x Prophetic Prism and 3x Terrarion help us with mana fixing but I'm not 100% sure on the numbers of each here though I feel this might be right since Terrarion has the egg effect while Prophetic Prism costs 1 more but replaces itself and is more reliable mana fixing. I really ham also considering Cultivator's Caravan though. We already know it's a beast card, but with this deck I don't know if I'll ever be able to effectively pay its crew cost considering my Foundry Inspector would be the only true pilot and it's a 3-of.

My 1-of Key to the City is, obviously, to help a gearhulk or colossus get through while my 1-of Tamiyo's Journal serves a few purposes: clues are good for improvise, they trigger Reckless Fireweaver, they can keep you gassed up, or the card itself can just go find me a Metalwork Colossus.

Currently, the sideboard is focused on creature removal since there isn't much in our main deck, presently, to deal with our opponents board. Fatal Push is likely incredible in this deck. I see it dealing with a <= 4cmc 80% of the time. Declaration in Stone is obvious since we are in white. Unlicensed Disintegration is a maindeckable answer to just about anything. Radiant Flames is the only conditional card that I would never consider maindecking that we have in the side. I can see this deck struggling against super wide aggro strategies so here's the answer to that, though I'm absolutely considering Yahenni's Expertise instead.
