i always loved the idea of a planeswalkers deck, would it be weak to mono-blue control?

Thanks mairc86

@ kram130

Illusions and Delver were just no threat. As for pure Mono-Blue control, This deck is really powerful against the control mirror. Just play planeswalkers with mana open to play a Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leak so you can get them to resolve. Play their whole draw go game with them. The only decks this deck has problems with is aggresive aggro, like U/B Zombies with Phyrexian Obliterator MTG Card: Phyrexian Obliterator , and Undying shinanegans. I tried to tailor a good sideboard for that though, and that match up still needs tweaks.

Nice deck (even if but the leet-speak name made me throw up a bit). +1

I expected Tribute to HungerMTG Card: Tribute to Hunger or Geth's VerdictMTG Card: Geth's Verdict in the sideboard for [[thrun, the last troll]. Also an Oblivion RingMTG Card: Oblivion Ring or two for Shrine of Burning RageMTG Card: Shrine of Burning Rage. Mental MisstepMTG Card: Mental Misstep against Surgical ExtractionMTG Card: Surgical Extraction and Nihil SpellbombMTG Card: Nihil Spellbomb. Of course your sideboard is up to your meta, but it seems like you have an abundance of token hate.

Thanks for all the +1's guys!

@ Graft

Thanks man.. I have Phantasmal ImageMTG Card: Phantasmal Images to cover Undying, legendaries, and early aggro creatures. It's hard to shave cards off the list right now, so I can't find a spot for any Mental MisstepMTG Card: Mental Missteps ATM. I have Nihil SpellbombMTG Card: Nihil Spellbombs in the side already. Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bombs are my Oblivion RingMTG Card: Oblivion Rings right now, those destroy Shrines also.

March 5, 2012 2:50 p.m.

I love your deck, mostly because I find myself adoring Super Friends decks. Mine is Super Duper Friends(shameless plug). With that, I'd say you have a great formula here. With my experience, the two decks that I've lost to (the second one was a narrow victory that was probably due to misplays on my part) was green aggro and black zombies. The undying is killer, and the new indestructible ozzes can be troublesome. I like the Sever the BloodlineMTG Card: Sever the Bloodlines, since that gets passed those nasty undying creatures, but I might suggest adding some Oblivion RingMTG Card: Oblivion Rings. I know you run Elspeth TirelMTG Card: Elspeth Tirel, but exiling an ooze or a Geralf's MessengerMTG Card: Geralf's Messenger is ungodly, and usually you don't need to ultimate with Elspeth (at least I don't when I use her). Another creature that may bother you is Thalia, Guardian of ThrabenMTG Card: Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. Her t2 will slow you down significantly. You might be fine with two Go for the ThroatMTG Card: Go for the Throats and Tragic SlipMTG Card: Tragic Slips mainboard, but she is something to think about, because humans is still one of the most solid decks in standard right now. I might also suggest Timely ReinforcementsMTG Card: Timely Reinforcements. BatterskullMTG Card: Batterskull is good, but usually if your mana count gets high enough for you to feel confident playing that, you have already won or lost. Timelies fix that fast attack put in during the early turns and lets you hold onto that Day of JudgmentMTG Card: Day of Judgment a turn or two later for maximum effectiveness. That, and six life. Seriously, that life can and will save your ass, especially against the likes of Diregraf CaptainMTG Card: Diregraf Captain and Geralf's MessengerMTG Card: Geralf's Messenger. Again, I love your deck and hope it serves you well!

March 5, 2012 7:05 p.m.

I really wish you had red so you could run Circle of FlameMTG Card: Circle of Flame. God, that card just bitch slaps almost any aggro deck ran right now.

March 5, 2012 7:08 p.m.

C4rnif3X says... #11

@ MrJacobobobobobo

You make a lot of sense my friend. Humans isn't really a threat, i've beat my buddy's humans deck again and agian in testing. Thalia, Guardian of ThrabenMTG Card: Thalia, Guardian of Thraben does suck, but nobody runs her at my meta. I would definitely cut a Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leak and add another Tragic SlipMTG Card: Tragic Slip if she gets more popular. Like i've said, Undying aggro decks are the only problem right now, but I've seemed to get that match-up under control with the side. I switch out a lot of the control cards (Archangel's LightMTG Card: Archangel's Light, Jace, Memory AdeptMTG Card: Jace, Memory Adept, Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leak) for the more aggressive removals. BatterskullMTG Card: Batterskull is amazing in aggro match-ups for it's vigilance/lifelink factor. I take out 3 Day of JudgmentMTG Card: Day of Judgments against Undying, and add the other 2 Sever the BloodlineMTG Card: Sever the Bloodlines, I also add 3 Phantasmal ImageMTG Card: Phantasmal Images to play their Undying game with them. Depending on how aggressive it is or not, i'll bring in the 3x Celestial PurgeMTG Card: Celestial Purges in tandem with 3 Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leaks.

test this deck against blue black zombies with tons of token creation, test this against blue black mill, test this against a green red kessig wolf run ramp, and then see if it holds up and you should have a good chance at a tourney with this in salt lake come then end of march

March 5, 2012 11:31 p.m.

narchanthel says... #14

Too bad you have no ways to destroy artifacts even after siding. GL playing against tempered steel lol. Also, it looks like Wolf Run Ramp is your worst nightmare right next to RG aggro decks and zombies.

March 6, 2012 4:13 a.m.

Wolf Ramp shouldn't be too much trouble for this deck. The only scary card is Inkmoth NexusMTG Card: Inkmoth Nexus, but he still has some Tragic SlipMTG Card: Tragic Slips and some Gideon JuraMTG Card: Gideon Juras for that. Perhaps a Ghost QuarterMTG Card: Ghost Quarter or two wouldn't hurt.

March 6, 2012 9:14 a.m.

narchanthel says... #16

If they side in a mimic vat it's gonna be an absolute nightmare for this deck, especially that most of the spells here are sorcery speed

March 6, 2012 11:43 a.m.

C4rnif3X says... #17

Decks can't cover every base guys haha. Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bombs destroy artifacts, and i've went up against my brother-in-laws wolf run deck and won. Day of JudgmentMTG Card: Day of Judgment ruins their fun. Trample is somewhat of an issue, but you just have to think your way out of trouble. Every deck doesn't have to be an exact replica of another in today's standard. It's SO boring.

March 6, 2012 12:48 p.m.

C4rnif3X says... #18

@ narchanthel

How is Mimic VatMTG Card: Mimic Vat an absolute nightmare? My deck runs no creatures except snap.. Gideon JuraMTG Card: Gideon Jura turns into one, but just don't use him as a win condition.

mimic vat+any titan

March 6, 2012 4:53 p.m.

theonyc says... #20

i think he means that you can't keep on killing it (he just needs to pay 3), above i was saying how that is a good combo, with primeval titan it is paying 3 for 4 lands and possibility of 6 damage, or with gravetitan 4 zombies, inferno titan is 6 damage and so on

March 6, 2012 4:55 p.m.

C4rnif3X says... #21

Right I get that, but by the time Mimic VatMTG Card: Mimic Vat is doing anything relevant, like spiting out a Titan every turn, all my walkers are set up. I can easily chump block with a Elspeth TirelMTG Card: Elspeth Tirel, or Sorin, Lord of InnistradMTG Card: Sorin, Lord of Innistrad token.

March 6, 2012 4:58 p.m.

a couple of slag storms in there and you will be finished

March 6, 2012 11:31 p.m.

C4rnif3X says... #23

Haha, splash red.. No thanks. It would be funny running more sweepers though.. My opponents get pissed off enough as it is.

March 7, 2012 midnight

narchanthel says... #24

Mimic VatMTG Card: Mimic Vat will be getting you a tough creature @ turn 4-5 and I really want to see how Elspeth TirelMTG Card: Elspeth Tirel or Sorin, Lord of InnistradMTG Card: Sorin, Lord of Innistrad is supposed to block a trampling Primeval TitanMTG Card: Primeval Titan, Inferno TitanMTG Card: Inferno Titan that's able to kill 6 of your tokens before even dealing its own damage or a flying Rune-Scarred DemonMTG Card: Rune-Scarred Demon. Hell, even Glissa, the Traitor at 6 mana is becoming problematic :) I've playtested GB ramp against this and sadly it's a very bad matchup for you. Add some Revoke ExistenceMTG Card: Revoke Existence to your sideboard like all the white decks gotta do, especially that there are so many other good cards you can get rid of with that :)

March 7, 2012 2:58 p.m.

theonyc says... #25

is their any similar blue removal?

March 7, 2012 3:22 p.m.

C4rnif3X says... #27

@ narchanthel

Black/Red deck varients are more prominent in my meta, so I run Celestial PurgeMTG Card: Celestial Purges, as it exiles everything that's scary there. Revoke ExistenceMTG Card: Revoke Existence is probably a better idea than Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bombs at this point, but I feel like Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bombs cover more ground.

"I really want to see how Elspeth TirelMTG Card: Elspeth Tirel or Sorin, Lord of InnistradMTG Card: Sorin, Lord of Innistrad is supposed to block a trampling Primeval TitanMTG Card: Primeval Titan, Inferno TitanMTG Card: Inferno Titan that's able to kill 6 of your tokens before even dealing its own damage or a flying Rune-Scarred DemonMTG Card: Rune-Scarred Demon."

You do realize I run 5 sweepers, 4 Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leaks, 2 Go for the ThroatMTG Card: Go for the Throats, 2 Tragic SlipMTG Card: Tragic Slips, and 3 Liliana of the VeilMTG Card: Liliana of the Veils right? Lol..

I've played against Wolfrun like i've said, and it hasn't been an issue. I side out a lot of the more heavy control match-up cards.

@ theonyc

Mind ControlMTG Card: Mind Control is a good late game. I've been tempted to put DespiseMTG Card: Despise or DistressMTG Card: Distress in the sideboard.

March 7, 2012 3:45 p.m.

MisterRager says... #28

forbidden alchemy is an amazing card and has great synergy with lingering souls and archangel's light so i would try to fit at least one more of these into the maindeck. i would also try to fit an oblivion ring into your mainboard (probably in the life's finale spot) as well as a couple of flashfreezes, revoke existence, and timely reinforcements into the sideboard (in place of the phantasmal images and the sever the bloodlines. beyond that this seems like a good deck. the u/b control matchup seems rough but maybe you could board in a couple elixir of immortality so that they don't mill you out with drownyards

throw in 4x Ghost QuarterMTG Card: Ghost Quarter to combat Inkmoth NexusMTG Card: Inkmoth Nexus, and add in an extra ratchet bomb, tempered steel should suffer with that. maybe?

March 8, 2012 6:18 p.m.

C4rnif3X says... #33

@ kram130

Na man, 4x Ghost QuarterMTG Card: Ghost Quarters in a 3 color, very demanding mana color deck is impossible. You'll never get the colors you need set up early game. Even one is pushing it..Lingering SoulsMTG Card: Lingering Souls can chump Inkmoth NexusMTG Card: Inkmoth Nexuses.

@ salvat1onarmy I side in Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bombs for equipment, and maybe a BatterskullMTG Card: Batterskull or two. Nobody is playing Tempered SteelMTG Card: Tempered Steel Where I am anymore. I would just make sure I have a Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leak opening hand to counter Mirran CrusaderMTG Card: Mirran Crusader, and mull if I don't.

I like the deck a lot I was just wondering though, is BatterskullMTG Card: Batterskull your only answer to aggro?

I made this deck with a few tweaks of my own and didn't lose to any of my friends decks while play testing besides his mono green aggro. You know Dungrove ElderMTG Card: Dungrove Elder, Strangleroot GeistMTG Card: Strangleroot Geist, VorapedeMTG Card: Vorapede etc etc.

Love this deck though +1 from me and keep up the good work!

March 13, 2012 2:53 a.m.

C4rnif3X says... #37

@ Dovahk11n

Yo man, glad the deck is working out for you. Aggro isn't really an issue for me after sideboarding. Undying however, has been killing me. I added Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cages to stop that though. I haven't played the deck since that addition, but I assume it'll slow Undying antics down.

BatterskullMTG Card: Batterskull isn't my only answer to aggro, i've got Lingering SoulsMTG Card: Lingering Souls to chump early, Day of JudgmentMTG Card: Day of Judgments to clear, Liliana of the VeilMTG Card: Liliana of the Veil to remove threats (she also gets rid of Dungrove ElderMTG Card: Dungrove Elders), Tragic SlipMTG Card: Tragic Slips to play when one of my Lingering SoulsMTG Card: Lingering Souls tokens dies. There is tons of answers. I do however side out the control heavy cards for faster cards to defend against aggro. Usually I side out Archangel's LightMTG Card: Archangel's Light, Jace, Memory AdeptMTG Card: Jace, Memory Adept, 4 Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leaks, 2 Snapcaster MageMTG Card: Snapcaster Mages.. Then i'll bring in 3 Phantasmal ImageMTG Card: Phantasmal Images, 2 BatterskullMTG Card: Batterskulls, and 3 Celestial PurgeMTG Card: Celestial Purges.
