Overview

An Ixalan block merfolk focussed deck. Based around the synergies between merfolk abilities with additional dinosaur cards in the late game that can benefit from +1/+1 counters.

Unblockable

The main combo is between River Sneak and River Heralds' Boon , a sneaky unblockable 2 drop that can have +1/+1 counters thrown on it. Blinding Fog can help keep this combo in play from pesky removal spells. River Sneak can also be pumped with Crash the Ramparts for maximum damage.

Merfolk bro-time

Deeproot Champion benefits from playing River Heralds' Boon , One With the Wind or any of the other non creature spells gaining +1/+1 counters. Kumena's Speaker receives +1/+1 with another merfolk or Island in play.

Dino Dash

Towards the late game dinosaur creatures come into play, these can be targeted with River Heralds' Boon and then combo'd with Herald of Secret Streams to become unblockable and enraged to produce some nice abilities. Snapping Sailback produces it's own +1/+1 and potentially becomes unblockable with Herald of Secret Streams and Ravenous Daggertooth gains you 2 life. Castaway's Despair can help keep the opponent on the back foot and open up gaps for the dino-onslaught.

The game ender is Carnage Tyrant ; total dude.

Anti-Air

To deal with flying threats (and potentially help land some damage against a non-flying deck) there's One With the Wind and Grazing Whiptail (available in the sideboard) with reach for defence.
