After some discussion with friends, I wanted to see if I could make a serviceable deck for around $100 or so, not including the commander or basic lands. That got me thinking, and I went straight to one of the new legendaries from Zendiakr: Phylath. Phylath cares about basic lands in play, he's practically an Avenger of Zendikar in the Command Zone. So, I decided to build around this premise, with all of our lands being basic as a means of maximizing his ability, and allowing our land search spells to almost always have targets. The deck leverages most of green's basic land ramp, finishing the game with powerful late game landfall creatures like Rampaging Baloths, Avenger of Zendikar, Moraug, Fury of Akoum, and Scute Swarm. This looks like a fairly easy deck to pilot for new players as well, so could be an awesome start for a new player to the format. What do you think of the list, and of the idea of playing on a budget as well??
