Blood Barons of the Mardu Midrange

Modern Midrange RBW (Mardu)

Big Midrange Mardu.

Mardu typically lacks a decent finisher. Trying to resolve this by running Brimaz that is a reasonably low curve, doesn't die to bolt and can win games if un-interacted with.

Would appreciate suggestions that people have.

Match 1: Blue Moon (0-2)

T3 bloodmoon cuts off my ability to cast either a brimaz, kalitas or LotV in both games 1 and 2 leading to a pretty rough loss.

0-1
Notes: Bloodmoon seems pretty rough for current mana base.

Match 2: Mardu Midrange (2-0)
A mardu midrange deck running lingering souls, wall of omens and lotv.

G1: After missing a few land drops, managed to stabilise against his tokens with SFGM and bolts/helix/kcommand (it felt very bad), eventually curving into blood baron.

G2: Baited a path on a brimaz for a T4 blood baron. Opponent managed to double bolt it, but was immediately k-commanded it back and forced them to discard their remaining card and redeployed to keep swinging through their spirits. It felt disgusting.

(1-1)

Match 3 - Lantern Control (2-1)

G1: Opp got a very quick lantern and shredder. Got them down to 9, but was eventually able to lock me out with 3 shredders and a couple of bridges.

G2: T1 thoughtseize his abrupt decay, T2 Stony Silence, T3 Inquisition his abrupt decay. Game started going long as he played all 4 copies of bridge and needle on LotV. Eventually got to 6 mana and just burnt him out with SFGM + helix.

G3: Cleared his only bridge and beat down with Brimaz, kitties and spirits.

(2-1)

Match 4 - Restore Balance (0-2)

G1 & G2: played out very similar, an early bloodmoon into wiping my board several times. G2 I managed to path double gargadon and the bloodmoon, but couldn't top deck the dreadbore to stop nahiri.

Never played against restore balance so wasn't too sure on how to really put pressure on it.

(2-2)

Over all, I was happy how the deck performed. Kalitas was boarded out almost every game, either due to bloodmoon making it impossible to cast or the opposing deck not having creatures to generate value off of. Kept it in against lantern simply as another threat. Blood barons won the mardu match up on its own, and helped me get an extra turn here and there against blue moon before being bounced (or eating a burst lightning). Mana base is going to be changed to make the deck capable of functioning through a bloodmoon (hopefully).
