Leonin Armorguard

Creature — Cat Soldier

When Leonin Armorguard enters the battlefield, creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn.

Maybe you'd like creatures like Ampryn Tactician and Leonin Armorguard , or Seller of Songbirds and Sandsteppe Outcast ? The first two are decent bodies that make all your other bodies even more "decent-er". The last two are some of many creatures that put out flying tokens. I know you said you didn't want to do the traditional Tokens strategy here, but having flying chumps is never a bad thing.

Also if you can blink Stonehorn Dignitary reliably, that's pretty bad-ass.

I would replace captured sunlight with different four drop maybe something like Leonin Armorguard for a pump or Sumala Woodshaper for card draw.

This list seems kind of hybrid or conflicted. It's got some equipment to help suit up, but it's also got a pretty aggressive bunch of creatures. Seems to be able to swing either voltron or aggro. It would probably be worth it to trim down the list of 1-ofs and really streamline the strategy.

If you want some aggression, Leonin Armorguard seems right up your alley. Nice curve-topper that pumps your team on etb.

Pouncing Jaguar is really aggressive, especially if you drop it turn one. The echo cost is negligible in case you were planning on playing a tapland T2 and didn't have another onedrop. Scythe Tiger is a similar card that's an uberstronk onedrop with a substantial drawback.

Leonin Den-Guard and Sunspear Shikari are the two best equippable cats. If you want to push that archetype more, I'd fill these out to playsets.

Other cards worth considering: Penumbra Bobcat and Sacred Cat both provide resistance to Edict effects, which is super important if you plan going voltron.

Cheers!

Hey Memphismaymagic5, fellow Arahbo, Roar of the World player, Arahbo, Xenagos... for Cats

You have quite a bit of +/+ for the cats, what do you think about a Triumph of the Hordes for a finishing attack?

Guys like Leonin Armorguard and Grizzled Leotau seem a little underpowered for the CMC? Have you considered Lost Leonin (if you can give him double strike) or Balan, Wandering Knight to free equip all the swords and recover quickly?

Highly recommend Rhonas the Indomitable, 5/5 Deathtouch indestructible for CMC3, can always attack with ANY cat + eminence triggered ability, as well as can pump/trample a cat if needed.

Chameleon Colossus can proc himself too, and as a cat, can get out of hand when you have a bit of mana. +1.

Hi Bou,

Fellow Arahbo, Roar of the World player, Arahbo, Xenagos... for Cats.

I play quite a different style of Arahbo, Roar of the World deck, but thought I'd offer some suggestion and get some insight. I'm still trying to make mine a functional deck that compete in Multi-player consistently.

Do you find that by going the creature (Cat) forward approach, you end up with several under-powered cats. For example, Enlightened Ascetic, Grizzled Leotau, Leonin Armorguard, Scythe Leopard (He could benefit from fetch lands like Windswept Heath or Wooded Foothills, Scythe Tiger (can't be Eminence, I get hes big, but he is what he is and sets you back a land), Stalking Tiger, Wild Leotau.

What about tutoring the high-powered cats, with something like Eladamri's Call for sure, or Green Sun's Zenith. In my build im trying forward planning tutoring with Worldly Tutor and Sylvan Tutor to get into my Lost Leonin or Felidar Sovereign.

I know you run Descendants' Path so more cats is preferable, but Im always worried about a balance, drawing an extra bad cat that doesn't do much, or pulling a good cat that pushes forward my board position, if that makes sense?

What about Metallic Mimic, with so many Cats i think he would be good for you, and is an aggro cat? Would something like Vanquisher's Banner (even though higher CMC) be better than an Always Watching because of the extra draw? I think it's pretty high CMC, but the vigilence isn't key. Stuff like Mirari's Wake or Spear of Heliod totally make sense to me though.

No Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist, he provides evasion, and protection from counter-attacks. I think you should get him in there. He was in the C17 deckbox.

I see your protecting your cats with Faith's Reward / Make a Stand type stuff, what do you think about Teferi's Protection? Seems multi-utility as well.

I would run a Triumph of the Hordes with so many cats, the +1 to each is going to defeat some opponents. +1.

PS: Really like the Privileged Position

@FAMOUSWATERMELON - The -2 gives your creatures +1/+1 and trample for 4 mana, with the requirement that you have at least 1 creature in play so the walker doesn't die the next turn. And a further requirement to have at least 3 creatures in play to use the ability again the next turn. Any less and you can't activate any abilities on the walker the next turn. She requires an army to command to be useful, pretty huge draw-back.

Other cards that give +1/+1 until EoT are:

Leonin Armorguard, which gives a 3/3 body instead of trample.

Marshaling Cry gives vigilance instead of trample, in addition to cycling and flash back at 3 CMC.

Warrior's Honor, Warrior's Charge, Ampryn Tactician, etc.

Is it the trample that makes it too strong? What suggestion would you make to make it more in-line?
