Venser, The Sojourner's Infinite Baneslaying

Casual Control WU (Azorius)

Weston Ayarza

Sideboard

Artifact (1)

Instant (6)

Listed format for casual, but eventually i'd like to make this modern.

Plays like typical azorius control: board clears, counterspells, spot removal and card advantage. Place a win condition when you're opponent is in top-deck mode with counterspell mana up, win the game on the back of a lifelinker, or my own marquee creature Baneslayer Angel. Frost titan carries his own weight in certain matchups, as well as Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. Mystical Tutor into miracled Entreat the Angels always feels good too.

Extremely favorable matchups against midrange of all types, and aggro/beatdown decks.

Weak matchups include burn/control mirrors with discard engines.

Previously this deck had tried an infinite turn combo, through bouncing a Mnemonic Wall, returning Walk the Aeons and hard casting it over and over each new turn. It was hilarious when it worked, but overall it wasn't consistent enough. Been considering cutting Venser to a 1x. It's also ran it's own as a Venser, the Sojourner+Stonehorn Dignitary for no combat phase, and eventually exiling permanents.

Comments and Suggestions are welcome, especially if there's something i could include to make this better. Particularly need help sideboarding, and fine tuning what amount of each creature to expect. Thanks!

The land combinations is a thing of beauty. I really like how the different land work well with your deck while still proving good mana. I personally don't like the Shattered Angel in the maybe board. You should get rid of it entirely. There are a lot of fun combos in this deck so it looks like a fun play. When you win with it, it will be in the most obnoxious ways though. Should be funny to see it play against something.

Ooh, and Sunblast AngelMTG Card: Sunblast Angel+SleepMTG Card: Sleep combo would be funnier than pushing a bunch of elderly people down the stairs.... Just sayin.

Hmmm. Stuff to cut to get to 80 that I would recommend starting with losing the Mind UnboundMTG Card: Mind Unbound unless you are in the mood to screw around and you know you will easily win. I also might drop the Palladium MyrMTG Card: Palladium Myr, 1 Venser's JournalMTG Card: Venser's Journal and 1 Swiftfoot BootsMTG Card: Swiftfoot Boots . Some things that I would say to sideboard are Leyline of SanctityMTG Card: Leyline of Sanctity and Offering to AshaMTG Card: Offering to Asha. I don't see a whole lot of use for the Howling MineMTG Card: Howling Mine either. If you got rid of all of that and the amount of lands that would need to be dropped as well you would be at 88.

Ichor WellspringMTG Card: Ichor Wellspring? Might do ya some good perhaps.
