Preface: This is a deck used in Tabletop Simulator 2 with friends!

Description:

Just a mono-black commander deck I made to mimic the fun of my old Death & Taxes deck. It is slightly themed, meaning I've chosen not to include certain cards in favor of keeping said theme, that being Liliana Vess and a general withering and decaying undertone. I find limiting the deck in this way works well to prevent it from being overly abusive against my friends. It has a generally similar approach, less discard focus for more general pain and control. I've been putting cards on my mind in the side-board & maybe-board, so feel free to ignore them or comment. Any help would be appreciated!

Post-Script: I've owned ~90% of these cards (in one reprint or another) throughout almost 30 years of playing MTG; so I just picked the ones that would look nice for Tabletop Simulator. :)

Combos:

• Playing Peer into the Abyss against an opponent with Underworld Dreams in play will deal tremendous damage.

• Playing Peer into the Abyss against an opponent (that is not extending their hand-size) with Liliana's Caress or other damage-on-discard enchantments will deal tremendous damage when they discard down. Any non-land permanents discarded this way are taken by Tergrid, God of FrightGC  

• With Thought Vessel or Reliquary Tower in play, you can play Peer into the Abyss on yourself for a fun time.

Strategies:

• The Commander, Tergrid, God of FrightGC   has an abhorrently powerful passive ability. Taking slight advantage of that, this deck seeks to control the battlefield in an abusive way only black decks can. You as the player can throttle up or down this abuse.

• Utilizing Crucible of Worlds nullifies land-destruct decks.

• Utilizing Jet Medallion allows for cheaper casting.

• Playing Underworld Dreams abuses decks that abuse drawing.

Q&A:

Why so many different Swamps? - They're full-art swamps from various sets I thought were appealing. That's all.

Why no hyper-focus? - This is not meant to be super-competitive. Just challenging versus friends. It's meant to hold back and counter various types of gameplay.

Why no (insert card) - I may not know the card? I may have seen it and decided it didn't fit with the theme? Feel free to comment politely!
