My first EDH deck was mine, what's your budget so I can make suggestions with that in mind?

Mimeoplasm not mine, on my phone sorry!

Gspot, I'd like to spend no more than $10 on each individual card, though I can be swayed if it's a REALLY good card.

It's a bit high for you, but Survival of the Fittest is insane in other builds but is Mime's best friend. I played a reanimator strategy, its helps give your deck more speed and consistency and more versitility. Entomb is also a big money card that is a staple for Mimeoplasm. Birthing Pod can enable stupid things as well but is a bit clunkier than the other two options. Jarad's Ordersgives you a utility creature like Eternal Witness and a Mime target.

Cards like Reanimate Exhume Animate Dead all do incredible amounts of work getting more mileage out of fatties.

Speaking of here's a list of my favorite fatties to plop down your commander and name:

Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur My deck was reanimator, and seeing him come down t2-4 was usually a game i'd win. That said he makes you discard, fueling more mimeoplasm shenanigans. Oh and ruins your opponents day.

It That Betrays stealing permanents is great, and its large p/t make it great for either half of Mime"s ability.

Lord of the Void A more budget creature, but one that gets STUPID results if you swing into another creature based deck.

Scion of Darkness can cycle himself to be a target for Mime or reanimate, and draws a card!

Death's Shadow 13 counters on Mime puts him at lethal swings FAST.

Ghoultree a 10/10? That can be tacked onto my commander? YUP!

And last Gaea's Revenge and Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon Mimeoplasm is one of the strongest aggro decks in EDh and the only thing he lacks in his colors is haste enablers. Not only does Gaea's Revenge grant haste but with Death's Shadow your swinging for lethal. Skittles give Infect and haste making the clock you put on your opponents a 3 turn one.

Gspot Holy crap, you're a bro! Thanks for all the helpful input. I am definitely going to take (most of) your advice. Some of those cards I was only thinking about, but your suggestion of them just confirmed their spot in my deck. You really sped up this process, I'll be shopping for these ASAP

No problem, Wonder and Brawn are good cards too.

When you have access to green ramp you don't need mana rocks. You could easily lose the cluestones for things like Cultivate and Kodama's Reach . Some little mana monkeys like Somberwald Sage could also be helpful in that regard.

Fauna Shaman is a great tutor that can get things into your graveyard.

Phyrexian Dreadnought is another great way to buff up the Mimeoplasm, and goes straight to the graveyard on turn 1.

Cards with persist like Puppeteer Clique or Woodfall Primus are great since when you reanimate them with the Mimeoplasm and he dies, you get to bring him back and select new targets for his body and +1/+1 counters.

Kruphix's Insight seems like a pretty weak card for your deck. Swap it out with a different mill card like Mesmeric Orb or Whispering Madness

Finally, check out Invisible Stalker. Hard to remove and unblockable is great.

Fauna Shaman seems perfect for this deck. She does what I was using Lotleth Troll for, but she seems more useful.

I don't know how I overlooked Phyrexian Dreadnought. This deck likes suicidal creatures, like Death's Shadow.

You have a good idea with persist, but that brings up a point that confuses me. When Mimeo dies and comes back, he enters the battlefield and I "may" choose new creatures. If I don't, does it stay a copy of the old creature? Obviously, it would lose its counters, but can I choose a new creature just for the counters? Probably not, being that it says "you may exile two creatures", not "up to two creatures".

I do see your point with Kruphix's Insight.

Invisible Stalker was actually part of my initial concept, but at the time, I went for a "bigger" creature presence. However, that deck has changed a lot since then and taken on a more sneaky role. I will seriously consider adding Invisible Stalker (and Deathcult Rogue) back in.

Thank you for all of the great suggestions

When The Mimeoplasm dies and has persist or undying, he comes back as just the Mimeoplasm. Once he enters the battlefield, you may choose two new creatures for copying and giving +1/+1 counters. If you choose not to, then he comes in as a 0/0 and dies. Its nice if you have several persist creatures, you can cast the Mimeoplasm once and get two-three uses out of him.

Also glad to help. I have a Mimeoplasm deck as well, although its focused on milling my opponent rather than myself. If you want to take a look, its called Mimeoplasm, the Deck Eater

Ok, that's good to know; I will look into persist. I have actually been trying to make this deck more flexible, so that it can be used to either mill/reanimate the opponents' creatures, or it's own. I will definitely take a look at yours. Thanks again for the help.

put in Jalira, Master Polymorphist,Victimize,Life's Legacy,Prime Speaker Zegana,Master Biomancerzegana and biomancer will allow you to pump your creatures or draw a ton of cards, jalira lets you throw stuff in the grave while pulling out things, life's legacy allows card draw and sacking, and victimize lets you cheat things out onto the board.

Hi Tinnuki, nice Mimeoplasm you got there!!,

I love the Lovecraftian background yo gave to it, very fitting.

I'm still in the process of finding a really fitting Sultai commander for me (currently I've an Ukkima and Cazur non-cEDH, non-Food Chain combo, but offline since I'm doing a lot of changes on it). So watching other Sultai decks like yours give me a lot of ideas, thanks!

I really love the flavor of your deck. Mimeoplasm is one of my favorite creatures and I want to build something similar to yours. I had a couple of thoughts of stuff that might mesh well.

Stormtide Leviathan seems like it would be good as a main body.

Ixidron is something I’ve been thinking about trying. I like the idea of turning mimeoplasm into that to neuter the opponents creatures, at least temporarily.

ObserverWill Actually, Stormtide was a creature I ran in this deck for a long time. He eventually got cut for some more flavorfully interesting (to me) creatures, but if I was on the lookout for another big, blue beater, he would definitely make the short list. (In fact, now that I'm thinking about Stormtide again, maybe I'll be able to squeeze him in somewhere...)

Now, Ixidron is definitely interesting to me. It would make playing the long game more dynamic, as you can just nullify all your opponents' best creatures when you're finally ready to start the beatdown. I'll definitely consider it! Good thoughts!

The_Silver_Dragon, why must you torment my wallet so?

Love the deck! I considered building a Lovecraftian deck with The Mimeoplasm, but I ended up sticking with a Lazav, Dimir Mastermind EDH deck to honor the Great Old Ones. I've been working on a Muldrotha, the Gravetide combo reanimator style deck, but this is giving me second thoughts.

Cool deck idea! Have you considered adding in a few Eldrazi such as It That Betrays or Void Winnower?

October 3, 2022 6:27 p.m.

Tinnuki says... #24

lcarl3035, yep I had a couple Eldrazi in here for a short while. I cut them for personal preference more than anything. I've played with the balance of this deck a lot, and it hasn't left very much room for "Target" creatures, so I had to choose mine carefully.

Tinnuki +1

Grimoire of the Dead - Seems a bit slow, no? Even with fatestitcher (FS). You use it after cast (1c), use FS same turn (2c) and then hope it stays around for your next turn to use it (3c) and then hopefully FS also stays for the final payoff. How has your experience been with it?
