Maybeboard


This deck deals damage and loss of life using draw and discard mechanics. It is also probably my most painful deck, as most people I deal with don't design their decks with the mechanics of my deck in mind. Granted, I only play with a select few people, and don't really branch out into tournaments at all.

With the 4 Underworld Dreams, and 4 Liliana's Caress, plus lots of draw and discard cards, this deck is ready to deal out pain, and more especially if the other deck survives on draw mechanics or cards in grave.

Once this deck hits turn 4-5, and if I have the right cards in hand, I can take out players in one go... sometimes 2 or more in one turn.

The Wheel and Deal usually seals the deal if I can get it to go off. This and the 3 main cards listed above have been the staple cards in the deck since it was formed. However, I had a problem where opponents and I would run out of cards in hand. Howling Mine and Sign in Blood aims to solve this.

Other than that, I find it fun to play.

This deck is much faster with its mana accel I've recently added.

Open for suggestions as always. I am very much on the lookout for a card like Underworld Dreams, but one that causes loss of life instead of damage. Please let me know ASAP if there is a card like this.

Alright. I'll be honest. I stopped playing Magic for many years. The nostalgia came back and this deck is just attrocious, slow and unfocused.

The main two issues are too high of a mana cost and a lot of useless cards that need to be removed or have better alternatives.

Removed cards:

  1. Cards that help only an opponent choice of cards needed to go. Wheel and Deal does enough damage to stay, but Careful Consideration is not helping. I wish I could afford a Memory Jar, because that would go in instead of the Wheel and Deal if I could.

  2. If I'm going to have very few creatures, I need to either put ones in that benefit the deck or remove them and have defenses that offset it. I opted for the latter. Damnation + Propaganda. Possibly Toxic Deluge.

  3. Discard spells need to be better and cheaper. More Hymn to Tourach and Inquisition of Kozilek. Eventually I plan to add some Thoughtseize.

  4. Ebony Owl Netsuke never goes off. It needs to go.

  5. The mana base needs some serious work. Need more dual lands, and some lands to assist the deck.

  6. Remove Liliana Vess, Elixir of Immortality, Sanguine Bond, Sygg, River Cutthroat, and Exquisite Blood. While they are nice they really don't assist the deck's purpose much when there's only one copy of them, and I just don't like infinite combos because they're boring.

  7. Megrim helps the deck, but it's honestly not as worth the cost, and I already have 4x Liliana's Caress in there.

  8. Remove 3x Chromatic Lantern. Sol rings are much faster and dual-color decks shouldn't be an issue that needs mana fixing.

Eventually I plan to get a Demonic Tutor to replace the Diabolic.
