Grixis control is a viable deck in Pioneer currently. This is a variant that leverages more tempo by combining Fires of Invention with many creature abilities that utilize mana well. Hostage Taker and The Scarab God are uniquely powerful when cast with mana open, and Aetherling is a resilient and unexpected threat. Mastermind's Acquisition gives you significant flexibility with Fires of Invention without having to completely warp your sideboard around it.
